Is There A Guard Attachment For The TorkLift GlowStep Scissor Steps?

Updated 02/16/2026 | Published 06/19/2025

Question:

I’m looking for a way to make our steps safer. My husband and I have both fallen because the 1st and 2nd steps aren’t deep enough. Our foot slips between the steps. Is there an attachment to guard against this. Someone is really going to get hurt!

Hello Lisa, thanks for reaching out. It sounds like you have one of the TorkLift GlowStep Scissor Steps. We do offer a barrier kit for that step. Take a look at the following:

- SafeStep Vinyl Barrier for TorkLift GlowStep Scissor Steps for Campers, RVs, and Trailers # TLA7602

This is designed more for pets or small children, to keep them from slipping thru the gap. This will be the only type of guard product available for your step. They attach to the back of each step to fill the gap, and they can remain on the steps when they fold up. Just keep in mind if your step is a 5 or 6 step, you will want a total of two kits.

Aside from that, the only other thing I can think of to make the step safer would be to add a hand rail like the TorkLift GlowGuide Handrail for Campers and RVs with GlowStep Scissor Steps # TLA7621.

What model step do you have exactly?

Hi Lisa, did you have a chance to try the SafeStep Vinyl Barrier or the TorkLift GlowGuide Handrail to make your steps safer? I'm asking to see if these solutions worked for you, as it could help others facing similar issues.

Please answer the question. This is a serious problem. Somone is going to get hurt bad if not already. You need to put a warning label on them. OR FIND A SOLUTION instead of skirting around the issue. You know that vinal is not going to work on the top step gap between the step and landing.

@Trevor Trevor, I understand the concern. At this time, TorkLift does not offer a guard or filler for the top step gaps, and there is not a manufacturer solution available for stopping feet from slipping in between the steps. If there was, I certainly would have mentioned it. The most practical option is adding a larger, more supportive handrail so there is solid support through the entire step transition. In some cases, switching to a step system with a larger top platform can also help.
