PC-Rated Lights
A PC-rated light produces a 90-dgree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 180 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be clearly seen when you are standing directly in front of the light as well as when you are standing on either side of the light. When properly installed, this type of light can function as both a front clearance light and a side marker light or as a rear clearance light and side maker light.
Surface-Mount Light
Surface-mount trailer lights install using a flange or bracket with mounting holes. These lights lay flat against the trailer surface and only require a small, often pre-existing hole, for wiring. Mounting hardware is used to secure the light to the trailer.

Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and where do we taking a look at the Piranha LED Clearance Marker Light in amber. This is going to help to make it more visible for other drivers to see your trailer as it's going down the road, and also to be in compliance with all DOT laws. So, this is a nice LED light. The advantage with LED is that you never have to change out the bulb. They're going to be very long lasting, much longer lasting than your typical incandescent bulb. And they also take less power draw to give you the same or more light output.
So, just a superior light overall.Pretty easy to get installed. It's going to have this little plug at the back, so it's going to require a wiring plug that should look like this guy. This is going to be an amp or A-M-P style plug. You can find these right here at etrailer.com. It's a related part on the product page here at the etrailer, so check it out.
Because it's going to make a nice watertight connection with your lights. You just basically plug it into place back here. There's a little tab that's going to go up and over. Nice thick grommet to go in place to prevent any water, dirt, grime from getting in there and causing issues. It's a pretty snug fit. So, be sure as you're pushing this in there, you don't want to push on the wires because you don't want to bend them.
If they get a little bent it's not a big deal, but you just don't want to cause any damage. So, it should snap over in place. And now we can connect our two wires to power for that red wire and ground for the white wire. I've got my little setup back here, so I'm going to connect those up to my power source. You can see that comes on. We'll have a nice bright light.
Turn out the lights in the studio so you can get a better idea of what that looks like even in the dark. So, not really meant to illuminate the night around you, but just to make sure that you're compliant with all local laws and DOT regulations. Now this is a PC rated light, so that means that it produces a 180 degree light pattern. You can see that here on the table, the light goes in a complete 180 degree pattern, so it goes in a semicircle all the way around. So, you can see this both when you're looking directly at it and from either side. So, makes it pretty nice. You can use it as a clearance and a side marker light at the same time as long as you have it mounted properly. As far as the size, I'm going to turn my light back on so you actually see what's going on. This is three-and-half inches wide overall with that little bracket that it's mounted into. The actual cutout diameter is two-and-three quarter-inches, so it'll fit into a two-and-three quarter inch hole. So if that's what you already have on your trailer, it's going to work out well for you. And comes with this bezel already installed, and I'm pretty sure it's glued in place so it's not going anywhere. It's going to be a really secure fit. We'll have three mounting holes to get this attached to our trailer. The spacing between those center to center is two-and-three-quarter inches, and then the depth going from the top of our connection point to the top of the light, or from here to here, just over one-and-a-half inches, just barely over. The power draw at 12 volts is going to be 0.0 amps, and we'll be able to use this in operating range between nine volts and 16 volts.Has those five diodes, that'll will be one, two, three, four, and then the fifth is in the center. Has a durable plastic face with an acrylic lens, should last a long time. Compatible with 12 volt DC systems. And is made in the USA, and has a limited lifetime warranty. That's pretty much all there is to it for this light. I hope this video has been helpful in deciding if this is going to be the right light for you. If not, we do have a lot of options available here at etrailer.com including one that's exactly like this, but in red. So, check that out right here, and thanks for watching.
