Question:
2021, Arctic Fox, 29-5t, 5th wheel. Repacking the bearings, found a blown dust gasket, resulting in grease everywhere. On-line advice ranges from soak and clean the shoes to replace the shoes. Is there a replacement shoe part available or do I need to go with a full assembly?

Expert Reply:
Believe me I know how much of a pain a blown seal can be. Cleaning the shoes can be very tricky, and in some cases it can be impossible to get the shoes completely clean. We do recommend at the very least replacing the shoes, or just replacing the whole brake assembly. What you have there are the Dexter Dexter Nev-R-Adjust 12" Brake Assemblies. The part number in your picture indicates it is a left hand assembly # 23-464. We do offer replacement brake shoes for these in part # K71-675. In my opinion it will be much easier and faster to simply replace the entire brake assembly. That way it is more of a one-and-done and you do not have to spend time messing with replacing shoes and springs
