Are type S required?

Yes, looking at the owners manual for your 2020 Ford Transit T250 you are required to use SAE Class S snow chains or cables. You will need to confirm your ability to use tire chains based on your tire size and drive type in the owners manual.
Assuming that you have the 235/65R16 tires and either a rear wheel drive or AWD non dually axle I recommend the Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains # TH01594245. These use a self-centering, self-tensioning system with nylon bumpers that will not damage your wheels. The set will include the chains for one axle which is all that can be used on your Transit.
