Today we're taking a look at a Peterson amber clearance or side marker light. Now this is a rectangular trailer light that functions as both a clearance and side marker light when properly mounted. Has a nice sealed design so that keeps out dirt and moisture. It mounts on the surface of your trailer with a bracket, your bracket is sold separately and available at etrailer.com. And then it's designed to accept a female marker light plug from Peterson, which is also sold separately and available at etrailer.com.Now this is not an LED light. It's a two-bulb unit, so it's an incandescent light.
Each bulb has a 15,000 hour life rating, which is pretty good for an incandescent bulb. It's Department of Transportation compliant, and it's PC rated.Now we're gonna take a look at the dimensions real quick, and then we'll hook it up to power so you can see what it looks like with power running to it. Edge to edge, not including the mounting tabs, so those mounting tabs are included, pre-installed, they're just part of that housing for attaching this to a bracket. It's about 3-and-three-quarter inches. Edge to edge going this direction is about an inch-and-a-quarter.
And then the overall depth of just the amber lens portion, that's about 13/16ths of an inch deep.We're gonna go to hook this up to power. And then we can turn off our overhead lights and you can see it in low-light setting.So you can see here that the light sends out a really nice, clear, consistent signal. Again it's a two-bulb design, so we have a bulb right here and a bulb right here. Incandescent bulbs. Each one with that 15,000 hour life rating, which again is really nice.
