This tire-and-wheel assembly comes with complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years. If your RV or trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change the flat for you. You can call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year from anywhere in the United States, Canada, or Puerto Rico.
This tire has a 1-year No Excuses Guarantee. If within the first 12 months the tire is damaged in any way that's not covered by warranty, it will be replaced at no charge. You will also be compensated a flat labor rate for the cost of mounting the replacement tire.
This aluminum wheel comes with steel inserts in the lug nut wells. The inserts are pressed into the aluminum, and they help prevent the holes from wearing down over time. This ensures that the wheel stays secured to your trailer hub and that you won't have to constantly retorque the lug nuts.
This radial ply tire from Westlake is constructed with double steel belts and double polyester cords for increased durability. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.
The standard tread on this tire has solid, continuous ribs, and there are very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. This tire is designed for use on trailers, so it doesn't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.
Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.
Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Westlake ST 235-80-R16 radial trailer tire in a low range E and it's mounted on this 16 inch black Liger aluminum wheel with the eight on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now, this tire and wheel in some ways ideals for RV's, campers, and trailers. I'm gonna start with the wheel. Wheel on this is an aluminum wheel. It is durable, lightweight, and rust-proof.
And this one is the Liger series eight spoke design, as you can see. It is in a black color and if you notice the edges of the spokes, they do do a machine face to it, and even on the lip they have an area where it's machined, so it gives a nice look. They do use an automotive grade clear coat finish on the front to help protect the wheel from any scuffs and scratches. Also what's nice is the lug nuts well, where your lug nut go, they do put steel insert in there to help keep the wheel securely in place on your trailer hub, prevents those holes from wearing down, eliminates the need for constant retightening of your lug nuts. Now, the tire that's mounted on this wheel is a Westlake radial tire.
It is constructed with double steel belts, double nylon plys. They do use a nylon tread firming belt overlay around the tire to help prevent tread separation. And as we mentioned this is a radial ply tire so it is great for highway use. If you look at the tread blocks on it, they do have some cuts in it, those are called siping. They put those on there, they put them on there on purpose because what that does is, it'll break up the water underneath the tire and help channel it away from underneath it to improve traction during wet, snowy or icy conditions.
This is an ST tire which means special trailer. Has sturdy side walls so it can handle heavy load. And it is created specifically for trailers, it's not intended for use on other vehicles. They do offer complimentary road side assistance for two years. Means they give you a flat tire service, which is available 24/7 anywhere in the US, Canada, or Puerto Rico.
Also, this assembly does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications. Basically, the tire meets the Federal motor vehicle safety standard specs, and wheel will meet the SAEJ-1204 standards. If you notice this wheel does not come with a center cap. If you do want a center cap, we do sell those separate on our website. For this wheel, you would need to get a center cap that has a diameter of 4.8 inches. That's the diameter of the pilot hole here 'cause your center cap will go through this pilot hole to be installed. A few specs. The diameter on the wheel, 16 inches. Width on just wheel, six inches wide. This wheel does have a bolt pattern of eight on 6 1/2 inches. And if you wanna measure that on a wheel, that's an even number of lugs, in this case, eight, it's pretty easy because they're directly across from each other and when you go to measure your bolt pattern, just pick any hole, let's say this one, measure from the center of this bolt hole to the center of that one. It'll give you your bolt pattern on this one, it'll measure 6 1/2 inches, so it's an eight lug 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. This wheel does use a lug wheel size of either 1/2 inch by 20 or 9/16 by 18. Weight capacity of just the wheel by itself is 4,080 pounds. The tire size, which'll be stamped on the side wall, ST for special trailer, 235-80-R16, the R means its radial. This section of width on this tire is 9.3 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when its inflated, 30.8 inches. As we mentioned, this is a low grade E tire, which is a 10 ply rated tire. Has a maximum load of 3,520 pounds at 80 PSI. And the last thing I just wanna mention, most all the new trailer tires are coming through with a speed rating and it's stamped on the side wall with a letter designation. So, if you look right after the tire size we went over, there's two numbers for the load index, and then you'll see the letter L stamped in there. That L will mean this is a 75 mph speed rating. But that's gonna do it for the review on this Westlake ST 235-80-R16 radial trailer tire in a low range E on this 16 inch black Liger aluminum wheel.
