CE Smith Boat Trailer Parts - CE27740

  • Guides
  • Post-Style Guide
  • Galvanized Steel
  • PVC
  • 40 Inch Tall
  • CE Smith

Lighted guide-on posts make it easy to load your boat onto your trailer and safer to transport it at night. They attach to the rear of your trailer and extend out of the water, providing visual targets to center the boat between during loading.

Features:

  • Guideposts assist you in centering your boat as you load it onto your trailer
    • 1-1/2" Diameter, 16-gauge, pre-galvanized steel tubes are covered with 2" PVC piping for strength and durability
    • Simple installation on rear crossmember of trailer frame with included hardware
  • LED lights ease loading process and make trailer more visible at night
    • Glows amber at front, bright red at rear
    • Alerts other drivers to your position
    • Makes trailer easy to see while you are backing it up or loading your boat
    • Features 1-piece, sealed units that are shockproof and waterproof
    • Activates automatically with your trailer's tail lights
    • Longer-lasting and more energy efficient and durable than incandescent lights
  • Simple installation
    • Wires into your trailer's tail lights
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Quantity: 2 boat guide-ons
  • Application: trailer frames up to 3" wide x 4-1/4" tall
    • 2 Extra-long U-bolt kits (CE11416; sold separately) are required for mounting on frames up to 3" wide x 5-1/4" tall
  • Height: 40"
  • Adjustable out to 13" on each side

Note: Check with your state Department of Transportation for restrictions regarding maximum trailer width.

When your boat trailer has been backed down the ramp and is partially submerged, these 40" tall guideposts that are mounted at the rear corners of the frame will stick out of the water, giving you two highly visible targets to guide your boat between for loading. The built-in LED lights on the posts stand out at night, making it easier for you to load your boat in the dark and for other drivers to see your trailer when you're on the road. The pre-galvanized steel support posts mount horizontally on top of or below your trailer's frame rail. Just slide the posts into the boat guide supports and secure the posts so that the distance between them correctly matches the width of your boat.

Pre-Galvanized Steel

Pre-galvanized steel parts are stamped from a sheet of steel after it has already been galvanized. The edges of the pre-galvanized parts often lose their zinc coating during the stamping process. Because of the thinness of the coating less than 1 mm and the fact that the edges remain exposed, pre-galvanized parts can begin to oxidize and rust quickly, so its recommended that they be primed and painted.

Works perfectly just like first day after Ive installed it. I have ran the lights wiring not only inside the plastic posts, but also through the metal L-shaped brackets. Also, its been sitting out in the weather elements over Winter... Definitely a quality product I would recommend, as well as my trailer hitch assembly which Ive easily installed myself as well.

by:

Arrived quickly, easy to install and looks really nice on our boat trailer for our 2021 Tahoe T16 boat.

by:

These are awesome. Helps as a guide on when putting boat back on the trailer plus allows me to have great vision of the trailer while backing trailer without the boat. Finally added lighting of trailer when towing at night. Easy to install. Best all around addon for the trailer.

by:

Had to purchase longer ubolts as my trailer frame must be taller then average. I knew it would be close when I purchased. Not etrailers error, but mine.

Still holding up well. Certainly aids in backing the trailer up when empty as I cannot see the trailer when in tight places until it emerges from the side of truck. A cover on my bed restricts the view and the poles take care of that.

by:

The guides really help with loading on my trailer especially if there is wind or a current. In addition I can easily verify that my marker lights are working every time I check my side view mirrors.

by:

The CE Smith lighted guide ons are great…to me they are the most important when there is no boat on a trailer. With trailers being too low without boat loaded it allows very good recognition of where your trailer is on and off the boat ramp. The lights in the dark are very bright and are a great help backing an empty trailer. I highly recommend them

by:

This has made all of difference in the world. It helps with backing up since you can see the lights even if the boat and trailer are too low to be seen from the rear view mirrors. It also helps a lot at night with lining the boat up with the trailer. Before the lights were submerged so it was hard to tell where the trailer really was. Would definitely buy again!

by:

Work great... as described... Nice prod uct...

Works great!! No problems at all...

by:

Installation of these guides was pretty simple. I did have to slide the axle forward a few inches, but that was not a big deal. They work great, are very stable, and help considerably when backing at night.

