As you mentioned in your question, the factory mirrors on your 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser have a more geometric shape and are also uniquely tall compared to most OEM mirrors. This makes it pretty difficult for any aftermarket towing mirror to securely attach to its housing.
Because of this your best option for adding towing mirrors is with a door mount design like the excellent CIPA Deluxe # 11650. This will attach to the bottom of the door and between the top of the door and window on your FJ Cruiser to provide you with a 5 inch x 8 inch mirror that extends out 17 inches from the vehicle to greatly expand your vision.
This can be mounted to either the driver or passenger side. For the set that includes 2 mirrors you can use part # 11650-2.
I have attached a short video demonstration so you can get a better idea as to how it installs.
