TorkLift GlowStep with GlowGuide

The GlowGuide handrail is designed to attach to both your camper or RV and your GlowStep scissor steps (sold separately). While the exact positioning of the mounting brackets will vary based on your application as well as your personal preferences, you will have 2 attachment points on your camper: one for the upper arm of the handrail assembly and one for the strut arm. The lower arm attaches to your stairs with the included brackets.

To position the handrail, unfold the arms and pull the rail assembly out from your camper. Then slide the lower arm into the brackets that are mounted on your GlowStep stairs. Adjust the length of the arms by loosening the built-in hand knobs and telescoping the bars. Tighten the knobs back down once the arms are all in place. The tension on the system is what secures the handrail in position.

To store the rail, remove the GlowGuide completely by taking out the pull pins that hold the upper arm and the strut arm to your camper.

So far so good. Only one misshap due to my son missing a step and pushing down real hard on the top handrail. Unfortunately it snapped and I had to macgyver it back together by fitting a sanded down broom handle inside the aluminum tube. Worked great ever since. Mu only suggestion would be to use heavier wall aluminum tube.

Excellent step system especially for truck campers!

by:

I have an older camper so finding mounting points was a little difficult, but the product works just fine now that I haven’t mounted

3.5 STARS if I could. Don't get me wrong this device definitely solves a substantial problem and reduces risks from high 4-5 step scissor stairs and I would encourage anyone with 4 to 6 steps down from a camper to buy and utilize this immediately. It really does work and provide a sense of safety. It also matches up nicely with Torklifts scissor step system. Don't let the 3.5 stars prevent you from purchasing this. Reason form my rating:

I deducted 1 STAR simply because the 3rd Stabilizer bar mounting bracket is a rigid, one position only bracket. When the stairs are expanded or contracted due to varying terrain, the single position bracket can sometimes be problematic. (Test various stair positions before screwing the stabilizer post bracket in place to avoid possible extra holes being drilled) This bracket should be adjustable and rotate on an axis. What baffles me on this, is that this is Torklifts 2nd or 3rd iteration of this product and I would have expected them to catch this little detail.

I deducted 1/2 STAR because I think the product is a bit overpriced.

Having said this, I reiterate that the product does work as advertised and I WOULD recommend anyone with Torklift Scissor stairs 4 or 5 steps (plus) to spend the money. It will definitely provide a more safe and secure situation when ascending or descending these high steps. (One more note: Mine is mounted on a Arctic Fox 811 Camper shown fully extended to Max Height)

After one year of usage, I still feel this is a must have product. Continues to work just as well as the day I first installed it. Very solid product. I would definitely buy it again should the need arise. Honestly couldnt imagine not having this on the camper and sing its praises every time we use it.

by:

I bought the handrail to go with the glow steps very pleased works perfectly, but didn’t receive the brackets and strap to hold in the travel postion. I just want to add that I have a Arctic Fox 1150 truckcamper. I purchase from Etrailer a 48” titan hitch extension and Rockymount swing away bike rack to carry our electric bikes. I said this to let you know that the stairs and bike rack work perfectly together and travel very well together.

It is still working great! We did a 8000+ mile RV trip this year and loved the setup every time we used it. We got many looks and complements from fellow rver’s.

Don't use the free shipping pay for the UPS shipping if you need it or it could take weeks to get it.i order it on the july 14th i was going on vacation the 24th it was delivered on the 26th to bad I'm not at home.
I WILL NEVER USE E TRALER AGAIN !!

by:

We display our off-road camper rig at several shows a year, and this handrail has been great for people taking tours. It is very sturdy and safe.

by:

The hand rail works well. The tube that fits into the stair fitting is apparently a interference fit. You have to really jam it in there so it does not wobble. There are threads in the plastic fitting on the end with nothing to thread into it. I would have thought there would have been a threaded fitting to lock it in place. But like I said it works.

by:

As all Torklift products I've purchased and installed over the the years, Jay makes a great product. Always gives you more than you need for an installation, which makes your individual install all the more easier.
Thanks for the expedited delivery...Now if just hadn't been 114 here in Arizona, it would have been more of a delight!

by:

Theses folks are great to deal with. Easy order and fast shipping. This was just what the wife wanted to make her feel safe going in and out of the camper. She's happy I'm happy. You can see the before and after had to add another step too.

by:

It mounted nicely.i would recommend to anyone who needs a sturdy handrail to navigate their RV stairs.

