Bias Tires vs. Radial Tires

Bias vs. radial tire graphic

Bias ply tires are designed for off-road or agricultural applications. They are built with thick, durable nylon cords that are positioned at a 30- to 45-degree angle to the direction of travel. The layers alternate in a crisscross pattern, making the sidewalls stiffer so that the entire tire is able to flex easily. As a result, the tire provides a smooth ride and improved handling when trailering on uneven surfaces.

Same great quality as the pair I bought earlier with wheels. This one is to be the spare and these are great tires.

by:

tires are strong and will work great with my trailer. Will give me peace of mind going down the road

by:

Everything was good

by:

Ordered two of these tires to replace two that are failing. Like the increased load range on these tires and perform well on the road. However, the two tires I needed to replace were because of loss of a portion of the tread on one of them and an area of extreme wear/cupping on the other tire. Speculate this was because I left the tires on the trailer over the four months of inactivity during winter season and they were sitting on a concrete surface. Lesson learned and will remove them and store indoors this winter

I am completely satisfied with the products and would order again.

by:

Tires came standing upright in a big box, making them easy to mount and air up because they didn't get deformed. Price was great and they are functioning properly.

by:

Better tires than [online store]. Great price. Will shop again.

by:

Yor service is a very good thanks I'm very happy with the service

by:

etrailer gets both thumbs up. They carried the high load range tires I could not find locally, priced right, and delivered promptly. I received the entire order correctly and on time. Thanks to their free shipping offer, I was also able to add a trailer light which pushed my order across the threshold for free shipping making it, in essence, a freebie.
I'll definitely go to etrailer first next time.

I purchased two 5.70.8 tires for my golf cart trailer. I ordered them on Sunday evening. I had some questions so called Etrailer and talked to Phillis. She answered all my questions and then actually competed my order and said tires would be shipped Monday ground transportation 5 to 7 days.
I
I thanked her said ok but would lose six or seven days without a cart. Low and behold she called me back and up graded my shipping to primer shipping
For same cost. Tires shipped on Monday received them Wednesday afternoon and was back on the road to golf on Thursday. Thank you .

These tires are very ruggedly built. They carry a load rating of D, and the stout construction is impressive. They are a bit more difficult to mount because of the stiff, rugged construction. So it takes some muscle and some patience if you are using hand tools to mount them. This is a nice upgrade over the tires that were originally installed on my trailer.

Order tracking done the way every company should be doing it

The tires are perfect for my application -DW-58 RV platform- with even greater durability, both on and off road, than hoped for. That said, both wheel valve stems leaked and had to be replaced with metal high pressure stems. During the replacement it was discovered both rubber valve stems had cuts from the wheels valve stem hole. PLUS, one of the holes was egg shaped! That wheel has since been recycled at a scrap yard.

by:

Great product. Upgraded from B to D's. Wish these came with rims because they're impossible to mount yourself. Tire shop cost $10 per mount though. Already put 300 miles on them and no longer have the worry of overloaded tires. So far so good and arrived on time in perfect condition. Thanks!

by:

Excellent product, price, and very fast shipping. Would definitely recommend this company for all trailer needs.

by:

One of the two tires blew up while hauling a light load at highway speeds (65mph).
For what I paid for the tires, I was very unhappy and got the royal run-around from the dealer and then passed off to the mfg. and got no joy from them. Save your money and just get HD tires from the big box stores.

by:

great product and price

by:

I've had nothing but good luck with kenda trailer tires, I don't even bother looking at other brands!

by:

These tires are wearing very well. I like the load rating since I occasionally carry things that might be kind of heavy.

by:

OUTSTANDING customer service. Korren C. was very helpful in providing exactly the correct item(s). Ordering was simple, quick and done with a high degree of professionalism. I remain an avid etrailer customer due to their fast and courteous service as well as their knowledge of their products.Delivery of items arrived BEFORE anticipated date.

by:

Just received them today so this is not a total review but from a service standpoint they are great. Received a quick email from George to let me know they received my order. I wasn't in a hurry for the tires but they got here very quickly. I'll be buying more trailer parts from these folks in the future.

