E-Z Lube-Compatible Assembly for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I have a 1999 Kaufman 50' 3 car wedge tri-axle trailer with Dexter 12x2 8 lug 6k lb axles (3 axles) so I ordered new drums (loaded with bearrings, seals, races, lug nuts) and separately ordered backing plates with brakes. Previously I ordered an equalizer shackle kit from etrailer.com and they shipped very fast with free shipping, so i have been a return customer and will continue to be. Great service, fast shipping great prices, and everything works how it should.

by:

I have ordered all my trailer brakes from e-trailer
I have always been very happy with what I've ordered
If there was something I wasn't sure about I'd look on there web site and find it
Before I ordered from them I shopped around in my own town for parts
what I found is
E-trailer had better parts and someone who was willing to help and not just give you something so you would leave their store because you was asking to many questions

great company to work with

Very fast shipping. Excellent packaging. Instructions were very good.

Super customer service!!

I installed the left assy. today and all went well thanks to all the support and videos. All questions were answered thoroughly and I knew I was in good hands all the way. The product arrived packaged very well without any issues. I will be installing just the break assy. on the right side so that they break even. The only thing I noticed, and I don't know why is that the 8 pressed bolts on the hub were a smaller size than the ones on my 5er. I am glad the nuts were supplied, and hope the smaller size does not interfere with the wheel mounting. 5+ stars for e-trailer.
Instead of crimping the wires together, I soldered them together and then shrink wrapped them, then added water resistant electrical tape around the shrink wrap. I figured this would be more secure than crimping.

No problems. Install was easy, and product worked fine. The only issue was the studs were a different size than what was on the trailer. I had to purchase new nuts at a different Web site.

I gave the wire portion of my order two stars, giving this part of the order one star. I'd give my overall experience with etrailer one star as well. Two main reasons for low ratings: packaging and customer service/support.

by:

had to replace all four drums on EZ lube axles as I had already replaced the brakes with the newer never adjust brake kits and this was the perfect patch. Only thing is this kit comes with the Dexter 10-10 grease seal which has a 2.125 I.D. After measuring the axle seal shaft diameter that was 2.252 I went with a double lip seal GS-2250DL leaving it with a .002 interference fit. My order came in only a couple off days and all the parts were as described and in great packaging.

by:

I ordered the Dexter version specifically to avoid any issues but I had one anyway, the studs are smaller dia. than the OEM hubs that came on my Dexter axles. They send new lug nuts with the kit but they are not appropriate for my aluminum wheels requiring additional expense for new lug nuts. Other than the stud size they are exact replacements.

by:

I contacted James and he helped with with customer support that you just don’t find any more. He took the time to answer my questions and make sure that the parts I needed were the parts I ordered and received. My entire order arrived on the date that they said it would. I would highly recommend E trailer and have already. Recommended them to several fellow ranchers and farmers.

by:

Super fast shipping. Product was in my hands less than 12 hours after I ordered it. Installed and was back up and running in no time flat. Will def be doing business with again in the future for all of my fleets trailer parts.

by:

Bearing races had surface rust. Cleaned with light sandpaper but I cannot be sure the bearings were not compromised.

by:

Very happy with how fast it was shipped and received. It was ordered on Thursday afternoon and arrived the following Monday. Very good quality. I have ordered other items from e-trailer and very happy with their service.

by:

Wrong outer bearing and dust cap, 1 out of 4 hubs. Had to use old parts. Everything else worked fine.

by:

American Made, great product, fit perfect and the service and available videos made etrailer purchasing a no-brainer.

by:

Parts were delivered on time and were exactly as expected. Everything fit and functions as desired. This was my third experience with e trailer, and customer service was once again second to none.

by:

Perfect fit for my Keystone tri-axle trailer. Thanks Marica

by:

Went through the packaging and everything seems to be there. Will know in about a week.

