The legs are angled beyond the platform of the step to increase stability. We purchased this large step for our Class B RV. The running board step is small and narrow and one had to be careful entering and exiting the RV. This step is large enough to place your entire foot on it and is extremely sturdy. Its large enough so that it is easy to not miss when stepping in and out. It is one of the best purchases we have made for the RV. We would HIGHLY recommend it! We would give it 10 stars if we could!

Excellent product. Very sturdy and well built. The first step into our camper is just too high. This is a real good way to get in and out of it safely. We also like the yellow safety color drawing attention to its being there. The large size of the platform is also great!

This step is really heavy duty and with a large platform. It arrived fast. First thing I did was take it out of the box and stood on it with my 300 plus pounds of weight in the kitchen-very stable and strong. This step exceeded my expectations. I bought it for our camping trailer which has a high lift axle. My wife likes it so much she wants it left in the house to do chores. Guess I might have to buy another one for the camper. ETTRAILER was the only company that had this SAFETY STEP in stock without having to back order. Thankyou!

It's a step. Works great. Unfortunately, it was abused, and needed to be replaced. Rubber feet fall off easily, and if people are too lazy to properly fold the legs in, the locking mechanisms break.

The height was perfect for our dogs to look out the window. The step saved us a lot of time in not having to construct a platform. I am sure we will find other uses in and around the house. We liked how the legs snap open and close when not needed.

This step will be used at a charter bus operation. I have been driving charter busses since 1993. Older senior citizens need help negotiating that first step. I like that the legs fold up.

I ordered both the SASXL-08C-G & SASXLA-09C-G & Stromberg Carlson S-150 Safety Steps for use on my 5' X 8' Custom Cargo Trailer. I did side by side comparisons on each of these 3 steps, considering weight, longevity, storage, and most importantly stability. This Model SASXL-08C-G Step WON OVER above these others! Well made, light-weight, easy handling, Very stable when you properly spread the legs out. Very Happy with this model Safety Step. You get what you pay for! I will add some factory looking bright yellow strips to my steps, see photos. (Note: Some of my photos would not upload)

@LazerS Thank you for the kind comments. Yes! We love the additional upgrade we made using the "3M Safety Walk" Grip Kit w/ yellow strip, (available Amazon or Home Depot). I had to order Qty (2) strip kits to complete the two yellow strips install on the steps. The backing and grippy material match exactly the steps grippy material in both look & feel. I also tightened the bolts that the bottom legs are attached to and this allow the step legs not to swing around when storing the step away. Now the step's legs stay put and do not pop out so easily when the step is closed and stowed away. These two small changes really made this Step now stand apart from ALL others!

@LazerS I am using my 5' X 8' Powerline (single Axle) Custom Cargo Trailer for work. To take to events called Hamfests (Amateur Radio Swap meets & flea markets) where we buy & sell various electronic items. We stow away all our 8ft foldable tables and strap them down with our E-tracks and ratchet straps. Same with our Pop up Canopy Tents. Then use various plastic storage bins to stow away smaller items. We plan to use our Cargo Trailer to travel to various electronic swap meets and set up our tables and tents to sell items, as well as stow away items we purchase at these events we travel to throughout the year. Having a Cargo trailer means I do not have to rush the day before packing the car or truck with items each and everytime I want to go to one of these events. My new Cargo Trailer will be packed and ready to go! Also do not have to worry about rain, whereas before I had to wrap everything in large trash bags in the back of my truck and travel for hours sometimes thru bad weather. Always wanted a small custom cargo trailer built for this purpose. We have been planning the build for 6 months, thinking of everything we may need to make the investment easier to use and last for many years.

The Nerf style side steps will often give you a slightly lower step than the factory running boards but probably not enough to make the difference you are seeking. Additional Step to Make Getting In and Out of 5th Wheel Trailer Easier
Steps such as # AS24 are not designed for permanent installation on a 5th wheel trailer. These steps are meant to be removed/installed when needed and you normally see them on in-bed campers. The other issue is that if you added permanent mount steps to your 5th wheel trailer the additional step could cause the whole assembly to hang too low and cause ground clearance problems while towing the trailer.
