Tips for Replacing and Installing Trailer Fenders

Do your best to match the dimensions of the new fenders to your old ones.
- If a fender was damaged during a blowout, use the opposite fender to get the dimensions.
As with all trailer maintenance, don't forget to chock your wheels before getting started.
For bolt-on fenders, use your existing mounting hardware, if possible.
- The old mounting bolts or screws might be stripped or rusted, in which case you'll need to tap them out and buy new hardware.
If removing old, welded-on fenders, either carefully chisel them off yourself or take your trailer to a weld shop to have the fenders professionally removed.
Don't forget to prime and paint the new fenders to keep them from rusting (and to match your trailer's finish).
Before you start drilling, position each fender where you need it and center it over your wheel well.
- Mark where you need to drill (measure twice, drill once).
Don't tighten down the mounting hardware completely until you're sure the fenders are mounted correctly.

It sounds like you have good measurements for your current fenders that will help to narrow down with the fenders we have available. I do recommend checking the clearances on your current fenders to ensure that the new fenders will still have sufficient amount of clearance. Replacement 72" Trailer Fender for Tandem Axle Tilt Bed Trailer
We have two different styles of bolt/weld on fenders that will work great for your trailer. We have Tandem Axle Teardrop Trailer Fender # HP24VR or the standard Tandem Axle Trailer Fender # HP84VR. Both of these replacement fenders are designed to fit tandem axle trailers with 14" and 15" wheels. They measure 72" long which is what you currently have. I like the look of # HP24VR more because it has a more finished look.

Are Tandem Axle Trailer Fenders for Enclosed Trailers Available Individually
The Tandem Axle Trailer Fenders for Enclosed Trailers - Steel - 15" to 16" Wheels - Qty 2 # HP84VR are only available as a pair. If nothing else, you will have a matching spare fender already as a replacement if another is damaged. I'm not sure what size your wheels are, but we do have the Tandem Axle Trailer Fender - Bolt Together - Steel - 14" to 15" Wheels - Qty 1 # HP47VR available individually. This fender has similar dimensions at 71-1/2" long x 9" wide x 20-1/2" tall.

Will Trailer Fenders for 16 Wheels Work for 285/75R16 Tires
You will not have any issues using a fender for 16" wheels like the Single Axle Trailer Fender # HP46VR or Tandem Axle Trailer Fenders # HP84VR with your 285/75R16 tires. Although your tires may be large, they are only 1/2" taller when compared to a more typical 235/85R16 tire. The bigger difference comes from the tire width, but that won't impact the fenders.

Fender Dimensions for 235/80R16 Tires with 68” Fenders
The Kenda 235/80R16 tires item # AM10248 that you were looking at, have a diameter of 30.8", a section width of 9.3", and a wheel diameter of 16". Our only 68" long tandem axle fenders are 9" Wide x 68" long x 17" tall so you would not have enough clearance for that size of tire. If you want to use that size of tire then I recommend item # HP84VR this is a 72" long tandem axle fender that is 10-3/4" Wide x 72" long x 20-1/2" tall that will have plenty of clearance for a set of 235/80R16...