  • Can 8" Trailer Wheels Be Upgraded to 10" Trailer Wheels and Fit Widthwise
For your application you need to stick with your 8" wheels, otherwise you're looking at tires with a larger width and will likely rub against the trailer frame as you stated. Unfortunately there aren't any 10" wheels with an offset to give you enough clearance. If you're needing to replace your 8" tire then I recommend checking out the Kenda K353 Bias Trailer Tire # AM10013. This is a 5.70-8 size tire with a load range of D (1,075 lbs at 100 psi) and fits 8" x 3-3/4" wheels. Attached...

  • Recommendation For A 5.7-8 Trailer Tire That Is Rated For Faster Than 65 MPH
From my research and our available inventory, the maximum speed rating for a 5.70-8 trailer tire like Item # AM10013 is 65 mph. I do not know what your current tires are rated for but they might say somewhere on the sidewall. For example, an "L" rating has a maximum speed of 75 mph and an "M" rating has a maximum speed of 81 mph. Whatever the speed rating, do not exceed it because it will cause heat to build up in your tire which can cause it to fail. Radial tires are generally better...

  • Does Going to Smaller Trailer Ride Affect Ride Quality
You would be losing 2 inches of total tire diameter by making that switch. Most likely that means the trailer would slightly bounce more. Would also lose a bit of ground clearance. Better option would be to stick with same size with replacement tire part # AM10013.

The best tire upgrade we can recommend for the wheels you have would be going to the slightly larger tire size of 5.70-8 like the part # AM10013. This has a Load Range of D and a capacity of 1,075 lbs at 100 psi and would work well for your application.

  • Can I Upgrade from a 4.800/4.00-8 Tire to a 5.7/8-8 Tire on a Time Out Tent Trailer
You can upgrade to a higher rated tire but the overall diameter will go up 2 inches and typically will end up also have a wider section width. If your trailer can accommodate the larger diameter and width then this is a possible solution for your trailer. Both the 4.80/4.00-8 and the 5.7/8-8 tires will fit a 3-3/4 inch rim width, so a tire like # AM10013 with a load range of D will have an overall diameter of 18 inches when fully inflated and have a section width of 5.8 inches. • Is Larger 5.70-8 Trailer Tire a Better Option to Replace 4.80-8
A larger trailer tire basically wins in every category like you mentioned. Less rolling resistance, less affected by bumps in road for smoother ride quality, and bearings/hub spins less so in theory less wear and tear. So as long as you have room for a larger size it's a great idea. The difference between the two size of 4.80 and 5.70 is two inches of overall diameter. This translates into one less inch of fender clearance since the diameter of a tire is split on either side of the spindle....

  • Can a 5.70-8 Tire Replace a 4.80-8 Size Trailer Tire
Yes, a 5.70-8 tire will fit the same rim that a 4.80-8 tire fit. They both are designed to fit 8 inch diameter rims that are 3-3/4 inches wide. The larger tire will end up being 2 inches taller overall so you would end up with 1 inch less of fender clearance vertically. For a tire in this size that would work well you would want the part # AM10013. This is a Load Range D tire with a 1,075 lb capacity at 100 psi. I attached a review video for you to check out as well.

  • What Size Wheel Does Trailer Tire Size 5.70-8 Fit
The tire size you need is a 5.70-8 like the part # AM10013 that you referenced. The wheel diameter difference that you mentioned is because you are measuring the mounting flange as well which does not factor in terms of actual wheel diameter and it is an inch tall total. So basically if you were to measure a trailer wheel you would need to subtract an inch from overall diameter to get correct diameter.

First, bigger tires require that you have enough clearance around the existing tires on the trailer for the larger size. The tires that we carry are rated for 65 miles per hour (unless otherwise stated on the tires).
