If you’re ready to move past weak or inconsistent drum brakes, this Hydrastar kit brings real braking power. The electric-over-hydraulic actuator works with your existing brake controller to deliver smooth, even braking with a fast response time. Four 12" slip-on rotors and stainless steel calipers give consistent stopping even at highway speeds and noticeably shorter stopping distances than drums. Rated for 6,000-lb axles with a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern, it’s built for serious towing performance.
When you eventually need to service your brakes, the over-the-hub design makes it easy. These cast iron rotors slip right over standard idler hubs and are held in place by your existing wheel bolts—no need to replace the entire hub-and-rotor assembly if one part gets damaged. You can repair or replace just what’s needed and get back on the road.
Constant exposure to water and road grime can ruin unprotected brake parts fast. The dacromet-coated rotors resist corrosion, while stainless steel calipers are fully rustproof for long-term durability. Together they hold up to tough environments and keep braking performance consistent season after season.
Long grades and heavy loads can generate serious heat. These rotors are vented to dissipate heat efficiently, dramatically reducing the risk of fade or heat-related damage. Cast iron construction meets SAE specs for strength and thermal performance, maintaining reliable friction when it matters most.
This package includes all the essentials—electric-over-hydraulic actuator, stainless calipers, dacromet rotors, bearings, grease seals, mounting hardware, and a full tandem-axle brake line kit with fittings, unions, T-fitting, clamps, and self-tapping screws. Every line and connection is ready to route cleanly along the trailer frame for a solid DIY upgrade that feels factory-tight once finished.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today I'm gonna take a look at this Hydrastar slip-on rotor disc brake kit with the electric over hydraulic brake actuator. This is for tandem 6,000 pound trailer axles with the six on five and a half inch bolt pattern. Now this kit is an all-inclusive kit. This will have everything you need to switch your trailer over to disc brakes for improved performance and greater stopping power. The over the hub rotor's very easy to install.
All you do is slide these over your standard idler hubs and they're held in place by your existing wheel lug nuts. So there's no need to replace your entire hub and rotor assembly if only the hub or the rotor becomes damaged. This kit will include everything shown here on the table. It's four disc brake end kits for two axles. We mentioned the slip-on Dacromet coated cast iron rotors.
They also include the inner and outer bearings, the grease seals. Now the brake calipers that are included are stainless steel. They do include brake pads in the installation bolts. And if you notice, we have 'em bolted to the Dacromet coated caliper mounting brackets, which you can see are designed to fit five volt brake flanges. Now the Dacromet coating on the rotors and the caliper mounting brackets is corrosion resistant.
The stainless steel calipers we mentioned are rust proof. Now I wanted to zoom in on this electric over hydraulic actuator. It's a Hydrastar brand. This is the hard wire into your tow vehicle and it signals your in-cap brake controller and brakes are applied, triggering the pump in the motor on the actuator. This will create smooth even braking with a fast response time and it is designed to work with most in-cap brake controllers.
Now the brake line kit, you can see I have laid out here. The brake line kit will include all the solid brake lines over here, the flexible brake lines, all the fittings you need for installation on a tandem axle trailer. Now we do list on the product page of this part number all of the part numbers that are included with this kit. Now more and more people are switching their trailers over to disc brakes and with good reason. 'Cause unlike drum brakes these disc brakes will deliver consistent braking even at highway speeds and disc brakes do also offer a substantially shorter stopping distance. The disc brake calipers we mentioned right here, they only have one moving part, so that's fewer parts to maintain, fewer parts to get damage and of course fewer parts to have to repair or replace. Specs again. This application is for tandem axle trailers with 6,000 pound axles. Bolt pattern, again, six on five and a half inches, and the diameter on the rotors is 12 inches. But that should do it for a look at the Hydrastar slip on rotor disc brake kit with the electric over hydraulic brake actuator for tandem 6,000 pound trailer axels.
