Question:

I just bought a 2019 Tucson. I thought I could transport my 12' Jon boat with a trailer but after looking at my manual it says I shouldn't tow with my vehicle. Do you have any other way for me to transport my boat like on the roof?

We do have a solution for you via installing a roof rack on your 2019 Hyundai Tucson.

If your Tucson has flush mount rails that run front to back then I recommend the Thule WingBar Evo roof rack which consists of 47" # TH711220 WingBar Evo Bars, the Evo Flush Foot Pack # TH710601, and Fit Kit # TH186013.

If you just have a naked roof (no rails) then I recommend the Inno Aero style roof rack which uses Crossbars # INXB138-145, Through Feet # INXS250, and Fit Kit # INK680.

The Thule roof rack has a weight capacity of 165 lbs while the Inno roof rack has a weight rating of 120 lbs. You will need to check your owner's manual or with a local dealer though about the weight rating for the roof of your Tucson and go with the lower rating.

Once you have the roof rack installed you can then use the Thule Portage # TH819 which uses gunwale brackets for easier carrying of your 12' Jon Boat. This also comes with bow/stern straps to help secure your boat.

To assist in the loading process you may consider using a step platform like part # SASXL-08C-Y.
