Thanks

by:

Product was as described and received in a timely manner.

by:

Just finished installing a set of 6 on a trailer. These Dexter assemblies are the only way to go. The quality is excellent and delivery was quick.

by:

The pricing was great and the parts arrived very quickly. I will definitely order from etrailer.com again!

by:

Fast Shipping, Great Price! The brake assembles were packed on top of each other, when arrived, they were scratched and nicked from shipping, need to put some packing in between the items.
Plan on to buy two more sets, want to make sure these fit alright.

by:

I like these brakes . Quality and made in the USA

by:

Only three of the four parts arrived yesterday and I had planned on completing the work when the order arrived so the trailer was ready for this weekend's barrel race. I called and waited on line to find out that the last part will come a day later, Hopefully the drum comes in time to complete the work. Our UPS deliveries usually comes later in the day unfortunately.

My 40' 5th wheel came with Dexter axles & manual adjust brakes. They were a constant pain to get adjusted evenly and so they didn't overheat. These self-adjusting brakes are an easy upgrade. No more uneven brakes, even when applied hard. If I get another trailer with manual adjust brakes I will upgrade to these first thing. The best upgrade I've done on my 5th wheel in the past 5 years.

by:

OEM Dexter parts well worth the cost. Brakes are very important in the scenarios I use my trailer. You definitely feel 6 brand new brake setups behind you! etrailer kept me well informed through the process on order status. Shipping was quick. Will be shipping etrailer for any of my trailer stuff going forward.

by:

Packing was awesome, the last time I ordered brake assemblies from etrailer the packing was horrible. Brake pads had chunks missing from smashing into each other.

by:

It has performed flawlessly since insta ll.

by:

Perfect replacement right out of the bo x!

by:

worked and fit great

by:

Troy, the service rep that I dealt with on my most recent order from etrailer.com, did a fantastic job helping me identify the exact parts I needed to replace the wheel bearings and brake assemblies on my 40 foot Big Horn 5th Wheel. I believe the prices were very reasonable and the service was faster than I expected. Thanks Troy, and I'll definitely recommend etrailer.com as a super place to get your trailer repair parts and accessories.

All the products are working well!

by:

working great. thinking about upgrading to disc breaks next year

by:

Definitely could have been packaged so the brake assemblies were not contacting each other during shipment. They were not damaged, but some packing material between the assemblies is preferred. These are direct replacements/upgrades for my 2013 Fuzion 2 axle 5th Wheel 12x2 electric brakes. Dexter makes quality products and these are of their usual top quality! Highly recommend these as a replacement/upgrade because stopping is a wonderful thing!

I ordered a set of brake assemblies for a dual axle 14K # trailer on Thursday with expected delivery on late Monday or Tuesday & they were delivered 2 pm Saturday. I was amazed at the prompt service with parts well packed in 2 boxes. Now-a-days when money is tight we order online & take a chance on anything to save a dollar....the biggest surprise....Made in USA...Thank you so much for supporting American Industry.... 2nd time ordering from etrailer & same great service.

  • Trailer Hub & Spindle For 7,000 lb Axle With 12 Inch Electric Brakes
First, thanks for all that detailed information, it was very helpful. And we can get you parts for your trailer, though the issue is that there isn't an available hub for your spindle due to what you mentioned - the uncommon 501349 bearing, which is for older agricultural spindles. There also isn't a 7,000 lb-rated hub with a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern to go with your 7k-rated Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Assembly # 23-464 and # 23-465. So what that means is you'll have to...

  • What Hub/Drums Are Recommended for Timbren 3,500 lb Axle Less System
The Timbren 3.5k Axle Less System part # ASR35HDS02 that you referenced does require higher capacity hubs than what you currently have. For a hub/drum that is the same as your current hubs you would want the part # 8-201-9UC3-EZ. This hub comes with the correct fitting bearings for the Timbren axle spindle. For brake assemblies you would then want the part # 23-465 for the right hand side and part # 23-464 for the left hand side.

Based on the dimensions you listed the etrailer.com brake assembly kit part # AKEBRK-7-SA would be your best option. It is 12 inch by 2 inch and has the 5 bolt mounting pattern. I attached a picture that shows the dimensions of the bolt pattern for you to check out as well.

  • Replacement Brakes for Dexter 7k Axle
Hey James! Thank you for providing that information. The correct left hand brake assembly is the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Assembly - 12" - Left Hand - 7,000 lbs # 23-464. However, we do recommend replacing them in pairs for equal wear between the brakes. If you decide to replace both you need the # 23-464-465. What kind of trailer do you have?

Hi Robert! Single assemblies can be somewhat difficult to find on our website, but I have Dexter and etrailer options listed below. All are 12" x 2" left side electric brake assemblies, but the first set are manual adjusting and the second set are self adjusting. You didn't mention which style you were looking for, so I figured I would include both. If you would like to upgrade to the Nev-R-Adjust brake assemblies then you would need part # 23-464 for the left hand and part # 23-465 for the right hand. The brake assemblies you have are Dexter 12 inch assemblies with a 7k capacity. That means the current part numbers you would want are # 23-464 for the left hand side and part # 23-465 for the right hand side. The part # 23-464-465 that you referenced actually is both of these assemblies kitted together.

You will have no problem using a Dexter brake assembly on a Lippert 7K axle. We have installed several Dexter brake assemblies on Lippert axles at our shop. Lippert and Dexter use the same standard mounting pattern and brake sizes. If you want standard brake assemblies, you could go with the Right Hand brake # 23-181 and the Left Hand brake # 23-180. Believe me I know how much of a pain a blown seal can be. Cleaning the shoes can be very tricky, and in some cases it can be impossible to get the shoes completely clean. • Difference Between the Two Types of 12x2 7000 lb. Brake Assemblies
The difference between the two brake assemblies comes down to one being self adjusting and one that is manually adjusted. I recommend the self adjusting because you will never have to crawl under the trailer to adjust the brakes. This can be a headache and we tend to not do it as often as we should which leads to poor performing brakes. With the self adjusting it automatically tightens as the shoes wear down keeping your trailer's braking performance optimized and working as safely as...

I can help you try and figure out why your Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Assembly like parts # 23-465 and # 23-464 are locking up and there are a multitude of reasons. When this happens it is often an electrical issue or the brake magnets so check out your 7-way to ensure there is no corrosion which will be white or green which may be hampering the functionality of your brakes; if so, clean as necessary and that may resolve the issue. • Electric Trailer Brake Assembly Recommendation for 6K or 7K Axles with 8 Lug Bolt Pattern
The Dexter 6K and 7K axles are very similar to each other, so it can be difficult to determine their capacity just by looks. Dexter axles typically have a specs plate near the center of the axle, but there is a chance that it could have come off. There should be a plate that lists the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR). That should...
