Today we're going to be taking a look at the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver and Coupler Lock Set. This is for inch and 7/8 or two inch balls, part number C23086. It's also available two inch or two and 5/16 balls, part number C23088. This kit comes with everything you need to secure your trailer whether it's coupled or uncoupled. We have our latch lock, our hitch lock, and our coupler lock. All three are keyed alike so you won't have to fumble with additional keys, and two keys are included. The latch lock prevents anyone from prying up on your latch, and uncoupling from your ball.
The hitch lock is going to replace the need for a hitch pin and it secures your ball mount in place. When we're done towing, the coupler lock prevents anyone from hooking up to our trailer and driving off with it. The pin here in the center locks into place, preventing anyone from removing it. The coupler lock it made out of an anodized aluminum, it won't rust or corrode. The latch lock and the hitch lock are steel with a rust-resistant chrome plating. The hitch lock features a 5/8 diameter pin, and it's going to work with class three or class four hitches. Now that we've gone over some features, I'll go ahead and show you how to use it.
To prevent unauthorized hookups, we can simply slide the lock onto our coupler, push up on the bolt underneath, and then push in on the lock. It's not going anywhere. Both of these coupler locks are going to work with couplers that fit two inch balls, but both of them may not fit your coupler. To determine which one will work, we need to take a measurement. The smaller of the two coupler locks has about a three and 3/4 inch opening, the larger one has about a four and 1/2 inch opening. The widest point here at the front of our coupler, where our coupler lock would slide into place, is about three and 7/8 of an inch wide, so we need to use the larger of the two coupler locks.
That's going to be the one for two inch balls or two and 5/16 balls. When we're ready to connect to our trailer, we can take one of our two keys, doesn't matter which one, they're the same, insert into the lock, turn it until it pops out, and then we can simply slide it off. Then we can come to our trailer hitch, take our ball mount, slide it into our receiver tube and line up our pin holes. Then we can take our hitch lock, the lock does screw into place to the pin, so we'll need our keys and we can twist until that lock comes off. We'll slide it through, and put it back in place, and then screw it back in place with the keys. Once it's tight, we can our key out, put on our dust cap, and we're all set. We know our ball mount's not going anywhere, let's make sure our trailer isn't either.
We'll take our included latch lock, slide it through our lock hole here, and put it on as far as it'll go. As you could see, I can't pray up on the latch and that's going to complete our look at the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver and Coupler Lock Set.

I had to file down parts of the hitch to allow it to slip on. Once that was accomplished, the locks all work great! I love that everything is controlled with one key. I highly recommend this equipment.
