Light will work as an exact replacement for:
Optronics # MC71RS
Grote # 47052
A P2-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.

Today we're gonna take a look at the Petersen clearance or side marker trailer light with the red lens and the chrome plated base. Now this is an incandescent trailer light that will function as a clearance or side marker light when properly mounted. The premium bulb provides up to 15,000 hours of light, and it's all in this durable chrome plated ABS housing. Has the red lens that's over the incandescent bulb, and this light is compatible with 12 volt DC systems. It is a flush mount design to the trailer, with the included stainless steel screws, and it requires about a one and a quarter inch diameter socket hole for a flush mount installation. It is a twist in socket.
You can see twisting it, you can remove it, and here's your bulb, and then to put it back in, you just turn it and twist it into place. It does contain two black wires, a lead and a ground wire, and it doesn't matter which is which. It's not polarity sensitive, so you can pick either connection to either wire.It is a DOT Department of Transportation compliant light, P2 rated. It is made in the USA. A few dimensions on this.
Overall length on the light including the base is right at three and three quarter inches. Height on it is two and a quarter inches tall, and the total depth on it from the very end of the socket here to the face is going to be right at two and one sixteenth inches. Distance between the mounting holes where the screws are is going to be two and eleven sixteenths inches, and the bulb type that it uses is either a 194 or a 193 bulb. Power draw for this light at 12 volts is 0.25 amps, and last thing I want to do is we're going to hook this up to some 12 volt power just to show you how bright it is. And as I mentioned, they're both black wires, so it doesn't matter which wire is power and which one's the ground.
We got it all hooked up.Go ahead and turn the power on, and you can see the light comes on. I'll go ahead and turn off the overhead lights, and there's your clearance or side marker tail trailer light. Go ahead and turn back on the overhead light. Disconnect our wires. But that should do it for the review on the Peterson clearance or side marker trailer light with the red lens and the chrome plated base..
