Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we can take a look at the pre-cut steel backing plate for the Tandem Axle Trailer Fenders. Now this backing plate will help protect the side of your Tandem Axle Trailer from any water or road debris and this backing plate is precut, you can see, to easily fit the Tandem Axle Trailer. It is designed to fit a Tandem Axle Trailer Fender that has a 90 degree back and we do sell the fender separately on our website. It's part number HP44VR and it's listed on this product page as a related product. And when I mentioned that it has a 90 degree back basically what that means is the back edge of the fender that goes up against the trailer will have a 90 degree bend to it.
And that then gives us an area that this backing plate can be up against and be welded to. It will also fit other fenders that basically have a total length of 72 inches and a height from bottom to top of about 20 and a half inches. Now this backing plate itself is a sturdy 18 gauge steel construction. It is made in the USA. A few dimensions on this backing plate itself, if we go length wise from one end all the way to the other end and I get it on the end there and then all the way to this end that's right at 68 and seven eighths inches long.
And the overall height from the very bottom to the very top is right at 12 inches tall. And this part is for a quantity of one backing plate. But that should do it for the review on this pre-cut steel backing plate for the Tandem Axle Trailer Fenders..

It was a perfect fit .. looks good on my trailer too
Box arrived it was crushed in center with one end blown out and backing plates sticking out. Backing plates were slightly bent on end that was sticking out of box.
I am able to straighten to use, but a couple mins and 4 x styrofoam shipping blocks would have gone a long way
Other than that, seems to be a solid well made product
still in excellent shape. excellent service, excellent price.

Product arrived early and fit perfectly. Exactly as advertised. Highly recommend etrailer for all your trailer parts.
Exactly what I ordered and fits fine. Delivery time was correct. Only issue was package was damaged and ends were bent. Metal had sliced thru packing box and bent in delivery truck. I was able to straighten and trim off damage. Suggest you add extra cardboard packing on sharp ends. That's only reason I didn't give it 5 stars.

The back plates are 18-gauge steel. It is recommended to use .023 wire in your mig welder to avoid blowing holes in the material.
