Getting the right trailer height can make all the difference in stability and braking. The built-in 4" drop on this actuator helps line up your trailer perfectly with your tow vehicle so it rides level. That means better braking response and less strain on the hitch. It’s designed to bolt right onto a standard 3" wide tongue using five 1/2" x 4-1/2" Grade-5 bolts for a secure fit.
This surge actuator uses a heavy-duty aluminum master cylinder that’s both rustproof and efficient. It’s built for high-pressure disc brake applications and delivers up to 50 percent greater displacement than standard cylinders, giving you strong, responsive braking. The acetyl copolymer lining keeps everything moving smoothly as the actuator telescopes in and out, so braking feels steady instead of jerky.
Hooking up your trailer doesn’t get easier than this. With the eZ-Latch coupler, you just drop it over your 2-5/16" hitch ball and it locks automatically—no need to hold open the latch or secure it afterward. It’s a clean, one-handed connection that’s quick and solid every time you hitch up.

Backing up used to mean fighting your trailer brakes, but not with this design. The built-in electric lockout solenoid automatically activates when you shift into reverse, preventing the brakes from engaging. It wires into your 5-pole flat, 6-way round, or 7-pole connector so you can move freely in reverse without any extra switches or manual steps.
Between road grime, rain, and salt water, corrosion can ruin an actuator fast—but not this one. The steel body has a durable zinc coating with a 200-hour salt spray rating, and even the master cylinder is rustproof aluminum. The sturdy reinforced casing adds extra durability for long-term use on heavy trailers rated up to 8,000 lbs GTW and 800 lbs tongue weight.

The hitch was replacing a 18 year old hitch that had rusted out. It fit the existing holes without having to drill them out. I'm restoring a 19 year old Grady White 232 Golfstream. I'm looking forward to seeing how well the breaking system works.
Installed this on my boat trailer weighing in around 17,000 lbs total. ( boat and trailer) I have a long driveway with a slight incline and the electric lockout is terrible. While reversing the brakes would always engage and I would have to loosen the brake line with my flair wrench to complete my parking. I emailed e-trailer and they told me about the warranty process. It requires me to send in the faulty solenoid for them to inspect, and then deem if its covered or not. So I bit the bullet and just purchased another solenoid outright. Installed the solenoid and it worked fine with just the trailer, No boat on it. Once I loaded my boat onto the trailer, the brakes would lock as it did before. The solenoid was installed properly, to confirm this, I blocked both my truck and trailer tires. Put the truck in reverse and used a test light to verify 12v at the reverse light pin on my trailer light connection box.
Good price and in time delivery.
Found better pricing here, than any other place.
Works great and even lined up with existing holes on my trailer.
Great quality ,service, easy installation and fast shipping.
Great product. Great service.
Thanks etrailer!!
- Unit as advertised, New and in good condition. Image of Actuator pictured on the web site had a "Stamped" coupler head but the one I received was the newer cast coupler head. This confused me for a bit but I found out from Demco that the cast coupler is the new style.
- Original identified delivery was to be Saturday, 6 SEP which was missed. Actual delivery was Tuesday, 9 Sep.
Very competitive price. Will definitely do business with etrailer.com again.
Have had the actuator for about a year now, has been perfect, zero issues.I do recommend pulling the floating pins a grease with some marine grease to help with removal if you ever need to service the actuator
Quality built unit that dropped for a perfect fit. Could not have been easier!
Haven't installed yet, but superfast shipping! Love the features of the dropping on the ball with the hitch closed, and the addition of the solenoid lockout for reverse. This will replace the Titan 10 on my trailer now. Very happy with the quality of the unit. Joy was very helpful in the ordering process. Thanks
Easy to install. Easy to bleed brakes manually and works perfectly
After finishing my 4th and final boat trailer I purchased the hydraulic break actuator, Demco,12,500 lb. for 200.00+ cheaper than I could find anywhere, the etrailer staff helped with advise and follow-up; exceptional service.
51 years of commercial diving was all I work to restore now @ 80, but the spirit of the sport divers we work with, like this company, keeps me 'inspired', and I hope this inspires you too.
Though I received the item very quickly I have yet to install it. I doubt there will be any issues at this point. I would like to however praise this company for it’s great prices and quick shipping. I live in NE Ohio and I actually received the actuator in < 48 hrs from the time it was ordered. it arrived here at my home before or around Noon today 2 days after I first discussed doing business here. I plan to make other purchases from them soon. Great Service!!!
Product came and did not match picture of what was sold. It has a plastic lock. The new easy system. I didn’t want that plastic. I am very disappointed.
Live in Florida and plastic degrade quickly. I can imagine being on a trip and that plastic breaking. A metal latches for superior in my opinion.
Typically, I’m out of time for my trip and must use this crap.
Now I need to buy and carry a spare repair kit. What a pain.
