Reverse Light Recommendations and Difference Between 2 and 3 Wire Pig Tails
Published 12/17/2012 >
Question:
which white led light can fit into a 6 1/2 oval rubber grommet mount? Can the 6 7/16 fit this? What is the brightness of the 10 diode vs the 36 diode? What is the difference between the 2 wire pigtail and the 3 wire pigtail?

The LED Backup Light # BUL10CB with 10 diodes will fit in the Rubber Grommet # a70gb. Also, the Sealed, 6-1/2 inch Oval LED Trailer Back Up Light # BUL52CB with 36 diodes will fit in the # A70GB. 7/16 of an inch is pretty close to half an inch and honestly it was probably a measuring error as both lights will fit yet they are listed as having different diameters.
The 36 diode light will be noticeably brighter than the 10 diode light. It really just depends on how bright of a back up light you need. When measured in candela, the 36 diode light puts out 175 candela as opposed to the 10 diode light that puts out around 125.
The 2-wire pigtails are designed to be used on single intensity bulb situations like a reverse or clearance light. So you would want a Straight 2-Wire Pigtail # A45CB. If you were using dual intensity bulbs like for a stop/turn/running light circuit you would need a 3-wire pigtail to provide the voltage for the second circuit.
Basically, one wire is the ground and the other wire(s) represent the other circuits. So a single intensity light only needs a 2-wire pigtail and a dual intensity light needs a 3-wire.
