Features to know about

Built for Serious Hauling: Load Range G with 4,080-lb Capacity at 110 psi

When you’re loaded heavy, you want a setup that keeps its cool. The Maxxis ST235/80R16 radial tire carries up to 4,080 lbs at 110 psi thanks to its Load Range G, 14-ply rating. A high-load tread compound controls heat on long pulls, while the dual-cord body casing and reinforced sidewalls stay stable under repeated weight cycles. It’s a confident match for demanding hauls without extra bulk.

Stable at Highway Speeds: Radial Construction with Speed Rating L (75 mph)

Made for the open road, this ST radial tire tracks straight and runs cool even on long interstate drives. The rib pattern design helps reduce irregular wear for longer life, and the premium inner liner slows air loss so inflation stays consistent. Rated for up to 75 mph, it’s built to handle real highway use without wandering or overheating.

Ready to Install and Balanced from the Start: Bead-Balanced Tire and Wheel Assembly

No need to chase weights or schedule mounting time. This combo comes pre-mounted and bead balanced using internal tire balancing beads. That means smoother rides and extended tire life right out of the box. You bolt it up and roll on knowing balance is handled from the inside out.

Corrosion Resistance That Lasts: Aluminum Wheel with Steel Inserts

The 16" x 7" Eagle aluminum wheel combines strength with a black machined finish that resists rust and road grime. Steel lug nut inserts protect the bolt holes from wear so you don’t have to re-torque as often. With a wheel capacity of 4,080 lbs and an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern, it’s a rugged setup that looks sharp and holds up in all conditions.

Peace of Mind Coverage: Maxxis “No Excuses” Guarantee and Roadside Assistance

If something goes wrong under normal use, Maxxis backs it with a 1-year No Excuses Guarantee for free replacement. You also get 2 years of 24/7 roadside assistance across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico, plus a 5-year limited warranty on the radial ST tire and lifetime structural coverage on the wheel.

Determining Bolt Pattern

1. Count the lug holes

Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).

Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug

2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.

Center to Center
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"

2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).

Center to Outside Edge
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Glad these worked well for you Dennis! Have you had your boat on the water much this summer?

I’ve been really impressed with the Maxxis M8008 tires. If you’re looking for a high-quality trailer tire but don’t want to pay top-shelf prices, these are worth a look. Maxxis has a solid reputation, and the M8008s often get compared to the Goodyear Endurance, but they usually cost a bit less, which makes them a good value in my book.

The build quality seems excellent. The sidewalls feel sturdy, and the tread design looks just as well-made as some of the more expensive brands. What stands out most to me is how well they handle heat. Maxxis uses a proprietary tread compound that keeps the tires cooler on long hauls that gives me confidence that they will hold up over time.

Another nice touch is that they come pre-balanced from the factory. It’s a small detail, but it really helps smooth out the ride and cuts down on vibration.

Overall, I’d say the M8008 is a dependable, well-built tire that performs like a premium option without the premium price tag. If you tow often and want something reliable and cost-effective, these are hard to beat.

  • How Much Does The Maxxis ST235/80R16 Radial Tire w/ 16" Eagle Aluminum Wheel MXS59FR Weigh?
Hi Carl! The Maxxis ST235/80R16 Radial Tire w/ 16" Eagle Aluminum Wheel - 8 on 6-1/2 - LR G - Bead Balanced # MXS59FR weighs right at 80 pounds, so it's pretty beefy. In case you were curious, it also has 4,080 lbs of capacity at 110 psi and an L speed rating (75 mph). The balance beads also mean there is no need to have it balanced once you get it, which is a very nice feature! What are you wanting to install this on?

  • Are Trailer Wheels Hub Centric Or Lug Centric? Maxxis ST235/80R16 16" Eagle Aluminum Wheel MXS59FR
Good question, Terry. Like most trailer wheels, the # MXS59FR uses a lug-centric design, meaning it centers on the 1/2-20 conical lug nuts, not the hub. The 3.19 inch pilot hole just needs to clear your hub nose. Torque them to 90–120 ft-lbs and recheck after 50 miles. Do you already have a torque wrench on hand, or would you like me to suggest one that works well for trailer lugs?

  • Upgrading Load Range E To Load Range G Tires And 8 Lug 6-1/2" Wheels For Gooseneck Flatbed Trailer
You can, Michael, and the # MXS59FR makes it easy. It’s a complete pre-mounted setup with the ST235/80R16 Load Range G Maxxis tire already bead balanced on a 16" aluminum wheel with lug pattern of 8 on 6-1/2". That means you won’t need to worry about separate valve stems or mounting - just bolt them on and you’re ready to roll. You’ll get noticeably better stability and cooler running temps than with your old Load Range E tires. What are you usually hauling - equipment or livestock? That...

  • Which Wheels And Tires Fit A 2018 Forest River Salem 26DBLE Travel Trailer?
Good question, Ron. The # MXS59FR ST235/80R16 Radial Tire w/ 16" Eagle Aluminum Wheel - 8 on 6-1/2 is built for much heavier trailers with 8-lug hubs, so it wouldn’t fit your Salem’s running gear. Your trailer likely uses 3,500-lb axles with a 5 on 4-1/2 pattern (according to my research - I'd verify), so you’ll want something like the # MXS39FR ST205/75R15 with 5 on 4-1/2" lug pattern. Do you happen to know your axle rating from the tag on the beam? That’ll confirm exactly which combo...

