Features to Know About
Stay Out Longer: Maintain Battery Power on Weekend Trips
A weekend away should not revolve around watching your battery gauge. This 100-watt kit helps replace the power used by your refrigerator, phones, lights, and other essentials throughout the day. It is a practical starting point for a Jeep, truck, teardrop, or compact camper when you want quiet charging without bringing along a generator.
Get More From Your Panel: MPPT Charging Uses Available Solar Power More Efficiently
The included MPPT controller continually adjusts to changing sunlight, temperature, and battery conditions, then converts excess panel voltage into additional charging current. This helps send more of the panel's available energy to your battery throughout the day.
By comparison, a basic PWM controller brings the panel voltage down to closely match the battery, which can leave available solar power unused. MPPT technology helps you get more usable charging power from the same panel, especially when sunlight is limited or conditions change. Built-in protection guards against overcharging, reverse polarity, short circuits, and surges. The LCD screen and LED indicators also make it easy to check charging status, adjust settings, and identify errors.
Spend Less Time Gathering Parts: A Complete Kit Simplifies Installation
You do not have to match a panel with a separate controller, cables, brackets, and fuse protection. The essential components are included and designed to work together, while the instructions guide you through the installation. Once the system is connected, you can focus on packing for the trip instead of tracking down another missing part.
Start With Weekend Power: Expand the System as Your Trips Grow
Your first setup does not have to be your final setup. The controller supports additional solar capacity and common battery types, giving you room to adapt as you add gear, upgrade your battery bank, or spend more time away from hookups. You can start with the power you need now without replacing the entire system when your travel plans change.

I have the 2-panel Rich Solar kit installed on my Bontrager Outdoors Radical 12RAD and it's pretty impressive. I like how easy it was to get set up. The wiring was clearly labeled and the brackets were pre-drilled, which made everything feel straightforward and not overcomplicated. The 400-watt setup gives me enough solar to keep my batteries charging during the day. I was able to camp off grid for 4 days while using my 12 volt mini fridge, lights, fan and phone charger without hooking up to shore power.
I also like that the system is easy to expand. My trailer doesn’t have room for another roof panel, but having a plug for a portable panel makes it simple to add more power later if I need it. Overall, it feels like a solid mid-range option that’s affordable and DIY-friendly. 3486376
Plugged everything together, skipped the ground wire and threw it in the front pass-through. Never even opened the instructions - the thing just worked! 3638646

Great question, Jeff! If your trailer has a “Solar on the Side” port (typically SAE or Furrion), you still need a full solar kit like # RS27VR or # RS67VR, which include a controller.
The solar prepped trailers just have a port that leads to the trailer's battery, but it still needs the panel, wiring, and charge controller as these kits include. view full answer...
Great question George, the Rich Solar 100w panel kit # RS27VR has a controller rated for 20A which is about double what the 100w panel needs, so you can add another 100w panel for a total of 200w and still use the included controller without an issue.
One customer, Aaron in Georgia, started with the RS27VR on his tear trailer and added a second 100W panel the following year when he installed a 12V fridge and upgraded to two 100Ah AGMs. If you decide to go this route, you can use # RS77VR... view full answer...
Hi Alicia, we get this question a lot, and its a really important one if you’re trying to stay cool while off-grid. The short answer is: unfortunately, the Rich Solar 100w kit # RS27VR and 200w # RS37VR won’t be able to power your air conditioner directly, but we have a kit that will!
Here’s why: air conditioners, even smaller RV rooftop models like a 13,500 BTU unit, draw a lot of power, typically around 1,200–1,500 watts continuous, and even more at startup. The # RS27VR is a 100-watt... view full answer...
The Rich Solar RV kits 100w # RS27VR, 200w # RS37VR, 400w # RS97VR, and 1,200w # RS67VR are true complete kits. That means you’ll get:
Pre-drilled rigid monocrystalline panels
MPPT solar charge controller
MC4 cables and mounting brackets
Port to communicate with BT-1 Bluetooth module (module not included in all kits; might need to buy separately)
Wire, fuse, and hardware for rooftop-to-battery installation
If your rig has no entry plate, we recommend adding:

Yes! The Rich Solar panels and kits work great with lithium; the important thing is to make sure your charge controller supports lithium charging profiles. Many newer controllers do, but some older PWM types don’t. If you’re using a lithium battery like a Battle Born 100Ah, we recommend pairing this panel with a lithium-compatible MPPT controller to ensure proper voltage and charge cycles. Also, in case you want a specific compatibility list, here you go: lithium, gel, AGM, wet, crystal,... view full answer...
Absolutely, Trevor. The # RS27VR is a 100-watt kit, which makes it a perfect starter system for folks who are new to RVing or only taking short weekend trips. It’s designed to maintain a single 12V battery, which is ideal if you’re using lights, your water pump occasionally, and maybe charging a couple of devices. This won’t typically run your fridge or heavier loads, but it will definitely help prevent battery drain.

Yes! Even the smallest kit like the Rich Solar RV Solar Charging Kit w/ 1 Panel - 100 Watts # RS27VR is perfect for keeping your batteries topped off while your rig is parked.
We had a customer in Utah install it on their horse trailer for about 6 months, even in the winter, and had no issues. The MPPT controller avoids overcharging and works great with AGM or lithium batteries in storage.
Bonus tip: The included tilt brackets can improve winter charging if you’re parked long-term, helping... view full answer...
Hey Henrick, yes I can help you out with finding a good solar panel for the Rich Solar Alpha 1 Pro Lithium Battery # RS74VR. First let's do some quick math based on your electronics:
A 12V fridge (60W × 10 hours) = 600Wh
LED lights, fan, phone charging = 150Wh
Total: ~750Wh per day
You’ll need at least 750Wh of solar charging per day just to break even.
If you used a 100w kit # RS27VR, you would be helping the battery from discharging as quickly, but it's not going to be enough to keep... view full answer...
Good morning Brianna!
On a good sunny day, a 100W panel like the Rich Solar # RS27VR can produce about 30–35 amp-hours of power over 5–6 hours of direct sun. That’s ~6 amps of charge per hour which is enough to recharge a partially depleted 100Ah battery like the Rich Solar Alpha Lithium Battery # RS74VR, run your lights and phone chargers, and top you off for the evening.
Its not enough for heavy draws like a DC fridge, TV, or microwave, but for basic weekend use, its plenty. We often... view full answer...
Yes, Kirk! The output voltage from the RS-series panels is ideal for charging a 12V battery bank, whether made from 6V batteries in series or a single 12V battery. Just make sure you’re using an appropriate solar charge controller PWM or MPPT between the panel and batteries.
Is your motorhome prepped for solar already? If so, you can use Rich Solar RV Solar Charging Kit w/ 1 Panel - 12V - 100 Watts # RS27VR or Rich Solar RV Solar Charging Kit w/ 1 Panel - 12V - 200 Watts # RS37VR.

The Rich Solar Portable Panel # RS27VR and # RS37VR are lightweight and and come with the necessary controller and cables to connect to your solar-ready port on the trailer.
Megan in Utah said it was easier than setting up her tent, and her deep cycle battery stayed full all weekend while she used lights, a fan, and recharged her phone. What areas are you planning... view full answer...
Hey Frank! This really depends on your battery size and expected use. I'll assume you're adding something like a 100 Ah battery to the trailer.
If you're adding a couple LED lights and will be using them occasionally, with the trailer mostly sitting, you can add a simple panel like the OptiMate Solar Duo Portable Solar Panel with Controller # MA89JR. This has a 20W panel that will keep your battery topped off, and be able to handle charging the battery from occasional use of the lights.