They have been great. I do have one light that’s been intermittently off, but that is probably a loose ground I can deal with.

by:

I was very pleased at how quickly my order arrived. I had some difficulty installing the guides. I have a very small trailer that carries my Gheenoe. The instructions don't cover my situation where the brackets had to be installed to a parallel trailer cross member. I thought I had it figured out until I realized that the u-bolts were too long. I visited my local West Marine to see if they had a solution & pressure treated 2x4 blocks under the brackets were recommended. Not the ideal solution but it was economical and worked. I am pleased with the product other than the installation difficulty.

by:

Liked one of the two of the pair. One is working great so far. One didn’t make it two hours into the first trip of pulling the boat trailer. And you can’t buy just one. You have to buy as a pair.

I reached out to the manufacturer and they suggested making sure all connections are secure as the LEDs should not be going out like that.

by:

These work just as billed and have been great. They guide the boat onto the trailer, which suddenly makes one-person boating possible. And the lights at the top give me great visibility at night on the highway. An added bonus is that now I can see where the rear of the trailer is when it is empty and I'm backing up to the ramp to retrieve the boat. Installation was easy. Make sure to wipe your ball joint/hitch connection clean, since these ground through the frame, not a fourth wire. If they don't light up right a way, jiggle the rig and I bet they'll blossom.

by:

Highly recommend, great product, makes loading my boat easy!

by:

Product was excellent although all i needed was the lights, brackets and the angle tubes. he PVC pipes were to short anyway so I went and bought a 10ft length of PVC pipe for a lot cheaper then in sure what the breakdown price of the 2 pieces they sent was.

I ordered this set of guide ons when I started redoing my boat and my summer got busy and as September rolled around I finally got them mounted and wires hooked up.
Unfortunately now it’s deer season and the boat is going into storage. Get back with me in May and I might have it in the water.

Great. Just like if they were factory installed.

by:

I am very happy with the product that I have. I had to buy 2 and modify to fit my boat and now it looks great and it works well. Thank you.

by:

I'm very pleased with the lighted CE Smith guide post for my boat. There very easy to install, and the LED lights are super bright. The guidepost makes it very easy to load the boat onto the trailer keeping the boat from blowing off the trailer with the wind or the current pushing it off. Great customer service experience with E Trailer and very fast shipping. Overall giving them five stars and would definitely recommend them and we'll be using them again in the future!

Thanks, the boat strap and the lighted posts guides are still working great !

by:

Great product. I cut the plastic tubes so that the lights are at the top of the sideboards to prevent catching the docking line on them during loading. My trailer has heavy metal rectangular tubing so the supplied screw to ground the lights was not heavy enough to penetrate with the recommended drill size. I used a self drilling/tapping screw with great success.

The brackets were very well designed and hold the square tubing of the light very well.

I have been very happy with the CE Smith Boat Trailer guide-onlights. Metal parts are still shiny with no hint of rust. Lights assist in trailer placement for docking and assist trailer towing maneuvers easier to tell where the end of the trailer and boat are located relative to the towing vehicle. As you can tell, I have been very pleased with the quality and performance of the CE guide-ons with LED lights.

by:

Fast shipping. Easy install. Made the trailer look like a custom order.

by:

GREAT PRODUCT. HAD TO MODIFY MOUNTING DUE TO TRAILER DESIGN, BUT WORKED OUT PERFECTLY. USING A LITTLE COMMON SENSE AND MECHANICAL ABILITY YOU CAN DO MOST ANYTHING. SEE PIC.

by:

the U-bolts are not big enough for a 4x7 I-frame, but I bolted the brackets directly to the frame and made it work anyways.

I also made it removable, because installed, the trailer would exceed 8.5 ft width.

One star deduction because the brackets came raw mild steel, not galvanized.

by:

Install completed . U bolts should be stainless for marine applications. Better wire taps with silicone would be better .

by:

This is great! Also - here’s the CE17720 fender all complete and installed. I like the split lighting on the poles, easy to install and much better than - at least for me - piecing together stuff from a hardware store. Worth a little extra dough for these rock solid poles!

  • Are Roller Bunks or Keel Rollers Needed on the CE Smith Boat Trailer Part # CE48810
The CE Smith Boat Trailer part # CE48810 comes with guide ons which help to center your boat during loading and to hold the boat during transport so I don't really recommend adding anything additional in regards to this aspect because of the size of the boat. However, if you will be launching your boat at night or in the early mornings I recommend using the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons with LED Lights part # CE27740 which will provide visual targets.
