Video Transcript for CIPA Deluxe Door Mount Mirror Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the CIPA deluxe door-mounted mirror. Part number 11650. Our CIPA door mounted universal towing mirror is a great solution for towing needs when you need it to extend out your field of view. You've got an eight inch wide by five inch tall mirror. It's a flat mirror, so you're going to have a true reflection. Which means you're going to be able to see what you're looking at. It's going to extend out from the vehicle up to seventeen inches.

This is adjustable in and out, so you kind of fine tune it with your factory mirror. Of course, no interference with our factory mirror. The bracket height is low. Out of the way. Easy one hand tightening system here, that tightens our strap wholly.

All the way down. Our connection points from the bottom here. At the bottom of our door to where our buckle rests against the door, and even up here where they go in behind our door seal. Completely rubber coated, so we're going to have no worries or scratches or any kind of issues there. We have a good finish on our steel. Also, this parts made out of aluminum, so we're going to have good corrosion resistance.

Two little knobs here on the top allow our in and out adjustment. inaudible 00:01:25 Again, we can customize that view. Then depending on the size of door or the size of vehicle that we're going to be using. We've got a full adjustment here as well. This is going to slide in and out.

Allowing us to conform this to many different applications, and many different vehicles. The strap that goes down is kind of an automotive style, or a seat belt style belt, or strap. It's really going to be good heavy duty and long lasting. Now that we've gone over the features of the mirror, let me show you how to get this installed. As you can see, we've already fed the lips 00:01:59 on the inside in between our window and our window sill. We're now going to size up the bottom. We want our lower hook 00:02:09 to go all the way around and grab around the under side of the door. I'll just pop that open. Bring that into position there, and then we can close our door back. Now it's time to pull out a little bit of our slack. then start cranking our handle here at the top. You'll notice as I do that it cinches that strap right up for us. Our mirror's on there nice and secure. It's resting on the pad here, on our rubber pad that's on our bottom one, and on the rubber pads here at the top at our connection point. To place our mirror we're going to remove our bolt. It's here at the bottom. Place it right over the hole. Then we'll thread that right on in. All right. Now as you can see, the back of our new mirror is kind of making contact with our original mirror. We'll just loosen up our two black knobs in here. It's going to allow us to extend our mirror right on out. We'll tighten those two knobs back down. Secure it in place. As you'll see, we've got certainly a much more extended mirror. This comes out about seventeen inches. We've got a mirror five inches by eight inches. This is really going to extend our field of view. Makes changing lanes, parking, backing up, things like that much easier. Now that we've got the mirror installed, let's head out and see what it looks like in action. We're going to take it through the test course so you can really see what it looks like in a real world situation. Well start by going through a slalom course. This is going to show us the side to side movement. Just like if we we're changing lanes or doing some evasive maneuvers. Once we get around the corner we're going to start the alternating bump section. This is going to put some twisting and torquing action on the mirror, so we can see what it would be like if we hit a curve or a pothole. Just ahead we've got our solid speed bumps. This is going to mimic the up and down action as if we we're going in and out of a parking garage, or parking lot, or maybe a driveway. That will complete today's look at the CIPA deluxe door mount mirror. Part number 11650. .

These mirrors were a great option, easy on and off, hold their position well, and all at a good price. Would recommend to a friend, excellent product! 243799

Just received my two side mirrors, and installed them on my 1938 1-1/2 ton Chevrolet stake truck. Great quality, easy to install, and they now allow me to see around the side of the truck. Thanks for offering such a great product. 271988

I mounted the mirror on the passenger side of my 1978 3/4 ton Chevy pickup. The mirror mounted easily, did not even need to read the instructions. Tomorrow will be the real test when I drive 11 miles into town, fill my water tank, and return home. I am concerned that the hand tight bolts and screws will not withstand 11 miles over a dirt road and I will have to stop often and readjust them or they will vibrate out. Either way tomorrow is the big test. 406734

Have been using the mirror as described above for a year now. once in a while I do have to readjust the mirror due to the rough roads but other than that it works great.

