The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.
Recessed-mount trailer lights install underneath a housing or a grommet (A70GB - sold separately). These lights will extend into the mounting surface and require that a hole be cut into your trailer.

What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out this tail light from Optronics. It's gonna have a clear cover on it with red LEDs underneath. Let's check it out. Today, we're gonna be installing on this Big Tex flatbed trailer. So this, taking a closer look at our tail light, it's gonna have 10 diodes on it.
You got the clear case, you can see the lens itself is clear and the LEDs underneath are gonna be red. So this is gonna go right here onto our trailer and plugs in with the three prong attachment. It's the industry standard. So it just plugs right back into place where we took out our old one. Now, it also can be submerged in water, so you don't have to worry about that if you're putting it on a boat trailer.
And it's DOT compliant. So once we push this in, then I can push it into the grommet. I'm not gonna push it in all the way just because we have to take it right back out after the video's done, but wanted to show you what it looked like. Let's run through the three functions of the light. Right now, it's on brake lights.
You can also do a turn signal. They also do tail lights. Looking at 'em side by side, you can see the new one's gonna be quite a bit brighter. It's gonna be helpful because it has those extra diodes in there where this one only has six. And the clear front is gonna let more of that light shine through.
The light's gonna measure six and 7/16 long and two and 5/16 wide. So make sure you measure your lights on your trailer to make sure these are gonna fit. Overall, I think these lights are gonna be an upgrade for your trailer. You can see from the LEDs that we're on here to the new LEDs we put on, quite a bit brighter. It's gonna stand out that way. Now, if you're upgrading from incandescent to LED, that's gonna be an even bigger jump 'cause incandescents aren't gonna be as bright, they're gonna burn out quicker, and they're gonna get warm. So the LEDs aren't gonna do any of those things. They're gonna last way longer on your trailer, so you don't have to replace 'em for a long time. Well, I think that does it. Lights are nice and bright. Install was a breeze with the matching plug.
After having to order one from my local auto parts store that took four days to get and didn’t fit. I was able to get the right part that fit from etrailer. Carl check in to make sure it was right and to let them know if it wasn’t. The parts came in less time than the auto parts store.
