Sonically Sealed, Waterproof Trailer Light

  • Looking for Way to Mount Optronics Backup Light # BUL10CB on Ranger Trail Boat Trailer
In order to mount the Optronics Backup Light, # BUL10CB, on your Ranger Trail Boat Trailer, I recommend using the Rubber Grommet, # a70gb, and Trailer Light Mounting Bracket, # BK70BB. A wiring harness, part # A49PB for a right angle plug and part # A45CB for a straight plug, will also be needed for the Optronics Backup Light, # BUL10CB. I have included a few short videos for you to check out.

  • Where to Gain Input For a Backup Light For a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox?
You may be able to get a connection for a backup light in the rear fuse panel on your 2019 Chevy Equinox. I do see there is a circuit for the trailer reverse lights is F8 and K2 positions according to your owners manual. Do understand you may or may not have these circuits wired on your fuse panel and may need to get the signal from the wiring going into the tail light.

  • What is the Candela Output of Optronics 6-1/2 Inch Incandescent and LED Tail Lights?
I do recommend you move to LED lights as they are going to last much longer than the incandescent lights on your horse trailer. As far as light output, Optronics generally measures their lights in candelas instead of lumens though at a distance of 1 foot candela is equal to lumens so you should have a good idea of how bright the lights are. I contacted Optronics and the representative was able to give me the candelas of each of the lights you were asking about. The incandescent # BU70CB...

  • LED Reverse Light Recommendation for 2005 Toyota Prius
Since you have a Prius I would strongly recommend going with an LED reverse light that will draw considerably less than the Halogen part # PL-807. For that you'd want the LED light part # BUL10CB with the bracket # BK70BB and the grommet # A70GB and you'd have a setup that draws only .28 of an amp per light. You'll also need a wiring pigtail like the part # A49PB. This could be ran to the reverse light circuit of your vehicle without overdrawing it.

  • What are the Brightest 6.5" Oval Lights for my Motorhome
Because the GloLight LED Backup Light for Truck or Trailer part # BUL111CB slightly diffuses the light around the outside of the light I recommend using the LED Backup Light for Truck or Trailer part # BUL10CB. This will give you a slightly brighter light than the other. To be honest the difference is minimal and I like the looks of the GloLight better but for maximin brightness the second option is the better of the two.

  • Connecting New Reverse Lights Wiring At Trailer Electrical Connector For a Dump Trailer
As long as your trailer has a 7-way you will more than likely have a Junction Box # 3375601101 that all the wiring from the 7-way will go into and connect to the trailer wiring. You will need to locate this box and find the wire for the reverse light circuit. This will typically be either the purple wire or yellow wire if your harness does not have a purple wire. A Test Light # PTW2993 can be used to verify that you are connecting to the correct wire. If your trailer uses a 6-way connector...

  • Comparing Brightness Ratings of Optronics LED Tail Lights
The Optronics LED Backup Light # BUL22CB is brighter than backup light # BUL10CB although I would not describe it as significant, though that can be subjective. Optronics measures the brightness of their lights using candelas and the # BUL10CB has a candela rating of 125, while the # BUL22CB has a candela rating of 160. There is also the backup light # BUL52CB which has a candela rating of 175. The reason I would not classify the brightness as significantly higher is because these lights...

  • Recommendation for Submersible LED Backup Lights on a Boat Trailer
I can help you add reverse lights to your trailer. Yes, It is important to pay attention to DOT compliance when adding lights on your boat trailer. Compliance will be met if you use the Optronics # BUL10CB light as your backup light. The # BUL72CB is purposed for a utility light and will not meet the criteria for reverse lights on the roadway. In order to add reverse lights to your trailer would would need to have a 7-Way on the trailer and a 7-Way on the vehicle. On the vehicle side,...

  • How To Connect Electric Trailer Brake Assemblies To Junction Box On Trailer
You have a good plan! You are correct that once you have a functional 7-way connector and the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 installed in your truck that you will not need any other wiring on the truck. Going with a junction box like the # 38656 to install the 7-way connector is the best way as it gives you a very nice location to make all of the wiring connections. All you will need to do is run the # 10-2-1 like you mentioned from the brake output post on the junction box to one wire...

  • How to Wire LED Reverse Lamps on Enclosed Trailer
The center pin on the 7-way trailer connector carries the reverse lamp signal. Install your reverse lamps such as # BUL10CB as well as the # A45CB pigtail and the # A70GB grommet and # BK70BB bracket if needed. Then, run a length of # DW02359-1 16 gauge wire from the center pin on the trailer connector back to the running lights. I've linked you to our Trailer Wiring help article.

  • How to Provide Power to Trailer Reverse Lights
To connect back up lights you need to have a 7-way trailer connector on both your trailer and tow vehicle. On a 7-way the reverse lights are powered by the center pin. To connect reverse lights to the trailer's 7-way you can use 16 gauge wire # 16-1-1, or 14 gauge # DW07550-1 if you have a longer trailer. Both are sold by the foot. If you need reverse lights a couple of popular options are the Optronics LED Backup Light # BUL10CB for an LED that uses a 2-wire pigtail # A45CB to connect....