Love the self adjusting brakes. They work great

by:

Had to use the original hub over the bearing. New ones were 1/8” larger in diameter and would not fit.

by:

Great replacement back up hub for trave ling.

by:

Everything seems to go together as they are supposed to. Had a little problem with delivery. But once I inquired and the rep discovered the problem she was quick to fix it. I would give an A+ to customer service. Some problems just happen. But how you fix that problem speaks volumes.

by:

WOW!!Received my order so very quickly and in great condition. the representative I spoke to was very courteous and assured me that the item I ordered would be exactly what I had ordered!!!
Mahalo, all the way from HAWAII11

Product was exactly what was ordered and delivered quickly. I wish all on-line companies were this proficient.

  • How To Use 8 Lug Wheels With the Timbren 3.5K Heavy-Duty Axle-Less Trailer Suspension
The Timbren Heavy-Duty Axle-Less Trailer Suspension part # ASR35HDS02 will work with an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern using the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # 8-219-4UC3-EZ and Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # 23-458-459. The 15123 bearing that the Timbren Heavy-Duty Axle-Less Trailer Suspension uses has the same inner diameter as the 14125A bearing that the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly has so they can be interchanged.

  • Replacement Hubs and Drums and Brakes for Lippert 6,000 Pound Trailer Axles
Since you have 6K Lippert axles with an 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern for the wheels and hubs I assume that the inner bearing is 25580 and the outer is 14125A. It would be worth checking just to be sure. If you have regular axles with no grease fittings at each end then you can use # 8-219-4UC3. If you do have EZ Lube axles with the grease fittings use # 8-219-4UC3-EZ. For either hub and drum assembly you can use right hand side brake assembly # AKEBRK-7R-SA and left hand side # AKEBRK-7L-SA.

It is likely you can replace the 6 lug hubs with 8 lug hubs on your 2018 Livin' Lite Quicksilver 8.5x26FBR with 4,400 lb axles so long as you can ensure compatibility with your spindle. To do this you will need to know your bearing numbers and grease seal inner diameter. The easiest way to do this is call the manufacturer with your VIN, as they should have this information due to how new your toy hauler is. From the information you gave there is a pretty good chance you will have inner...

  • Lug Nuts Shearing off Hub and Drum of 7,000 lb Dexter Axle
I can only make a guess and can't know for certain, but generally speaking, the two main reasons that lug nuts shear off is that they are overtightened - though you can rule that out if you are sure they were torqued to the manufacturer's specs - or that your wheels have elongated, wider holes. This would make the wheel have excessive movement on the lug nut and cause enough vibration for it to shear off. If you need to replace the hub and drum on your 7,000 lb Dexter axle you can use...

  • What is Difference Between Trailer Hubs 42866UC3-EZ and 8-219-4UC3-EZ
The big difference is the grease seal inner diameter which basically indicates what spindle it would fit. The part # 8-219-4UC3-EZ has a grease seal with an inner diameter that is 2.125 inch whereas the part # 42866UC3-EZ has that dimension of 2.25 inch. Also worth noting is that you can swap the grease seal of the # 8-219-4UC3-EZ to the other size with just the part # GS-2250DL.

First let's set you up with the correct brake assemblies. For a kit that has both the left and right hand side you'll want the part # 23-105-106-09. Then for a hub kit that includes all of the needed bearings/seals etc. you'd want the part # 42866UC3-EZ if the seal diameter on your spindle is 2-1/4 inch. If instead the dimension is 2-1/8 inch you'd want the part # 8-219-4UC3-EZ which has the correct seal.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer 7k Axle with Locked Up Wheel
It's probably a bearing that got destroyed due to lack of lubrication which then caused it to look up to the axle's spindle. What you are going to want to do is take it all apart and see what the damage is. Remove the wheel, take off the dust cover of the hub, and then remove the spindle nut that holds the hub to the axle. Hopefully you can then pull the hub off of the axle easily. I'd assume you'd need a new hub/drum like with the part # 8-219-4UC3-EZ but it is possible you could get...
