If you want a tow bar that just works, this one does exactly that. The Roadmaster Tracker Tow Bar has a 5,000-lb capacity and a full-length crossbar that adds solid strength and support between your vehicle and your RV. The sturdy steel construction and high-tech powder coat finish stand up to long trips and all kinds of weather. It’s a straightforward, coupler-style design that connects to a 2" ball, making it a solid fit for those who like simple setups that stay secure mile after mile.
Hooking up doesn’t need to be complicated. Reviewers say the Tracker is easy to install and simple to use—just line it up, latch it down, and go. The fixed-arm design keeps things steady while towing, and when it’s time to disconnect, the bar folds flat for storage. At 38 lbs, it’s light enough to handle without a struggle but heavy-duty enough to trust on cross-country runs.
Rain, dust, and road grime can wear down moving parts over time. The Tracker’s sealed arms keep internal components protected, while the corrosion-resistant steel body and durable powder coat finish help it stay in great shape through years of use. Even after long trips or rough weather, it feels as solid as the day you bolted it on.
When the trip’s over, you don’t have to wrestle with bulky gear. The Tracker folds down neatly for storage, so it’s easy to tuck away in a compartment or garage space. It’s ideal for travelers who like to keep their setup clean and compact between adventures.
This tow bar fits most Roadmaster Crossbar-Style base plates and can also be used with etrailer or Demco base plates when paired with the correct adapters (sold separately). The crossbar measures 33-1/2" long and mounts 31" center to center, giving you a secure and consistent connection every time. It’s a simple, dependable match for anyone who wants to tow without overcomplicating the setup.
Flat towing can be a much more convenient way to take your car RVing with you than using a trailer or a tow dolly. It'll save you storage space both at home and at the campsite, and it takes less time and hassle to hook up.
To flat tow your vehicle, there are 5 basic components you're going to need: a tow bar, a base plate kit, a safety cable set, tow bar wiring, and a flat tow braking system.
| For the RV | Between the RV and Towed Car | For the Towed Car |
|---|---|---|
| Hitch | Tow bar | Base plate |
| Wiring plug | Safety cables | Braking system |
| Wiring adapter cord | Wiring kit/diodes |
The custom-fit base plate installs on the frame of your toad so you can connect the car to your RV with a tow bar. Hook up safety cables between the vehicles to ensure that the toad does not separate from the motorhome if the tow bar becomes detached. Tow bar wiring syncs your vehicle's signal lights with your motorhome's tail lights, as required by law in most states. Finally, the flat tow braking system - also required in most states - activates the brakes in the toad when you hit the brakes in the RV, making for smoother, safer braking, and preventing wear on your motorhome.

Good Basic Tow Bar

Great. Use it for towing all the time. Have a tent trailer and a small flat bed for dump runs and what not. Tip: make sure you pay attention to how the light wiring is supposed to run past the bar. Get some good large zip ties.

Okay! Its been a year now totalin around 7000 miles, covering 6 western states, on everything from freeways to dirt desert tracks and everything in between. I wouldnt change a single word of my original review. To add: there are no signs of wear or need for repair. Even the paint is still perfect. The most satisfying purchase of the year.Add another star!

During the year since I purchased this tow bar we have towed the explorer from the Canadian border in the Rockies to the Mexican border in the southwest. Hundreds of those miles are over unpacked roads in the mountains. We have had ZERO problems. And would certainly recommend the product.

Hi.......I read your review of the Roadmaster Tracker tow bar and am considering purchasing this model. I have to admit, a major consideration is the affordability of this model. The RV dealers in my area are quoting me prices in the neighborhood of $4000 to outfit my RV to tow my Honda CRV. Base plate, tow bar, wiring, brake assist,,,,the works. Way over my budget, so am wondering if there is a more economical way to tow my vehicle.I am thinking of asking how much to only install a base plate on the Honda.... then going with this tow bar unit. I can get magnetic lights to use when I tow again, trying to keep the price down. Is this tow bar easy to connect and disconnect? Any feedback greatly appreciated. Thanks....Wayne