  • Recommended Wiring And Waterproof Lights For 2000 Ranger 620 VDS Boat Trailer
To completely rewire the trailer you will need to start with a 7-way trailer side wiring harness like part # H20044. You will then need a junction box like part # 38656 to attach to the trailer. You will run the # H20044 harness into the junction box and run the wiring for the brakes and lights off of the posts in the junction box. You will need the appropriate size wire for the lights and for brakes if you have them on the trailer. You will want to run 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1...

  • Do Trailer Reverse Lights Require Two or Three Wires to be Powered
Reverse lights like the part # STL211RCB only need power and ground to function. You would not need three wires ran to the light assembly. Power would need to come from the reverse light circuit of the tow vehicle but you can ground the lights to the trailer frame or using wire to run back to ground of the trailer wiring. The version of the light I would recommend instead though is the part # BUL10CB since this is just a reverse light. For pigtail harnesses you'd want either the # A45CB...

  • How Much Amperage Is Required to Add Reverse Lights to Trailer
If the tow vehicle has a trailer reverse light circuit separate for trailer wiring then you'd be limited by the amperage rating of the fuse that protects it. If you are tapping into the reverse light circuit of your vehicle for the light then it comes down to the amperage rating of the fuse that protects the circuit as well as the amperage rating of the lights and how many amps are left over between those two numbers. Now with that all said if you went with an LED reverse light like the...

  • Difference in Brightness Between # BUL10CB Backup Light and # BUL72CB Utility Light
Both the # BUL10CB and the # BUL72CB are 10 diode lamps, and therefore neither lamp would really be brighter than the other. The main difference between the two is how the light is focused. Because the # BUL10CB lamp is DOT compliant as a back-up light, the light would be more diffused over a wider area. By contrast, the # BUL72CB which is NOT certified as a back up light would have the light more focused on a smaller area. Each lamp would output a similar amount of light, but the # BUL72CB...

  • Can Reverse Light Circuit of Trailer 7-Way be Used to Power Additional Reverse Lights
If the reverse light circuit of your 7-way is active you can use it to power the reverse lights you bought. It would be a matter of running the power wire of the light to the reverse light circuit of the 7-way and the negative to the ground circuit of it. If the circuit isn't active on your trailer wiring you'd then need to tap into the reverse lights of the truck. For a quick splice connector you could use the # SWC502905-1 to make the connection to the circuits.

  • Why Would LED Trailer Light Stop Working
The lifespan of LEDs are typically much longer than what they would ever be needed for. They don't burn out like traditional bulbs which is one of the many advantages to them. Most likely your issue is ground related. Try improving the ground on the right turn signal and you should get the light to work again.

  • Flush Mount, Submersible LED Back Up Light Recommendation for a Trailer
The brightest LED light, flush mount, submersible, that can be used as a back up light, is going to be the round light # BUL23C24B. But this is a 24 volt light and it has 27 diodes. For a 12 volt back up light that is flush mount and submersible would be # BUL10CB or # BUL11CB. For the BUL10CB that you have referenced, you will also need grommet # a70gb, and a wiring harness # A49PB. For the round light # BUL11CB, you would need grommet # A45GB. and harness # A45CB.

  • Is the Custer 4 LED Strobe Light part # STRL4W Waterproof
In order for something to be considered waterproof it needs to be able to withstand submersion for a certain amount of time without any water leaking in. The Custer 4-LED Strobe Light or Running Light # STRL4W would work well on the exterior of your vehicle and normal amounts of rain wouldn't break it. But I would not recommend it for a boat trailer where the trailer gets submerged. For something like that you would want a LED Backup Light part # BUL10CB.

  • Reverse Light Wire Color on a 1996 Chevrolet K1500 Pickup to Allow Connection of Back Up Light
The best way to confirm which wire activates your vehicle reverse lights is to remove one taillight assembly and visually identify which lead goes to the reverse light bulb. To remove the taillight, open the tailgate and locate and remove the two taillight retaining screws. This will allow you to pull out the taillight assembly for access to the wiring. Then, for safety sake, it will be useful to have a helper turn the ignition to the on position without starting the vehicle. Then place...

  • DOT Approved Trailer LED Reverse Light and an LED Interior Trailer Light
Optronics light # BUL78CB is a utility light so it is not DOT approved to be used as anything other than that. For the interior of the trailer it will work fine, it doesn't have to be DOT approved since it isn't a tail, marker, reverse, brake, or turn signal light. It is about as tough as any other trailer light that you would find but I would not expose it to repeated impact from cargo. the lens or flange would eventually crack. The 36 diode light will be noticeably brighter than the 10 diode light. It really just depends on how bright of a back up light...