These things work as well as advertised on the site however they don't move as far out as I had hoped for. Haven't tried them on the road but see no reason why they won't work out better than the stock mirrors 379769

I ordered two of these mirrors to put on a 1986 Dodge D250. One of the mirrors was cracked when I opened the box and a simple email to E-trail was all it took to start the replacement process. I received the new mirror within 5 days...THANK YOU!!! The mirrors them selves are not super quality, and there is a bit of "shaking" while driving down the road. That being said, for the price they work for what I need them to. Overall I would recommend them for anyone on a budget, and not using them on a daily basis. 568733

Side view extension mirrors for towing. CIPA deluxe door mount mirror Well made... not cheap materials. easy to install.. easy to take on and off. Only problem.. my Ford door is not a true flat slightly convex surface and there is a space between the strap and the door on the lower part of the door. This allows for the strap to vibrate at speeds over 30 mph and it makes a terrific roar. I am going to have to find a way to fill this space.. plan on gluing some insulating material to fill the space. 527928

Have had these mirrors out with my 19' travel trailer several times now, there have been no issues, they work very well. After having shopped quite extensively, I would buy these mirrors again. Happy Camper. 514602

Product was probably useful for someone else, but not me. Poor fit on Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck, I hate the attachment system, and field of vision was not sufficiently improved to make me feel comfortable towing the enclosed car trailer the mirror extension was used for. I sold the big trailer, and now tow an open car trailer or a small fiberglass camping trailer. Neither one requires the accessory strap-on mirror, and I am much happier using the stock Colorado mirror system. 500645

If you need to consider a different style of towing mirrors we do have other options that are universal fit style and that mount on your Colorados mirror, the door frame mounts are not for everyone. I have provided a link to the other options that we have confirmed as a fit for your Colorado.

I couldn't get the ones recommended for the Avalanche because it has the chrome caps on the side view mirrors. Even though the website said that the11650 might not work on my 2011 Avalanche, they worked just fine. I had a pretty good idea they would because the door on the 2010 Silverado, in one of the videos, was the same as my Avalanche door. Maybe some 2011 Avalanches have a plastic strip on the bottom of the door but mine didn't. They were easy to put together and put on the doors even for a non-mechanical person like me. They will make it much easier and safer for me to tow my travel trailer now and when I am not towing I can store them in my workroom. 401446

I tried different mirror mounts for my Toyota Tundra so I could see behind my 20 ft travel trailer and have found this product to be the best that I have ever seen. I like the big mirror and I like the extra length that pulls out so you can see behind the travel trailer. Etrailer.com has excellent service and I received my package on time. Thank you etrailer.com! Don C. KS 52567

I installed these mirrors as well as Cipa 5" spot mirrors for towing a travel trailer with my Jeep Liberty CRD. Setup was pretty straight forward. Because I was also attaching the spot mirrors, I bought a longer bolt to hold the mirror head to the arm. I was not comfortable with the amount of threads after going through additional brackets. Going down the road, vibration was minimal and I felt 100% confident in the setup. I had no problems passing other vehicles and merging in traffic. 2 things keep this from being a 5 star product. 1st, tightening the strap on the drivers side is a bit hard because the T-handle is not reversible. The OEM mirror is in the way. Luckily, on my Jeep, the mirror also folds forward to make it a little easier to get to. I would suggest that Cipa use a removable T-handle with a 1/4" square on either end of the assemble so that you can tighten from either side, or use a 1/4" ratchet if you misplace the T-handle. The other thing that keeps this from 5 stars is the mirror head. I feel that it is cheaply made. I notice when adjusting, the bottom of the mirror head would flex where the bolt threads into the head. I found that to adjust the mirror head vertically, I would have to cup the back of the mirror, holding both the top and bottom, as not to flex the head. All in all, this is a great product, and after the initial setup and adjustment, these mirrors come on and off in minutes. 52361

These mirrors are easy to install and I can see the back of my camper and boat much better when we are traveling. They were shipped within a couple of days and even though one of the mirrors was broke when delivered, I called the 800 number provided by the company and they sent me a new one within a couple of days. Very happy with the service and the product. 288317

2006 Toyota Sequoia SR5. The mirrors install easily and extend far enough to give us a good view of our 27 foot travel trailer. They have a good field of view and gave us plenty of confidence in lane changes, turns, and backing. Do be aware that when the straps get wet they get loose, so tighten them when it rains. My only complaints are: 1. They do shimmy a bit at speed - not enough to be a hazzard but it is something of which you should be aware. 2. Over time the shimmy does move them out of position, so you will need to reposition them and check them at least once a day. One kept turning inward, the other kept pointing down. All that being said, however, there are precious few options for vehicles of this type, and having tried others I do have to say these are the best. 78313

The safest, most convenient trailer mirror I've ever owned. First one that didn't end up on the highway after the first month of use. Sturdy and worth it. 586104

Really good mirror, you have to keep an eye on the screws and bolts, seem to come loose. Some vibration at highway speeds with the wind hitting the straps. But overall they help so much!! Once you get them set they pretty much stay there, some slight adjustment occasionally. They are 100 percent better then the cheap one I got the first time. I would buy them again and was even asked about them a couple of times at various campgrounds. Good product, thanks!! 580778

