The Thule TracRac TracVan ES is built for serious work. With a 500 lb carrying capacity and two 69" crossbars, it’s ready for ladders, lumber, and everything in between. Installing the rack is quick and clean thanks to its no-drill setup. Four steel-reinforced feet and custom hardware bolt directly to your factory fixed mounting points, so there’s no need to cut, drill, or modify anything. The solid mounting keeps the rack steady even under full load, while saving your roof from unnecessary holes.
Each crossbar includes four heavy-duty aluminum load stops that slide along the slotted channels. They mount and adjust easily with a twist of the quick-release knob, so you can secure different sized cargo on the fly. The bookend-style shape holds ladders, boards, and long materials firmly, while built-in loops give you a place to hook tie-down straps for extra security.
Made from 6000-series aluminum, the rack is both strong and rustproof. The dual-stage powder coat adds extra protection, with an e-coat base for durability and a clear top coat that shields against scratches. Even with that strength, the rack weighs only 30 lbs, so it doesn’t eat into your roof’s load rating.

Hello, neighbor, Steven here with etrailer.com. Today, we're looking at this Thule TracRac TracVan ES Van Ladder Rack. Now, it is a two-bar system rated at 500 pounds, and it does fit a wide variety of Freightliners and Mercedes-Benz Sprinters with fixed mounting points. Now, folks, I do always tell everybody, please, please, check our fit guide here, homepage, etrailer.com, top center of that page where it says vehicle information. Please enter your year, make, and model, any kind of other information it asks you to make sure you're getting the right parts the first time. Now, this van rack will let you carry ladders, lumber, pipe, anything pretty much you wanna put on top with ease.
And it's got a nice aerodynamic design that's gonna help reduce drag and wind noise. So these elliptical crossbars, they're super streamlined, they're gonna minimize that wind resistance. Now, it is a very quick, easy installation on your van's roof. The four reinforced feet will simply bolt onto your van's fixed mounting points. Now, I've got this one fully assembled and mocked up, and the rest of it I left out, so you can kinda see it close up.
So these are those feet. This guy here goes into this system, and then it gets screwed onto this. And then once you put that in the slots here and install it on the bar, then the plastic cover goes over. And then once the plastic cover is over, you put this plastic key blank in there. I recommend you buy lockable ones, those are sold separately, but it comes with the plastic just to pop in, that way, no one can reach that screw.
And then you have all your other mounting hardware that's needed. Here's one of the end caps, and the bolts that bolt all that together. So folks, again, it is a really truly simple install. It is made of a 6000 series aluminum construction, super strong, durable, but lightweight. One rack here in my hand, the whole assembly is 30 pounds.
So again, it's only about 30 pounds total for one assembly. Now, while I've got this put together and zoomed out, I'll show you the end cap there. There's a view from the end, you can see the plastic cover and all that. And from the bottom, all the slots in the bars and everything. Now, keep in mind, these feet can travel the full length of the bar. I just had to put them together right where they're at, 'cause that's how wide my table is. Most likely on a van, they're gonna be probably closer to the outside, so just keep that in mind. Now, the nice slot of the crossbars will also accept a wide variety of other Thule add-ons, attachments, load stops, that kind of stuff. Now, what's neat about these load stops are, one, you got hooks here for tying down the inside, but you can push these pretty much the whole length of the bar. And then let's say you wanna tighten them, hand tighten them around a piece of pipe or a ladder or something, boom, you just hand tighten it and you're good. So very simple, very easy to move them. Same thing with these. (crossbar clacking) I left them loose just to kinda show you how easy it really is. And then again, once you hand tighten them, they're not going nowhere. So very super simple design, easy to use. That's one thing I love about this product, it's so easy to use, folks. Now, this has been powder coated finish for extra rust protection, and then it's even been followed by a clear coat to give you more resistant to scratches and that kind of stuff as well. Now, again, this is all made here in the USA, has a nice limited lifetime warranty. The rack itself is rated at 500 pounds total capacity, so when you're using both bars. These crossbars are 69 inches long. And like I said, a full rack here weighs 30 pounds fully assembled, so the whole kit, 60 pounds. This rack does not work on the full size Transit unless you want to scratch the van (where the roof meets the top of the rear cargo doors) everytime you load or unload the racks. I would have used them for ladders or lumber that is too long for inside the van. The factory mounting holes on the van are too far in from the back of the vehicle for these racks to work. It's a shame because these are nice racks, but I don't want to scrape the paint off my van. Maybe a bracket redesign would work, but until then, these are not for me.

I bought this product as part of a roof rack system that is to be installed on a new Ram ProMaster Cargo van build. The Thule TH29613XT will serve as the base component, with longer 79" bars being added, and a Thule Hullavator Pro attached to them. Overall, this product will used to transport kayaks to and from various locations, with business & pleasure in primarily in mind.
Generally, the install was as easy as could be with minimal time invested.
I couldn't be more happy than what I am with etrailer.com in regards to how everything worked out. Good product but the product photo is misleading.
In the product photo, it looks like there is at least 12" of bar protruding beyond each mounting leg.
In reality, it is about 5" (much more reasonable)
This is not etrailer's fault. The manufacturer uses the same picture on their website and even on the box the product came in. It is very misleading.
Otherwise it seems like a very well built and designed product. You will need a little bit of clear silicone to seal around the legs. This is per the product instructions. Otherwise water will get inside the van.

Excellent Rack. Easy install on 2015 Mid Roof Ford Transit. You will want a rear ladder as well as a cat walk.
I have purchased several of these ladder racks for commercial vans. They are well made and ideal for carrying ladders and pipe as we are an electrical contractor.
Very easy to follow assembly drawings. Took less than an hour to assemble and attach to roof. I did look up on Internet about removing factory installed plastic plugs on roof of van, as there were no instructions in owners manual. Just unscrew plugs with Phillips head screwdriver, and save them for later use. Looking forward to strapping things on the roof! Ladders, lumber, sheet metal brake, kayaks....