  • Recommended Lug Nuts for a 16" Eagle Aluminum Wheel w/a 8 on 6-1/2 Lug Nut Pattern
Hey JP, welcome back! For lug nuts that fit the Maxxis ST235/80R16 Radial Tire w/ 16" Eagle Aluminum Wheel item # MXS59FR, I recommend the Stainless Steel DeeMaxx Trailer Wheel Lug Nut item # DE35KR for 9/16" lug studs or item # DE55KR for 1/2 lug studs. The Maxxis Wheel item # MXS59FR can work with both 1/2" or 9/16" lug studs so you'll definitely want to verify what diameter your lug studs are. The DeeMaxx Trailer Wheel Lug Nut item # DE35KR for 9/16" lug studs or item # DE55KR for...

  • Are Load Range G Maxxis Tires A Good Choice For My Wolf Pack Toy Hauler?
Hello Jason, Thanks for writing in. My apologies for the delay, it is end of the busy season and we got quite the spike in questions. I saw that since writing in you went ahead and purchased the Maxxis ST235/80R16 Radial Tire with Eagle Aluminum Wheel # MXS59FR, and I really like the choice you made for your Wolf Pack. The Goodyear Endurance tires you were looking at are great tires, but both of those options are Load Range E and rated for 3,420 lbs per tire at 80 psi. The Maxxis # MXS59FR...

  • Looking For Wheels And Tires For 2022 Big Tex 14GN Gooseneck Trailer With 7K 8 Lug Axles
Yes, Alan, that’s a perfect match. Your 14GN runs dual 7,000-lb axles with 8-on-6-1/2 hubs, and the # MXS59FR fits that setup exactly. Each tire is rated 4,080 lbs at 110 psi, giving you plenty of reserve for hauling heavy loads. The 16" Eagle aluminum wheel helps cut down unsprung weight and won’t corrode like steel when stored outdoors. Do you usually keep the trailer loaded between hauls, or store it empty? That’ll help determine your best tire-pressure range when parked long-term.

  • Heavy Duty 235/80R16 Tires Premounted And Balanced On 16" Wheels 8 on 6-1/2" For Equipment Trailer
Not at all, Ray. In fact, that’s ideal. Four of the # MXS59FR tires give you 16,320 lbs total capacity, so you’ll be comfortably under their limits even when fully loaded. They’re perfect for long highway runs where heat is the enemy. Just make sure your trailer uses this wheel size (16" 8 on 6-1/2") and this tire size (235/80R16). How often do you haul all that weight?

  • Is Maxxis ST235/80R16 Radial Tire w/ 16" Eagle Aluminum Wheel MXS59FR Hub-Centric Or Lug-Centric?
The # MXS59FR wheel of this combo kit is lug-centric, Karen - like nearly all modern trailer wheels. They center using the conical-seat lug nuts, not the hub pilot. The 4.29inch pilot hole just needs to clear your hub lip. Torque the 1/2inch lugs to 90–120 ft-lbs and recheck after 50 miles. Do you already use a torque wrench? It’s the best way to keep aluminum wheels seated evenly.

  • Upgrading Bias Tires To Radial Tires With 8 on 6-1/2" Lug Pattern Wheels For Car Hauler
You can, Chris, and it’s a smart move. The radial construction on # MXS59FR runs cooler than bias, so you’ll notice a smoother ride and longer tread life. Just confirm you’ve got fender/brace clearance for the ~30.7" diameter of these ST235/80R16, Load Range G (4,080 lbs @ 110 psi) tires on the 8 on 6-1/2 Eagle aluminum wheel. What type of car hauler do you have?

  • Replacing 15" Wheels 225 Tires For Single Axle Boat Trailer
Honestly, probably not, Sam. The 8 lug wheels in the # MXS59FR combo kit are designed for heavier 5,200+ lb axles, and its 16 inch x 7 inch wheel might rub if your fenders are tight. You’d be better off with the ST225/75R15 # MXS77FR, which is the same diameter you had. Just make absolutely sure you have 6 on 5-1/2" lug pattern. See the article I linked for this topic. What kind of boat and trailer are you towing?

  • Tires And Wheels That Hold Up For Full-Time RV Living - 235/80R16 With 16" Wheels 8 on 6-1/2"
Absolutely, Mike, the Maxxis ST235/80R16 Radial Tire w/ 16" Eagle Aluminum Wheel - 8 on 6-1/2 # MXS59FR will work well for you. The Maxxis ST235/80R16 Load Range G tires are going to be tough and radial, which are smoother than bias tires which are more for agriculture or offroad use. They’re rated 4,080 lbs each and built with a heat-resistant compound for extended high-speed towing. The aluminum wheel also sheds heat faster than steel. Do you move often or stay parked for months at a time?

  • Looking For Upgraded Black Wheels And Tires For Large Tandex Axle Enclosed Trailer
That could be a great upgrade, Dave. The # MXS59FR uses a larger 16" wheel and an ST235/80R16 Load Range G tire rated for 4,080 lbs at 110 psi, which is perfect for 5200lb+ axles or fifth-wheel applications. If your trailer has 8-on-6-1/2 hubs, this combo will bolt right up and give you a nice setup. Do you happen to know your axle rating or current wheel bolt pattern? That’ll confirm if this is the right size or if we should be looking at a 15" option like # MXS77FR instead. This one...
