Ellen: Hey, everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a look at the replacement gas strut. So this is going to be something to replace one that's already gotten worn out, or maybe bend or broken, in your boat or your RV, or really anywhere that you need to have a gas strut hold up a door or compartment for you. That's going to make it a lot easier to load up any kind of equipment or gear or luggage without that compartment door bonking on your head, or on your hands, or anything like that. So, makes it a lot easier to work with. This one in particular is going to be a 12 inch long strut with a 30 pound capacity. So it's going to help to hold up a door that's up to 30 pounds. And we can take a little closer look at it.
At either end it's going to have this socket connection point. So, that's going to go over a ball stud to hold it in place. So, that should match up with what you already had. That 12 inch length is derived from those attachment points. So, from about the edge of one to the edge of the other, or about center to center, they're 12 inches apart.
So that's going to be it's extended form. When it's compressed, it's going to be a bit smaller than that.It does have a heat treated steel construction, so it's going to be nice and durable and resistant to bending or warping. And it also has a corrosion resistant coating, so it can be used even in saltwater applications without any worries about rust. The connection type is going to be a 10 millimeter ball socket. And again, 30 pounds of compression force. We do just get this single strut.
And that's about all there is to it for our look at the marine gas strut for your boat hatches and other accessories. So I hope this video has been helpful in deciding if this is the right one for you. If not, we do have other lengths and compression rates here at etrailer.com. So check them out. See if we can find something to get you rolling again. Thanks for watching.
We'll see you next time.
