Hello hitch Fits good but shipping ups after picked up let it sit for over 24 hrs at there building. Then sent it to Illinois before sent it west. Took 3 days on the 2 day special shipping payed extra for.

Also on passenger side if receiver tube was 4 inches shorter and bracket to frame 4 inches longer it would clear all types of exhaust. Luckily I don't have oem muffler or would of had to cut hitch and make a bracket for it to fit. Instead I have skunk2 3 inch exhaust to 4 inch skunk2 muffler. It's half the width of oem. Was able to install hitch by just pushing exhaust over a little bit. But now it rattles against hitch, is rubbing and burning bumper, and sway bar may hit exhaust on hard turns now.

I see that Customer Service has reached out about the shipping. Regarding moving the muffler it is not uncommon to need to do so. We have a good FAQ that can help with stopping rattling.

Etrailer was smooth, Simple, easy, and accurate. I made the dreaded mistake of trying to purchase this hitch on Amazon only to have the wrong one delivered. Sending it back was a hassle and I got hit for shipping charges on the return.

by:

The hitch works well but the transformer shorted out and needed to be replaced in under a year

by:

The wiring harness took me just over a half hour including time to route the power wire from battery to contro unit in the trunk.
I installed the hitch on my 2005 Honda Civic LX by myself in UNDER a half hour. No modification, no drilling.
Great product and fast delivery.
Second purchase from etrailer and I'll be back again for sure.

My trailer hitch is working out well and I havent had any problems with the harness at all. The hitch is sturdy and pulls my camping trailer without difficulty.

Purchased this hitch so I could carry my mountain bike on a bike rack after using a truck mounted rack and was very happy I did. The Curt hitch took about 30 min to install and was ready to rock. The included installation "fishing wire" thing was a lifesaver. It's very solid and kept my bike rack in place. Recommended!

Perfect fit- installed in 15 minutes

I have not made use of the hitch, so thus far am not making any statements thereto. etrailer shipped out my order very quickly, box seemed pretty sturdy, but there were a couple small holes in it. Install was really very straightforward, thanks to the info provided by etrailers and previous purchasers, those same sources were very helpful in determining this was the hitch option I wanted for my Civic. Staff was helpful and on top of it for getting the lowest price refund submitted, and didn't debate or pull out fine print on if they would honor it, and following up to let me know it was refunded back. The refund was back in my account within a day of the original charge. I would strong suggest buying from etrailers, and plan to myself next time I need such products. Back to the hitch: It all lined up and fit well seems rock solid. It fits in nice and tight up under the bumper (as others have shown and said) Also there is not a Class I stop inside my receiver (see picture), which I see as a real bonus, so you can use either Class I or II draw bars & accessories (of course that doesn't change in any way the weight capacities of the hitch or one's vehicle) but opens up choice some. Small downside being it's slightly more difficult to install/change accessories as you have to manually index depth to put pin in. But I see that as a non issue.

Excellent product, very high quality. I was able to install it in under 30 minutes. The included fish wire tool made threading the mounting block and bolt very easy, they dropped right in to the mounting hole. I am using this hitch mainly for my 1upUSA bike rack. The hitch and rack look awesome on my 2001 Honda Civic LX. Thanks etrailer for the great product and fast shipping!

2003HondaCivic

After receiving hitch, (on time, in good order) I peeked under my very low rear end ('03 Honda Civic Hybrid) and was concerned. A skid panel covered one side of the mount and muffler blocked access hole on other side. I couldn't be sure it would work and put off doing the job till I'd have time to deal with problems.
Today I finally had a whole day of leisure (if necessary) and it really wasn't too difficult at all. Of course I had to jack it up and put it on stands and I did have to remove the plastic skid panel and cut/notch it to fit around the hitch bracket after it's installation and I found that fishing the spring backwards on the muffler side solved that trickiness.
Once I got going on it, about two hours.
Good product, good fit and the fishing solution is really cool!
Thanks.

