Perfect Fit for Heavy-Duty Axles: Comprehensive Replacement Oil Cap Kit

Replacing worn-out or leaking oil caps can be a hassle but not with the Replacement Oil Cap Kit for Dexter Axles. This kit includes an oil cap, O-ring, and plug designed specifically for Dexter 9,000-lb to 15,000-lb axles. With an overall diameter of 4.36 inches, a threaded diameter of 3.97 inches, and an inside diameter of 3.59 inches, it ensures a snug fit. This kit is perfect for avoiding those pesky oil leaks and maintaining the integrity of your trailer's durability from axles manufactured as early as October 1989.

Quality and Durability: A Reliable Solution for High-Mileage Trailers

Long road trips demand reliable equipment. Users have noted the superior seal and construction of this replacement oil cap, emphasizing how it has stood up over remarkably long distances without any signs of yellowing, cracking, or leakage. It’s a significant component if you want to keep your trailer’s axle in peak condition, no matter how many miles you travel.

Streamlined Installation Process: Hassle-Free Fit and Functionality

When time is of the essence, you need replacement parts that are easy to install. This oil cap kit is lauded for its straightforward installation, sometimes taking as little as a few minutes. Its precise fitting means you’re back on the road quickly, reducing maintenance downtime.

Enhanced Sealing Performance: Say Goodbye to Oil Leaks

Oil leaks can ruin a trip faster than you can say ""trailer maintenance." With its high-quality O-ring and robust sealing capabilities, this kit ensures that oil stays where it belongs, inside the hub. No more worrying about spotting leakage the morning after a long drive.

Built for Precise Torque Application: Reliable and Easy to Install

Over-torquing is a common pitfall that leads to damage and leaks. Thankfully, this product is designed for a perfect fit using a torque wrench set between 20 to 30-foot pounds, preventing common mishaps. This ensures that your oil cap is secure and protected against over-tightening, thus avoiding future damage.

Exact Match for Dexter Axles: Specifically Designed Compatibility

This replacement kit isn't just a one-size-fits-all solution—it’s custom-calibrated for 9K to 15K Dexter axles. Ensuring exact compatibility with your axle type, it matches specific kits such as the Dexter 21-36 oil caps, so you can proceed to replace with confidence knowing that the part is designed exactly for your equipment.

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna take a look at the replacement oil cap kit for 9,000-lb to 15,000-lb Dexter axle. Now this cap is the Dexter 21-36 oil cap. It is designed to fit a 9,000-lb axle manufactured from October 89 to July of 2009. Fits the 10,000-lb axles manufactured prior to July of 2009. And also fits the 12,000-lb and 15,000-lb heavy duty axles. The cap itself is a clear, polycarbonate construction.

It includes everything shown here. The oil cap, the O-ring to seal it and then the rubber plug. A few specs on this, overall diameter edge to edge is gonna be right at 4.36". The threaded diameter, the part that threads into the hub, is gonna be 3.97".Inside diameter, is right at 3.59" and then the overall height from the bottom to the very top is right at 2" tall. But that should do it for the review on the replacement oil cap kit for 9,000-lb to 15,000-lb Dexter axles..

  • Parts Needed To Covert Electric Drum Brakes On Triple Axle Texas Pride Car Hauler To Hydraulic Disc
I was able to determine that your 9,000lb axles on your Texas Pride Trailer will accept the Dexter Axle Oil Hub # 008-430-03. Thank you for the pictures and information of your axle! I called Dexter and your Dexter P12 SLR axle with Serial Number D-423-4057 has a 9000lb axle rating, and uses an 8 on 6-1/2 hub and drum assembly with 5/8" studs like you mentioned. Although I do not have an option to retrofit your hubs I do have a solution. What I can offer is a complete replacement with the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for Heavy-Duty 15K Axles # DX78QR. If you're just looking for replacement races, bearings, and seals we have those available as well. This hub uses an 8 on 275 mm bolt pattern. For your Dexter 12,000 lb axle the seal you are looking for based on my research is the # 10-56. It has an inner diameter of 3.125 inches and an outer diameter of 4.5 inches. This will work well for oil or grease. If you are needing the other seal for an oil bath, you would also want the Replacement Oil Cap Kit for 9,000-lb to 15,000-lb Dexter Axle # RG04-270 which comes with the cap, o-ring, and rubber plug.

  • What is the Torque Rating for Trailer Hub Oil Cap Kit # 21-36
There isn't a special wrench that we carry for oil caps such as # RG04-270. But you probably won't need one because the manufacturer recommends to install the caps to 20-30 foot pounds. You might be able to get to that by hand. Otherwise some channel locks could work. Just be cautious to not over-tighten.

  • What Could Cause a Trailer Oil Bath Cap to Crack
It is entirely possible that the cap for an oil bath hub could get warm enough that touching cold water could cause it to crack but the cap would have to be very hot for that to happen. It is unlikely that it would get that hot unless there was no oil in the hub so you will want to check that for sure. Also if the caps were over-tightened that could stress them and then, once moving, the centrifugal force could cause further damage. We have several different oil caps, see link, but none...

  • Trailer Hubs Leak Oil After Installing New Seal
If you have oil leaking from the rear of the hub then that would indicate you either have the wrong size seal, you are over torquing the spindle nut, or you just have too much oil. I recommend you use the serial number on the axle that way you can reach out to the manufacturer to confirm you have the correct size. The spindle nut on most axles will be torqued down (Usually 50 Ft. Lbs.), backed off, and then tightened hand tight. There should be a fill line on the oil cap to go off of. If...

  • Is there a Trailer oil Bath Hub Oil Cap for a Dexter 6,000 Pound Axle
The 21-36 oil cap, # RG04-270, fits 9K (after 10/1989) and 10K GD (2 piece drum), and 10K to 15K Dexter axles. The 21-35, # RG04-230, fits 6K to 8K ( and 9K before 10/1989) Dexter axles. It would be too large with its 2-7/8 inch thread diameter. All of these oil caps are for oil bath hubs. If you are replacing a dust cap, you probably have regular hubs.
