Recommended Base Plates For 2011 Ford Focus Compatible With Roadmaster Tracker And Flat Tow Parts

Published 02/03/2017

Question:

I was looking on your web site and came across RM-155. Do you know if there is enough room in my 2011 Focus to accommodate a second bulb? I think that could be far easier than using the diode system.

For your 2011 Ford Focus, in order to use the Roadmaster Tracker Tow Bar, your only option is to use the Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # 524413-1A and unfortunately the instructions you have are all I can offer. The pictures help walk you through it. In the attached instructions you will drill 2 holes and the location will be based on the bracket's other holes that fit into predrilled locations, so it will be easy to mark accurately. The torque specs for the bolts are at the bottom on the instruction and I recommend using Loctite # LT37420 to secure your bolts.

If you want to use # BX2199 base plates, you can use the # BX7322 for a similar tow bar to the Tracker.

These baseplates will work with the Roadmaster Tracker Tow Bar - 2" Ball - 5,000 lbs, # RM-020 you referred to. I recommend getting the # e98888 trailer coupler lock to secure your vehicle along with the RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables - 6,000 lbs, # RM-643.

For your vehicle wiring, I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This will give you the wire to connect your vehicle to your motorhome and the kit to wire your vehicle without compromising your vehicle's factory wiring while utilizing it at the same time.

For your vehicle braking, I recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # SM99251. This system is installed and adjusted only once upon installation. After that, you don't need to worry about any further adjustments. This is a great system that lets you set it and forget it. The Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles, # RM-88400, is required for your vehicle.

If you need a ball mount for your system, I've attached an article to help you determine the correct rise or drop needed for your application.

The Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit with Bulbs, # RM-155, will not work on your 2011 Ford Focus. If you are looking for a tail light option that does not require splicing into your vehicle's tail light wiring, then the only option is a magnetic light kit like part # TL21RK.
