Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this Roadmaster Comfort Ride Add-on Kit for triple-axle trailers. This add-on shock kit is going to adapt your Roadmaster Comfort Ride system for use with a triple-axle trailer with leaf spring suspensions. And this is going to fit your three inch diameter, 5,200 pound to 7,000 pound axles. And on your screen, I am including the model number of that Comfort Ride system that this kit is going to work with. And as you can see, these shocks are banded at the install height, so this is how you are going to receive them.
And this is a bolt-on installation, which includes everything that you're going to need to install this. It includes the tie plates with extension pieces that will replace your existing U-bolt plates. The upper brackets mount on your trailer frame with the included hardware, and the shocks attach to the tie plate extensions and to the upper brackets to help dampen movement of your axle. The extended length of these shocks when they're fully extended is gonna be 17 1/2 inches from eye to eye. And then when they're fully compressed, it's going to be 11 1/2 inches.
Instructions are included to guide you through the installation process. And this does have a limited lifetime warranty from Roadmaster. (metal clanking) Well, that's gonna wrap up our brief look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy.
Thank you for joining me.
My axles are attached above the leaf springs. This complicated the installation a bit but was not prohibitive. I have tandem axles and purchased two(2) of these kits for the trailer. Immediately, we noticed that the trailer was more stable when parked without the outriggers deployed. I wish I could get detailed drawing of the shock brackets. Knowing the designed angle where the shock absorbers mount would have been very helpful with the installation.
I am leaving for my first road trip and look forward to the increased stability during towing and not having the trailer contents thrown about during transport.
Installed two of theses on a Tracer 23RBS, 28Ft. Had everything needed for complete install, decent quality. Instructions had just enough info for proper install. Gas shocks a plus, anticipating a more stable ride.
Prior to installing this kit, the tires would contact the wood floor of the 5th wheel (Cougar 25RES) and were starting to wear a groove. Now that the kit has been installed the rubbing has stopped. I've also noticed the drawers, that had previously self-opened, are now staying shut. Installation was fairly straight forward. I drilled and tapped the holes, for the plates, as the self-tapping screws refused to go in straight. I also put a nut on the outside screws, the others are blocked by the belly pan.
Installation Review (will update after road test) Great tutorial video. Highly recommend a quality bolt/nut loosening solution. Makes a big difference. Rented an angle drill for the top bracket 5/16th" holes due to low clearance (I ended up buying one it was so useful). Job went smoothly. I wouldn't cut your underbelly until after the install. I may not cut mine at all. Top of shock pushes against it but that shouldn't cause a problem. I added a number of photos, to include the solvent and jack. Top notch company with high quality merchandise.
What I like better than the products are the people and support received
from EVERYONE I have talked to at etrailer. If Forest River was half this good, I might buy another one, but most of the questions or problems I have come across with our fifth wheel have been solved by someone here after talking to a generic moron at the manufacturer.
eTrailer ROCKS!!!
This has got to be one of the best purchases that I have ever made. Angela was awesome to deal with when ordering, the package was delivered in great shape all items accounted for, clear precise instructions and the final result that I was expecting. All in all a great place to do business

Very well. We just drove the Alcan and the stretch of road from the Alaska border to Destruction Bay can best be described as an RV demolition course, due to melting permafrost. The suspension performed well, with no issues. Many an RV have substantial damage on this section, especially trailers, as most have under-engineered suspensions. The shocks, most likely, have saved me some grief.