This Torlift Glowguide Handrail "fills the bill" for what we wanted to add to our travel trailer. Some family members, especially those who are elderly or have physical handicaps. Our Torklift Uprising Glowsteps, with their 7 1/2-inch rise for each step, have 5 steps from the ground to our floor level. Some felt uneasy climbing so many steps, unaided, even though the steps of the Uprising Glowsteps are not as steep and are closer together than almost every leading brand of step. The Torklift handrail was very easy to install, takes only a couple of minutes to re-attach or remove for travel, and makes people feel much more secure as they mount the steps into our travel trailer. The handrail is not meant to bear the full weight of a person, or to be used to "pull" yourself up into a trailer with your arms. But simply having a sturdy, steady handhold as you mount the steps makes even those with physical handicaps or balance problems feel much more secure when ascending or descending our Uprising Glowsteps into our trailer. BTW, our Torklift Uprising Glowsteps were really our only choice of steps for our trailer (our steps were also bought through eTrailer). Having an enclosed RV garage, which does not have the room (width) to allow the MORyde Step Above or Lippert Solidstep, the swing-down steps, that our travel trailer was equipped with, to pivot down to the ground, we had no access to the inside of the trailer once it was inside our garage. Our son's trailer, kept in a rented RV storage shed, has the same problem, with the nearby RVs too close to allow the steps to pivot down. As with our travel trailer with the Lippert Solidsteps, he has to hook up and pull his trailer out of its rental stall to be able to access the inside of his trailer. The Torklift Uprising steps "scissor" out, and can be used in any position between straight down (like a ladder) to fully extended, so we have easy access to our trailer when inside the garage. Once folded, the steps flip up inside the door opening, but with a total height above the floor of only a little over 1 ft. Using a 3-step stepstool, we could easily step over them into the trailer without folding them down. A VERY welcome benefit of having the Torklift steps is that the steps are closer together than any other leading brand of steps, and are MUCH easier to climb with our aging hips and knees! The Torklift Glowguide Handrail that we added a year ago is the perfect compliment to our Uprising Glowsteps for anyone with physical handicaps, worn-out knees or hips, or balance problems.

Installation was a breeze. The product is exactly what we wanted!

by:

This handrail is great for steadying as you go up and down the torklift steps. As others have said, it will not bear a lot of weight or force. I like that it's pretty easy to install (drilling required though) and it's adjustable and must be removed before steps are stowed.
I don't like the price and the lack of sturdiness.
When I purchased the handrail and torklift steps, I justified the cost as being cheaper and less painful than a trip to the ER.

The handrail works as expected. When properly set up, its pretty sturdy forentering and exiting the rv. No, it wont break a fall and ther will no antics of sliding down the rail- its not designed for that. Putting pins in and taking them out can be tedious, but otherwise the handrail does its job.

by:

Ordered unit on Thursday, paid 50 dollars frieght to have on Friday. Got item and it was missing hardware. I called was told they would ship new hardware package out overnight.
Did not receive it on Saturday. Had to leave on trip on Sunday without it ,we are 70 years old and really needed it for safety.
Not really happy right now. I hate it when I lied to.

by:

Very happy with the railing system. I use it with the Tork lift glow steps on my camper and was impressed by how much it stiffened the feel of the steps. Since my camper entry is around 4 feet high the railing makes it much more safe and secure to use the steps.

Still very happy with the railing after using it for a year. We have several young grandkids and makes it much easier and safer for them to use the stairs.

by:

First off I have to say this is NOT the same GlowGuide Handrail that appears on the Torklift web site or the etrailer.com web site. Seems that Torklift has updated the handrail. What does that mean? Well if you're like me you did your research and looked at reviews, online videos, etc., before deciding what would work best for you. I really liked this system as it could be "locked" in a storage position for travel and you didn't have to remove it each time you packed up... at least that's how it appeared on the Torklift installation videos and their website. In their redesign, Torklift discontinued the additional mounting brackets needed to mount the handrail in a storage position, thus making the lock I also purchased useless.

Here is where both etrailer.com and Torklift deserve recognition for great customer service. While Torklift never really explained how they intended the "new" handrails to be mounted for travel, William B. at etrailer.com was great and when I reached out to them regarding the 'missing' brackets from the installation kit, he contacted Torklift and the company sent out an additional hardware kit at no charge that included two more mounting brackets. While this solved my issue, I'm not sure yet if Torklift has taken the necessary steps to update their product information on their website and let potential customers know that the handrail no longer includes all the mounting hardware necessary to store the handrail outside with the lock they advertise for it. The handrail itself is very well made and locks in to be very sturdy and stable, so I can't knock the product. It is as good as advertised. Both Toklift and etrailer.com have great customer service and Torklift makes great products. I think overall this just was a case of the product being upda
ted faster that the installation instructions and videos. Bottom line for me is that I will be a returning customer to etrailer.com and I will consider Torklift products gain in the future.

by:

We needed a handrail to access the 5 steps to our camper door. The handrail was easy to install and does the job. However, keep in mind it is not able to support full bearing weight and is not designed for that. It is in my opinion a safe way to assist in balance and stability as you walk up your stairs. It is very easy to store and re-attach at you next destination.

by:

Very stable handrail. Only negative is tha Getting the pins in and out requires pliers.

Still very happy with the products. Very stable.

by:

We are very satisfied with the Torklift steps which we purchased for our camper. The closer spacing and increased stability from the ground have been a big help for my wife who had after effects from a stroke.

by:

Added this hand rail to our tork lift stairs,as we our getting older and wanted added safety for us and older friends getting in and out of our 5th wheel RV. Really happy with it. Straight forward install and easy off for storage when moving. Thanks

by:

After installation for the first time, the hand rail works great. Perfect for the customer that needs a little help getting up and downs stairs safely without falling. We like them.

by:

Have dealt with etrailer many times. Always courteous, professional and responsive to my needs. Current order was delayed but, not etrailer fault.

by:

as I mentioned in my review on the steps we really do like the hand rail it helps one to feel a lot safer a great product.