This product was easily installed on my 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid and it will be used for a bicycle rack. This hitch is well-made and very solid. Etrailer included the bolt fisher wire without me asking them to and this was a huge help.
I installed it myself in under an hour. I got the general idea by watching Youtube. I backed my car onto my oil change ramps and followed the diagram instructions. Of note, the Civic hybrid has a plastic heat shield under the rear driver's side but this was easy to move out of the way after removing a couple plastic screws under the bumper.

One year later the hitch receiver works great with my bike rack.

by:

Great product and preferred over the equivalent hitch from the competition because the only thing you see with this hitch is the receiver opening itself. I wanted my car to look like normal when I'm not carrying bikes. No drilling or modification to car needed. I would fight the urge to thread the fishwire through the access hole plain end first, and instead insert the spring-shaped end as instructed. It will be easier to find the spring when it crosses the mounting hole and pull it down. I also found it easier to install the mounting bolt on the passenger side by detaching the muffler mounting rubbers and letting it hang down some.

Hitch has worked fine every time. On a separate note, I still wish there was something I could do to keep the bike rack from swinging left to right,as the 18050 strap only minimizes front to back movement.

I recommend to use a Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 1-1/4" Trailer Hitches part # RM-061-125 to tighten up that connection.

2001 HondaCivic

Product was exactly as advertised. I very much liked the fact that I did not have to drill any holes in my car and I was willing to pay more for this hitch versus other cheaper hitches

Installation instructions were clear and installation was relatively easy with one exception: You have to thread the two carriage bolts and spacers from one hole in the car frame rail to another using a provide fishwire. This proved to be a pretty tricky task despite the detailed instructions. I would have appreciated a video demonstrating this.

We are glad to hear you are happy with the install. We actually do have a fish-wire tutorial video. Though it may not be helpful to you at this point, I am sure others that read your review will be glad to have it. http:/www.etrailer.com/tv-fish_wire.aspx

First issue I had with installation was a hangar / flange that was in the way on the muffler side mounting point. Had to grind that off. Left side went in, center went in, then the right side didn’t connect. There’s a tunnel in the center that makes contact with the hitch before it reaches the right mounting point. So I jacked it up to where it can sit flush. Felt a lot of pressure while doing so. Then the right side didn’t match up with the bolt. I had to re-drill a new hole to mount it. After buying tools, spending 4 hours and taking it on & off about 3 times I was finally able to get it to fit. The installation didn’t mention needing a floor jack, grinder with cut off wheel, and a drill. If this was a cheap hitch I’d understand but for $200 this is ridiculous.

I wanted to start out by complimenting etrailer for their customer service. I ordered the hitch and promptly received an email and a phone call letting me know there was a little delay as the hitch was in route to them and they wanted to know if waiting was ok or if I wanted to change my order. I was very impressed by the the extra effort. This hitch will be used for a bike rack and waiting a couple of extra days in the middle of winter was no perfectly fine.

I ordered the Curt partially due to the fact that there was no drilling for the Civic install and it was indeed very simple to install. The hitch was well packed and fit the car exactly as it should. The bolts were easy to fish through with the included wire and the bolt holes in the hitch lined up very well with the holes in the car frame.

Like I mentioned, the install was very easy. Once I had the car up on jack stands, the install was literally 15 minutes. It took me longer to get the jack out and the car lifted than the actual hitch install.

Easy install and great customer service.

Awesome hitch!! Exceptionally easy to install with included detailed and very easy to follow instructions. Would easily purchase another Curt hitch and would highly recommend others to do so.
However, the vehicle I installed my hitch on recently bit the dust. So I removed the hitch in case I buy a similar vehicle (2003 - 2005 Honda Civic). If not, I have a great used Curt hitch for sale if anyone is interested.

The entire hitch came in one box, and bolted right onto the car with no drilling. The instructions were clear, and we used the youtube videos to help with the wiring. The installation took about 20 minutes for the hitch and 3 hours for the electrical. Hitch is installed. Thanks etrailer!

I primarily chose this hitch receiver for a Honda Civic 2004 because I didn't want to punch notches or drill holes into the chassis as part of the installation

Although I wasn't able to jack up the car for installation, it was only moderately difficult to accomplish within about an hour.

I am about a month into using it, and so far it has performed well.
