Recommended Hand Rail for a Truck Bed Camper w/ TorkLift GlowSteps

Hey Redentor welcome back! To add a handle rail to your Fleet model FWC truck bed camper, I highly recommend the TorkLift GlowGuide Handrail item # TLA7621. You talked about having the TorkLift GlowSteps the last time we spoke and this handrail is designed specifically for them.

The TorkLift GlowGuide Handrail item # TLA7621 is extremely simple. All you'll need to do is attach two small brackets to the backside of your camper and another to a slot on your steps. The rail consists of three extendable poles that can be collapsed down and stored inside your camper when you're traveling or can be mounted to the back side of your camper with the included storage brackets. You'll be able to adjust the pitch of the rail to match the angle of your steps.

I attached a couple of pictures below so you can see the Handrail item # TLA7621 installed. I also linked a review video we made so you can get a good look at the steps being used.

If you were to go with a MORyde hand rail, the 54" item # MR54BR would be the correct one. You will want to make sure you have at least 2-1/2" of clearance measured from the door frame for the rail to mount, along with 1-7/8" of space under the door to fit the bottom bracket. The pitch of this handrail can not be adjusted. If you go this route, I highly recommend checking your door clearance and taking a look at the measurements on the diagram below. This will allow you to see where the rail is going to end and the angle it follows your steps.

Thanks for your reply to my inquiry. I’m in Dallas, Texas right now and my truck camper is in the Philippines. I’m going back in August and I will measure what side rails I need to install, either Torklift or MORyde hand rail. I like the MORyde for its minimalist look but is it sturdier compared to the Torklift hand rail? The MORyde 34”/16” seems my choice for installation simplicity, I don’t need to cut the bottom section of the wall. I know the measurement and angle is short, but this might work better for my truck camper. I need more stability to hold the hand rail going down and not so much climbing back.

@RedentorE You're welcome! The TorkLift GlowGuide Handrail item # TLA7621 is going to be a bit sturdier because it has three points of contact over the MORryde item # MR34RV with two. The stability at the top part of your stairs will definitely be there though. As far as simplicity goes you are correct the MORryde item # MR34RV wins by a mile.
