Optronics MCL65 Series Thinline LED Marker Clearance Light Dimensions

Sonically Sealed, Waterproof Trailer Light

The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.


P2-Rated Lights

A P2-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.

    It sounds like you have fender mounted lights on something like A67CVB, which is gray (white isn't available). A white base is not available for light # MCL65AB. Since you are not sure if this is the correct replacement light check the lights you have now for a part number (not on the lens, on the actual housing of the light). If they are M161A then Optronics light # MCL65AB is a correct replacement.

    You can ground the brakes right by the frame as long as the frame is a good electrical ground. The closer the ground is to the brake assembly the better. I do not know what the maximum amperage is for the running light circuit on your truck. But it would take quite a bit to over load the circuit. There are a lot of LED lights now available for trailers that draw very few amps. For example, one of the Optronics LED lights we carry draws .048 amps where as an incandescent may draw 4 or 5...

    The lights that you have referenced, # STL70RB, do have the same measurements as the Kaper lights you have with the exception that they do not stick out as far from the trailer. As for the clearance lights I do not have one that is an exact match for the dimensions you have given. A close match is # MCL65AB. It measures 3-15/16 inches long and 1-1/4 inches wide. To mount it you would need a bracket like # A65PB or # A67CB.

    There are a few options for brackets for trailer light # MCL65AB. None are beige or tan but we do have black, # A65PB. Chrome, # A67CB. You will need to remove the old brackets and use steel hardware to install these new brackets. The light will ground through the mounting hardware so they have to be screwed into steel.
