Question:
I’m looking for a replacement for my TDE LP8000 serial 114986 trailer break actuator

Hi Jim, the honest answer is that there isn’t a direct replacement or rebuild kit still available for the TDE LP8000, so the right path forward is to replace the entire actuator, which typically means cutting the old one off and installing a new unit.
For a true replacement, you’ll want to match your brake type, and for drum brakes a really solid modern equivalent is the Dexter Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator part # T4079200, and if your trailer has disc brakes then the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator part # DM8750311 is the better choice. Both of these are built for 8,000 lb trailers with a 3" trailer tongue like your LP8000 and are designed to give you that same strong, reliable braking feel once installed.
The biggest thing to double check before ordering is fitment details like your ball size and mounting style, since these use a 2-5/16 inch coupler and are bolt-on designs, so if your current actuator is welded on you will need to cut it off and bolt the new one on.
What do you usually haul, and where are you using this trailer most?
