Replacement Peterson Clearance Light For Pleasant Valley Trailer

Updated 09/29/2025 | Published 05/15/2025

Question:

HI regarding trailer lighting, what is the difference between a side marker light pm 122 and a 124? I have a 2006 Pleasant Valley Trailer Yoder Toter Silver Shadow with pm 124 running lights and need to replace one. A prong within the light socket broke off. I see pm 122 for sale also. Are they the same or perhaps a different size? And can I splice the new wire to the old on the outside of the trailer? Thanks

Hi Chari!

The biggest difference between the old Peterson PM 122 and the PM 124 clearance lights is the PM 122 is a bit larger and has two wires (ground and power). While the PM 124 ground through the mounting hardware and has a power wire. I am not sure exactly what you mean by splice a new wire. If you give me a little more detail about what you are trying to do there I can help.

The PM 122 and PM 124 are no longer made, we do carry the replacement amber lens but not red. I recommend to just switch out the whole light with part # 424200. This Peterson light is very similar to the old light that you have. Unfortunately, the mounting holes are not spaced the same so you may need to drill a few new holes. This is the best option I could find instead of finding a "new" PM-124 light on ebay that was priced pretty high.

Let me know what you decide! I am happy to help :)

Hi Chari, Did you decide to switch out the whole light with the Peterson light I suggested? I'm curious to know how it worked out for you, as it might help others facing a similar situation with their trailer lights.

HI HeatherAm, Thanks for the question... I did not switch out to a new light, as I wanted all the light frames to look the same. So I bought an old unused light (actually ended up buying 2 as one was an older model that did not work for my set-up but the seller did not want it back) and it fit perfectly and looks just like the other 3. I greatly appreciate your help with understanding the model types as this allowed me to be a more knowledgable consumer. Also I was fortunate that the location of the fixture that broke was on the same wall as the battery compartment so I was able to access the wires from the inside of the trailer - thus no splicing wires or tearing open the paneling. Have a great day. I continue to think highly of e-trailer - you are my first choice for my trailer needs!
