Features to know about

Tough Roads and Rough Rides: Steel Armored Durability

When your trailer takes a beating on the road, this light is built to handle it. The bright-plated steel housing shields the incandescent bulb from debris and damage, so it stays protected mile after mile. The Vibar socket inside absorbs road shock and vibration, helping the 168 bulb last longer instead of rattling loose or burning out early. It’s a rugged design made to keep shining even when conditions aren’t easy.

Reliable Visibility in All Directions: PC-Rated Coverage

Visibility is key for safety, and this light’s PC rating makes sure you’re seen from more than one angle. It produces a 90-degree beam to both sides of its centerline for a full 180 degrees of coverage. When mounted properly, that means it functions as both a clearance light and a side marker light—making your trailer visible from the front, side, or rear at night or in low-light conditions.

Simple, Secure Mounting: Surface-Mounted Flat-Back Design

No need to take anything apart to install this one. The flat-back design mounts directly to the surface using standard hardware (not included). The mounting holes are spaced 3-3/8" center-to-center, so setup is straightforward. It can even be spot-welded to side rails or bed rails for a more permanent hold. Once in place, the light sits flush for a clean, low-profile look.

Clean Wiring Made Easy: Single-Wire Grounding System

The single-wire design keeps wiring simple—power runs through one wire while the ground connects through the mounting hardware. It’s made for 12V DC systems and only draws 0.35 amps at 12V, keeping power use low without sacrificing brightness. No extra connectors or complex wiring needed, just hook it up and you’re set.

Clear Performance Specs That Fit Right In

At 4-1/2" long, 2-3/16" tall, and 1-1/4" thick, this rectangular red lens light fits neatly in tight spaces while standing out clearly when illuminated. DOT compliant and ready for use as a clearance or side marker light, it’s a dependable option when you need a tough incandescent setup that works—and keeps on working.

Video Transcript for Checking Out the Peterson Armored Clearance and Side Marker Trailer Light

Today we'll be taking a look at a Peterson Armored Clearance and Side Marker Trailer Light. Now, this is going to help your trailer to stay visible and DOT complaint by giving you that clearance and side marker light for your trailer. It's housed in the durable steel bracket. So, it's going to keep our light protected and also sort of finish off the look and make it look sort of more beefy than your typical lights. It has an incandescent bulb in there. And to replace that, you'll just need to back out these two screws on either side to get access to that bulb. This works with 12-volt DC systems.

And it does just have one wire to connect to the back. Our ground is made by the rest of the housing. So, as long as this steel plate makes contact with your trailer it'll ground out the light.Inside you can see we'll have a v-bar socket. That's sort of a rubbery type socket, helps to absorb the road shock and help prevent that bulb from shaking around and failing prematurely. So, it's going to extend the life of that bulb, so you don't have to worry about changing it out anytime soon.

That bulb type is one-six-eight or 168. It's a pretty common bulb that you can find just about anywhere. To replace our red lens, just pop that back over. So, if anything ever happens to that lens, it's also pretty easy to replace. Put our brackets, and our screws back down. Just want to make sure that that bracket's going over the lip of the lens so that it holds it in place securely.

Then we'll do the same thing for that other side. And once I get this back in place, we'll go over some measurements. This light is PC rated, which basically means that you can see it from both head on and from the side. So, that's how it can work as a clearance and a side marker light at once. Just as long as it's mounted properly. When it comes to the length, go to the back here. It's going to be about four and a half inches long by about two and a quarter inches wide, maybe a little bit more than two and a quarter.

It's about one and a quarter inch deep. And our two mounting holes will be these two. They're diagonal from each other, but the distance side to side is about three and three-eighths inches. And the diameter on those holes is about three-sixteenths.We'll have our one wire to connect at the back, which will be our power wire. So, I'm going to connect that to my power source here, so we can take a look at how bright this is. And then I'll ground out to that bright plate steel housing. Light comes on. Turn down the lights in the studio, you get a better idea how bright that is. So, it's not terribly bright, but it'll definitely keep you DOT compliant. You can still see that light is on even from the side. So, it stays visible and gives us that PC rating.Turn my power off. The power draw at 12-volts for this light is 0.35 amps. Again, it is DOT compliant, made in the USA. And this is going to work as an exact replacement for the Truck Lite number 26315R. The Optronics number MC82RB. And Grote number 45172.And that's going to do it for our look at the Peterson Armored Clearance and Side Marker Trailer Light.

a marker light for a trolley .

by:

These are just what I wanted for my customers trailer. He is very pleased with the products and can't wait for me to get it all together so he can start using the trailer. What was on there before was total junk. Half worked and half didn't.
Great company!

by:

This was an exact replacement for what was on the truck it was for. The pictures on the website were great in helping me identify the right product.

by:

Heavy duty with a robust lens , perfect for my build !

by:

They work, and they are just like the ones these replaced so they match up to the mounting location. But they are expensive for a little metal and plastic.

by:

Easy to install, needed sheet metal screws and an electrical coupler. And should have Phillips and drill handy for sheet metal screw mounting. Theses things are tough.

by:

Kelly was Great.

by:

I have a horse trailer whose rear doors would occassionally swing open, flex past their stops and break the clearance lights. No more with these armored lights! So durable they should be on military tanks!

by:

Easy ordering online. Very quick to get it shipped, then your in fate of UPS, USPS or FedX to how quick you get it. I was happy with my time frame.
I had a hard time finding a metal framed side marker light that came close to matching the other one I have on other side of truck. But this is very close & you can't see them both at the same time anyway.
I haven't got around to installing it yet, but very happy with the quality of the light so far!

by:

this was great it match and installed in place , it work that was good, the shipping work out also very timely, etrailer works for me it save me time and the running around trying too fine these parts thanks etrailer,,,,,

by:

This is a classic American product: tough, effective, and reasonably priced. They are to be replacements on a flatbed I am installing on another truck. So that they fit is definitely a bonus.
Yet I'm looking also to increase efficiency with LED bulb equivalents. This is not easy to do because most of these fixtures have bulbs so well shock mounted and with bulbs that last so long replacements are not a priority. eTrailer did a fine job of putting me in touch with people at Peterson who can provide the necessary specifications.
Shipping was fast. Packaging was fine. No complaints.

by:

They are a direct replacement for the old one.

by:

Exactly as described. Exactly what I needed to replace the ones on my dump truck.

by:

Great service and great product fast de livery

by:

Steel housing is what I need for rough conditions. Works great for that.

  • Replacement Peterson Clearance Light For Pleasant Valley Trailer
Hi Chari! The biggest difference between the old Peterson PM 122 and the PM 124 clearance lights is the PM 122 is a bit larger and has two wires (ground and power). While the PM 124 ground through the mounting hardware and has a power wire. I am not sure exactly what you mean by splice a new wire. If you give me a little more detail about what you are trying to do there I can help. The PM 122 and PM 124 are no longer made, we do carry the replacement amber lens but not red. I recommend...
