Video Transcript for 2017 Ram 1500 CIPA Deluxe Door Mount Mirror: Complete Installation

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Ram 1500, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the CIPA Deluxe Door-Mount Mirror. Here at the back of our trailer, you can see we have plenty of visibility in our factory mirror, but if I step outside you lose that visibility in your factory mirror but gain it in your towing mirror. This is going to help on passing, parking or even reversing with a trailer or camper. Now you can adjust your mirror in and out with these two knobs to fit your needs by simply turning these two screws. We'll loosen them, slide our mirror out and tighten them back down. The mirror itself is fully adjustable; forward, backwards, side-to-side and diagonal. This mirror also offers a tilt feature with this knob here. Loosen it and you can lower your mirror or raise your mirror. This towing mirror is going to allow full adjustability on your factory mirror, and unlike others, it's not going to clip onto your factory housing. However, with this mirror you don't have the option of folding your mirror into the vehicle. Both your top buckle and your bottom buckle are going to have a rubber pad so you don't have to worry about scratching the finish on the vehicle.

You're also going to have a crank that's going to tighten the belt to keep your mirror secured against the vehicle. It's going to have little plastic sleeves or little plastic stickers that allows you to roll your window up while these are installed. It's not going to damage the glass. Now that we've gone over some of the features, let's show you how to get it installed.First thing we need to do is, with the door open, you're going to take this top metal bracket, these two tabs are going to fit right in between the two rubber strips that are located in between the inner door panel and the out part of the door. Then we're going to take our bottom hook, and we're going to hook it right on the bottom side of the door. Then we'll come up to the top, we're going to turn our crank, which in turn is going to tighten our belt, securing the mirror to the door. That'll do it of a look at and installation on the CIPA Deluxe Door-Mount Mirror, part number: 11650, on our 2017 Ram 1500.

Mirrors went together quick. Very easy to install. Excellent product.
Fit my 2010 Tacoma 4 dr perfectly.

Product arived on time and works just loike I was told it would.

by:

The product is better than advertized!! Fits great and looks good. Thanks a lot.

by:

I was very pleased with how easy it was to get what I needed and
the time it took in which to receive the merchandise.

by:

Was easy to install . Will be a big plus pulling a camper behind my midsole Nissan pickup truck

by:

I used my mirrors the day they came in the mail and they did everything that the product description had online. I am very pleased with the mirrors, the fit is good, simple to install, and I get a excellant rear view of my trailer.

by:

It was about the only product I found that would work with my Dodge Dakota truck. I needed it to see around an enclosed snowmobile trailer. It would be nice if the ratchet mechanism was on the other side that way if you only want one on the drivers side door you would be to put the mirror assembly closer to the truck mirror.

by:

Great got them for 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland
5 Star

by:

took 10 minutes to put these together and put them on my honda pilot..they work great....i can see behind me and feel a lot safer towing.

by:

The mirrors were easy to install. The mirrors adjust up and down on a swivel as well and in and out. They are stable at higher speeds and on bad roads. Very good product.

by:

Pretty good product. I mounted on my 06 Tundra. No matter how tight I get the strap, it seems to remain a little loose until I partially roll up the window. Other than that small problem, I think theses mirrors will work out great. They were easy to install an I would reccomend them if for no other reason that they are pretty universal for any vehichle. I plan to use them on my Ford F150 too.

by:

easy to install & adjustvery good item, easy install, no shake or vibration and no movement, even after 4500+ miles of all kinds of weather. Only wish they had a left & a right model ( the ratchet handle was a bit hard to adjust on the drivers side as it was against the car mirror)

by:

Mirrors installed.

by:

I tried different mirror mounts for my Toyota Tundra so I could see behind my 20 ft travel trailer and have found this product to be the best that I have ever seen.
I like the big mirror and I like the extra length that pulls out so you can see behind the travel trailer. Etrailer.com has excellent service and I received my package on time.
Thank you etrailer.com!

Took them out of the box and had them on and adjusted in 5 minutes. I kept them on to show them to my wife then in 15 seconds removed them. We have a Toyota 4runner and needed to see around our 23ft trailer and we can. Haven't road tested yet but not worried as they locked down tight when I set them up. Much better product then the kind you fit onto your existing mirrors. JB

I installed these mirrors as well as Cipa 5" spot mirrors for towing a travel trailer with my Jeep Liberty CRD. Setup was pretty straight forward. Because I was also attaching the spot mirrors, I bought a longer bolt to hold the mirror head to the arm. I was not comfortable with the amount of threads after going through additional brackets.