These mirrors appear well built and up to the job but they don't really fit my 2004 Tundra very well. The sliding piece along the webbing doesn't land on my door in a place that protects the door from damage. The appropriate place for it doesn't allow the arm to sit horizontally and the mirror ends up too low. Great service from Etrailer, as always. 525489

I have only used the mirrors once since purchase and they did the job I bought them for. I had them on a 1938 Chev, which is a narrow car, and I had to extend them all the way out to see around the trailer and they did bounce a little, but not so bad that I couldn't make out what I was looking at. 507900

This mirror is as good an aftermarket mirror as you could get. Easy set up, fits firmly to my door with no worry about marring my paint, and gives a very good field of view. Since I couldn't find a factory towing mirror for my vehicle, this was a very good choice 433658

I can't write a complete review on this product since I am just now going to use the mirrors this next week on a 3,500 mile round trip. I can say that the quality of the product received looks very good. Not being familiar with the set up it was a chore to do it by myself on the first one. I had help on the other side, but now that I have installed them once, it should be much easier the next time. They were necessary for me to purchase as I am pulling an 8.5 foot wide trailer behind a Chevrolet Silverado (1500) and it doesn't have very wide mirrors as standard equipment. I do feel confident that I made a wise choice in this selection 421833

Very well made product; simple design and is sturdy. No shaking or vibration experenced. Used on 2014 Toyota Tacoma Crew Cab. Very pleased with this purchase, towing an 18' car hauler. Now for the negatives: extremely poor instructions; installs best with two people; suggest a list of tools be added, i.e. pliers. Strap tightening device works, but I could not operate it bare-handed. Mirror tightening system not very user friendly. All bolts should be hexhead, not plastic knobs. 420312

This is an extra-large, universal towing mirror that will clip over the existing side mirror on your vehicle. The built-in clips on the arms will grab the lip between the glass on your factor mirror and the factory housing. As long as the mirrors on your Durango have this lip, these will work great. I have attached a video demonstration on this product for you to check out. For a mirror...

  • Towing Mirrors for 2008 Ford Explorer Limited
  • We do have universal fit towing mirrors but there are no custom fit towing mirrors for the 2011 Ford Explorer at present. I recommend the door mount mirror # 11650. It will fit as long as there is no molding or cladding at the bottom of the door. Another popular towing mirror is # KS3891 which straps to the factory mirror. I have linked videos of these mirrors for you to check out.

  • Universal-Fit Towing Mirrors for 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser
  • We do not have custom-fit towing mirrors for your 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser but we do have universal-fit towing mirrors of several varieties that might do the trick. Any custom-fit mirror for a Tundra or Tacoma will not fit. For a clip-on mirror that is very popular you can consider the K-Source # KS3891 or for an even wider field of view the door-mount # 11650. Both of these are sold individually so you'll need two to equip both sides of the Land Cruiser. Please refer to the linked...

  • Recommended Towing Mirrors for the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee
  • While there are no custom fit mirrors for your 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee, I would recommend the K-Source Universal Dual Lens Towing Mirrors # KS3990, because of the dual mirror adjustment that increases viewing area. I have a video of these installed on a vehicle linked for your convenience. If you prefer a solid mirror opposed to the dual, you will want the K-Source Mirror # KS3891. Another mounting option to the snap on, that I like, are the Cipa # 11650 which is a door mount...

  • Towing Mirror Recommendation for a 2013 Honda Ridgeline
  • They may not be the prettiest towing mirrors on the market, but it is really hard to beat the CIPA Deluxe Door Mount Mirror # 11650. These will attach to the door of your 2013 Honda Ridgeline and will provide you with an excellent, stable viewing angle. Check out the review video I attached for more information.

  • What Towing Mirror will Fit My 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer
  • I have some solutions for your 2006 Chevy Trailblazer using universal towing mirrors. I recommend the Cipa # 11650 which is a door mount design this will give you more adjustability in the length out from the vehicle for the mirror position can be in. Another solution is the K-Source Mirror # KS3891, this will work for you as long as you have a lip or space between the glass edge of the mirror and the mirror housing. It easily straps on around your existing mirror. These mirrors...

