Most brake controllers take up valuable knee room or clutter the dash, but this one keeps things neat. The Redarc Tow-Pro Trail mounts the main unit behind the dashboard and leaves only a small knob visible—just 9/16" wide and 1-7/8" long. It fits cleanly into a switch panel or console spot so it looks like a factory-installed dial instead of an aftermarket box. That single knob handles everything: adjusting brake power, activating manual override, and showing color-coded alerts.
Challenging terrain can make towing unpredictable, but the Tow-Pro Trail’s off-road mode gives you direct control over the trailer brakes. You can preset the braking force instead of relying entirely on your tow vehicle. Keep it lighter in sand or mud so the trailer doesn’t dig in, or turn it up for steep descents to keep the trailer from pushing forward. A quick double tap on the knob activates the mode, and the LED glows green to confirm it’s engaged.
Jerky stops disappear thanks to proportional control. The internal 3-axis accelerometer senses how hard you’re braking and applies matching power to your trailer brakes. That means smooth deceleration whether you tap lightly or brake hard. It works with up to 3 axles (6 brake assemblies) and supports both electric and electric-over-hydraulic systems. The result is steady, even braking that reduces wear and improves safety.

Complicated wiring isn’t needed here. The included custom harness plugs directly into your existing tow package for a straightforward setup. The small main unit measures only 4" long x 3-3/8" wide x 1-1/8" tall and can be mounted anywhere within reach of the 3' cable that connects it to the knob. Secure it with screws, tape, or zip ties, plug everything in, and it’s ready to calibrate automatically as you drive.
Safety isn’t just about stopping power—it’s also about durability and compliance. The Tow-Pro Trail meets or exceeds UNECE R21 and FMVSS 201 standards for sustainability and safety. With an output voltage range of 9V–32V, a 25-amp continuous current rating, and compatibility with both 12-volt and 24-volt systems, it’s made for dependable performance mile after mile.

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Redarc Tow-Pro Trail proportional brake controller with custom wiring harness. Now, this is specifically designed to fit the vehicles that you see there on your screen. As you can see, this is going to fit your Ford Broncos, Expeditions, trucks, and Lincoln MKT and Navigator. So I give you that listing there, but it is very important that you still go through our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.com. And our fit guide will confirm if this harness will work for you or if it doesn't, it will give you a comparable harness that will work for you.
So again, make sure to use a fit guide to get exactly what you need. But this brake controller is going to require a minimal dash space in your Ford vehicle and it's very simple to install and operate. This is going to give you a factory look and feel. It's gonna look like it always belonged on your dash or on your console. This brake controller is gonna activate your trailer brakes in proportion to your vehicle's braking action.
It's gonna automatically adjust the trailer's braking based on the deceleration of your tow vehicle. Now, this brake controller comes with unique features. It's gonna let you respond to any terrain or weather that you meet while on the road. The user control mode is going to give you direct control over your trailer's braking so that you can have exactly the level of power output you need for any situation. So this brake controller is gonna be perfect for off-roading or adverse weather conditions.
In this mode, the user control mode, you're going to be able to use this tow-pro trail brake controller to apply your trailer brakes with the same preset amount of power each time you activate the brakes in your vehicle. You can set the power low if you're towing through sand or mud so that the trailer doesn't stop with too much force and act as an anchor, when on as steep descent, you can set the power to a higher level to ensure that the trailer's momentum doesn't cause to push against your tow vehicle. Now, this control knob is going to mount to your dash or other easily accessible area like your, maybe, a center console. And this is going to allow for a quick, easy adjustment of the braking power, and it's just gonna be with the turn of the dial as you can see here. It's also going to give you manual override by just pressing the knob to activate.
And it also is gonna give you simple diagnostics with a bright color LED in the dial. Now, this main unit is going to install out of sight, so there's not gonna be any more banging your knee on a bulky controller when you're climbing into your vehicle. No interference with airbags or other vehicle accessories and of course, no hard to reach override lever, or impossible to read screen. This can be mounted in any position, any direction, and angle with the included mounting kit that you see right here. There's no complicated wiring. This custom-fit harness is going to let you plug in and go. And if you don't already have a seven-way plug at the back of your vehicle, take a look at our exclusive seven and four-way brake controller installation kit. In the search field, you can just punch in ETBC7. Again, ETBC7, and that's going to take you to that kit if you're needing a seven-way at the back of your vehicle. Now, this does meet or exceed both UNECER21 and the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 201 regulations for sustainability and safety. This brake controller is for trailers with up to three axles and six brake assemblies. It's designed for use with electric or electrical or hydraulic trailer brakes, and it does work with 12-volt and 24-volt vehicle electrical systems. Let me give you some measurements of this unit before we wrap up our time together here. Looking at the overall length, we're sitting right at four inches. The overall width about 3 3/8 inches and the overall height about 1 1/8 inches tall. You will receive instructions to guide you through the installation and operation. I think that's gonna wrap up our real quick look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