Going down the road, vibration was minimal and I felt 100% confident in the setup. I had no problems passing other vehicles and merging in traffic.

2 things keep this from being a 5 star product. 1st, tightening the strap on the drivers side is a bit hard because the T-handle is not reversible. The OEM mirror is in the way. Luckily, on my Jeep, the mirror also folds forward to make it a little easier to get to. I would suggest that Cipa use a removable T-handle with a 1/4" square on either end of the assemble so that you can tighten from either side, or use a 1/4" ratchet if you misplace the T-handle.

The other thing that keeps this from 5 stars is the mirror head. I feel that it is cheaply made. I notice when adjusting, the bottom of the mirror head would flex where the bolt threads into the head. I found that to adjust the mirror head vertically, I would have to cup the back of the mirror, holding both the top and bottom, as not to flex the head.

All in all, this is a great product, and after the initial setup and adjustment, these mirrors come on and off in minutes.

I mounted the mirror on the passenger side of my 1978 3/4 ton Chevy pickup. The mirror mounted easily, did not even need to read the instructions.

Tomorrow will be the real test when I drive 11 miles into town, fill my water tank, and return home. I am concerned that the hand tight bolts and screws will not withstand 11 miles over a dirt road and I will have to stop often and readjust them or they will vibrate out. Either way tomorrow is the big test.

Have been using the mirror as described above for a year now. once in a while I do have to readjust the mirror due to the rough roads but other than that it works great.

I give this product 5 Stars.

I
mounted these on my 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport. I have an 8.5 foot wide enclosed snowmobile trailer that I need to haul. I have no rear view with the stock mirrors. These mirrors provide excellent rear view on both sides of my vehicle. They are very easy to mount, are very solid, and cause no damage. I highly recommend this product.

by:

Very well made product; simple design and is sturdy. No shaking or vibration experenced. Used on 2014 Toyota Tacoma Crew Cab. Very pleased with this purchase, towing an 18' car hauler. Now for the negatives: extremely poor instructions; installs best with two people; suggest a list of tools be added, i.e. pliers. Strap tightening device works, but I could not operate it bare-handed. Mirror tightening system not very user friendly. All bolts should be hexhead, not plastic knobs.

by:

Bought this product for my 2016 Toyota Tacoma 4 door TRD sport. Towing a 28 ft travel trailer. These mirrors work great. Very little vibration . Easy installation. 15 minutes from unpackaging to mounted. For the money there are great a great Buy, and I would recommend them to anyone.

by:

These are the only towing mirrors that I have found that work very well on our 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Simple install took 15 minutes max and only required a 12mm wrench and a pair of channel lock pliers. And I really don't think that these mirrors will come off on the road and end up in the ditch. Thanks etrailer.

by:

2006 Toyota Sequoia SR5.
The mirrors
install easily and extend far enough to give us a good view of our 27 foot travel trailer. They have a good field of view and gave us plenty of confidence in lane changes, turns, and backing. Do be aware that when the straps get wet they get loose, so tighten them when it rains.

My only complaints are:

1. They do shimmy a bit at speed - not enough to be a hazzard but it is something of which you should be aware.

2. Over time the shimmy does move them out of position, so you will need to reposition them and check them at least once a day. One kept turning inward, the other kept pointing down.

All that being said, however, there are precious few options for vehicles of this type, and having tried others I do have to say these are the best.

by:

etrailer was great, received fast delivery. The product was fine except not a very good fit for my Toyota FJ due to the door curvature. Would work it's way loose when driving.

We do have some custom fit options that will fit better. Both CIPA and Longview make slip-over towing mirrors that slip onto the existing base mirrors and provide an extension to aid vision when towing. I have added links to CIPA mirrors, left mirror # 10701 and right mirror # 10702, and the Longview kit # CTM3100B.

Thank you for the photo of the OEM mirror on your 2016 Ford Transit T250. I added your quoted dimensions to the photo. Although we do offer clip-on towing mirrors made for taller mirrors, none is made to fit as tall a mirror as your 13-inch Ford mirrors. Part # CM11952 from CIPA is made for taller mirrors but its compatibility is limited to mirrors that are 7 to 10 inches tall.