  • Universal Towing Mirrors for 2016 Ford Expedition Limited
  • The K-Source Snap & Zap Custom Towing Mirrors # KS81850 are a confirmed fit on Ford F-150 pickups for model years 2015 through 2017 but not for your Expedition. For your Expedition we can offer you universal-fit towing mirrors since no custom-fit products are offered. For the widest field of view a door-mount mirror is hard to beat. These work so long as you do not have plastic molding on the bottoms of the doors. CIPA offers part # 11650 which is sold as a single mirror that will fit...

  • Tow Mirror Recommendation for Mercedes GL320
  • For your Mercedes GL320 you will need to use a universal towing mirror because there are no custom fit towing mirrors available. There are many options and I have linked them for you. A mirror like # KS3891 could work. These mirrors require a lip or gap between the factory mirror housing and the glass and also work best on factory mirror housings that are more flat at the back. The universal towing mirror type that works the best is the CIPA door mount mirror # 11650. It will mount on...

  • Towing Mirror Recommendations for a 2015 Nissan Xterra
  • We have a variety of universal towing mirrors that could be used on your 2015 Nissan Xterra but there are no custom towing mirrors for it. You mentioned having bought a towing mirror from a place that isn't nearly as awesomely fantastic as etrailer. What about that mirror didn't work for you? I wouldn't want to recommend something that is exactly the same! I do have a couple of recommendations for you though. First, for mirrors that will clamp to the factory side mirrors you can...

  • Availability of Custom Towing Mirrors for 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
  • None of our mirror suppliers offer a custom slip-on towing mirror for a 4th generation GC like your 2014 model. We do offer some universal mirrors that would be a good choice for you. The K-Source Universal Towing Mirror, part # KS3891 uses ratcheting straps for easy installation/removal and a tight fit. CIPA offers a Deluxe Door Mount Mirror, part # 11650 is not the most attractive-looking option, but it is very highly rated by our customers, and is almost vibration free. I have...

  • Available Types of Towing Mirrors for 2002 Chevrolet Express Van
  • The Longview Custom Towing Mirror Set # LVT-1700 is designed specifically for the Chevrolet vans starting from the 2003 model year up through 2016. These have a different mirror design than your 2002 so they will not work for you. No similar custom-fit towing mirrors are offered for your 2002 but we can still help you with other options in towing mirrors. We offer several types of universal-fit towing mirrors. These include clip-on mirrors such as # KS3891 from K-Source and # 7070...

  • Recommended Towing Mirror for Slip On Mirrors for Lexus 470
  • Longview Towing Mirrors # LVT-2300-C are custom-designed to fit on Ford pickups, but for your 1999 Lexus LX 470 we can offer you better options in universal-fit towing mirrors. K-Source offers their clip-on towing mirror # KS3891 (sold individually) that fits on both driver- and passenger-side mirrors. The linked video shows this 7-3/4- tall x 5-1/8-inch wide mirror that is secured to your OEM mirrors with its ratcheting straps. If you prefer the widest possible field of view I suggest...

  • Towing Mirror Recommendation for 2011 Nissan Frontier
  • The only available towing mirror option for your 2011 Nissan Frontier is going to be a universal fit mirror. There are currently no custom fit slip-on mirrors that will fit your truck. I have included a link to the universal mirrors we carry. I would recommend a door or fender mount for your truck. For a door mount, check out the CIPA Deluxe Door Mount Mirror, # 11650. One end latches to the bottom of the door, the other attaches to the door between it and the window. We also have...

  • Will CIPA Universal Door Mount Mirror CM45000 Fit a 1997 Ford F-250 Pickup
  • Although the # CM45000 universal door mount mirror does not have any vehicle specific fits, I pulled one from the warehouse and took down some dimensions so you can check them against the area on which you want to mount the mirror. This mirror works for most full-size trucks. The two lower mounting holes are 11 inches apart on center, and the three top mounting holes are 3-7/8 inches apart on center. It looks like the top of the mirror will sit about 29 inches above the lower mounting...

  • Towing Mirror Recommendation for a 2016 Honda Pilot
  • I really like the K-Source Universal Towing Mirror # KS3891 that you have for your 2016 Honda Pilot. I think you would be much happier with them over the CIPA Universal Fit Towing Mirror # CM11980 that you are also considering. The Cipa only attaches to the top of the mirror so it would be more susceptible to movement while you are travelling. The only other towing mirror you might consider would be a door mounted mirror like the part # 11650 these are very stable and offer a pretty...

If you prefer, we also offer larger door-mount and fender-mount towing mirrors. Unfortunately, we do not offer a custom mirror for your 2011 Toyota 4Runner, but I do have an option for you. I recommend either the K-Source Universal Towing Mirror, part # KS3891, or the CIPA Deluxe Door Mount Mirror, part # 11650.
