Question:

Looking to see if I need the SumoSprings Part Number: SSR-312-54 or SumoSprings Part Number: SSR-312-47. I tow a fifth wheel 6-8 hitch weight 1280 and dont really tow anything else.

Hey Joe, thanks for reaching out!

The only real difference (aside from color) for the SumoSprings Kit # SSR-312-47 and Kit # SSR-312-54 is that the former is rated to help with 1,500 lbs while the latter is rated to help with 2,800 lbs.

The 1,500 lb kit will work just fine if your hitch (pin) weight doesn't go over 1,280 lbs, but in your case it wouldn't hurt to get the 2,800 lb kit because that will also help alleviate any sag if you load some cargo up in the bed to haul. Since the SumoSprings work in a progressive manner, you won't have a harsher unloaded ride quality if you go with the higher-rated kit.

Completely up to you, but I'd go with the Kit # SSR-312-54 for the extra capacity in case you ever need it.

Do you plan on using your truck to haul anything, or is it mainly used just for towing the 5th wheel?

Hey Joe, did you decide to go with the higher-rated SumoSprings for extra capacity, or did the 1,500 lb kit meet your needs? I'm asking because your experience could help others in a similar situation.
