Will Curt Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit Work With Triple Axle Kaufmann Trailer

Question:

Hello, I have a tri-axle 7K/axle Kaufmann brand trailer. Is the Curt C52044s battery capacity adequate for emergency application of my brakes? This trailer is only used occasionally, it may sit for 6-8 months at a time in an unheated shed. I want to keep the battery in good condition, so I would like to know whether I can simply provide a constant 12VDC to the trailer connector when it is parked in the barn. Will the Curts trickle charger do a good job of maintaining the battery, or do I have to remove the battery every time I am done using the trailer and put the battery on a maintainer? Hi Eric; the Curt Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit with Built-In Battery Charger # C52044 will work for your triple axle Kaufmann trailer. This is designed for 1 to 3 axle trailers with electric brakes so triple axle isn't a problem. As long as you have 12V power running to the connector the built-in charger will do a fine job. It also prevents overcharging so it won't damage the battery in storage.
