Hello William, thanks for reaching out. We do have an excellent S type chain option for the 225/55R18 tires on your 2018 Crosstrek. I recommend the following:

- Konig Tire Chains, diamond pattern, square link, assisted tensioning — part # TH01221104

These are drape over chains, which makes them much easier and faster to install compared to traditional ladder style chains that require you to lay them out and drive over them. They also include a built in tensioning system, so you won’t need separate tensioners. Konig chains are known for top tier durability and performance, and with proper care they can last for years. They even come with a 5 year warranty, which really speaks to their quality.

This is definitely one of the best options for your Subaru. They fit well, provide great traction, and are highly recommended.

Are you planning to use the chains regularly, or are they more for emergency and just in case situations?

We live near the socal mountains, and go cross country skiing or snow shoeing. About 6 miles to where we go. 3 times a year. Might not actually needed some times

@WilliamB Oh nice! I’m actually from SoCal originally, so I know the area and how quickly the weather can change up in the mountains. I think you’ll be really happy with the Konig chains. I see your order already went through for the single pair, so you’re all set there. It’s always a smart move to practice installing them in your driveway a couple of times before you actually need them. Its much easier than trying to learn on the side of the road in the snow. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help!