super easy, works great
Components specific to my vehicle made for easy installation. Mice system!
Easy to install and works perfectly on 2023 Ford Bronco Outer Banks.
Needed the product next day. Hassle fee transaction. Total awesome experience. Tracked the sales process right to my door. Thank you Etrailer!
It worked great - thank you!
Great product with easy install. It works perfectly. Thanks for the recommendation etrailer!
I called for further information on another Redarc Controller. Will was very polite and helpful, clarifying the finer details and fielding my questions prior to purchase. Excellent products and customer service from etrailer. Many thanks.
Just like OEM at a cheaper price and not on back order for three months like Mopar.
They always have what I need, makes things simple and easy.
Super product! Easy to install and setu p.
I wasn’t sure spending the extra money on this was necessary cause I had always been using the other style controls for ever and they worked fine. I bought this because of the limited leg room under my dash on my new rig. After installing this, not only did I have more refined braking control, I mounted the control knob where I didn’t have to hunch over to reach for adjustment or manual braking. And now the reason for buying it was just an added bonus.
The Redarc controller that I ordered to install in my Lexus GX460 was perfect! I ordered the Tow Pro Trail version. The harness to connect the factory trailer harness under the dash was the correct one for my Lexus. lling the controller that se are a little more work than installing the ones that hang under the dash, but well worth it!
Just works very well.
Excellent product. Updated from a Curt wireless Bluetooth controller. The installation of the Redarc is plug and play. No modifications of any kind required. Being able to manually set brake force and to operate the trailer brakes independently is just great. Highly recommend.
Great workmanship and easy to install. I installed the main unit right below the steering wheel behind the panel per the video by redarc. If you install the dial where the 12v outlet plug is currently located, you can find another place to put your 12v port like i did. It was simple to adjust to my tandem axle trailer. Glad I purchased this instead of the more expensive factory controller.
Easy to install. And, with plug n play for the Bronco, once the trailer was hooked up it was ready for use.
Its great. Works just as advertised. The only gripe is that the provided switch slot is not the factory one for the frontier and it moves around. I ended up modifying the blank switch cover and using that instead, but overall a great kit. Wiring was easy with the provide harness for the frontier.
I always deal with etrailer , best prices , quality items , great fast shipping
Parts are perfect for my vehicle. Etrailer makes it too easy. Great comunication also.Plug and play just like advertised.
Installation was a breeze with the custom harness. Plug and play with all the electrical components. I adapted a marine surface mount 12 volt plug housing as a mounting solution for the control knob, eliminating the need for any drilling.
For my 2021 Gladiator with factory tow. Everything including specific harness and little round mount for the control knob to replace the 12v outlet was in the kit. Hardest part of install was learning how to open the dash panel. The controllor powered up and is working as expected on normal road driving. Very straight forward and no struggles.
Highly recommend!!
Installed in a modified Tacoma, with a serious off-road trailer. I use this system camping / off-road 40+ nights per year, mostly in the Sierra Mts. I have blown 2 other brake systems which caused unsafe conditions. I had just a few hours to install the RedArc system before leaving on a trip. The truck specific plug and play setup was quick and easy with a very clean simple dash button. It has been dependable over the year.
Haven't install it yet. I did see it came without installion directions
Very easy to install and works great
Awesomeness... Thank you.. HELL YEH... Merry Christmas to All at etrailer
