This over-the-bed rack carries up to 800 lbs, giving you plenty of support for ladders, lumber, pipe, or other long materials. The fixed, over-cab height design keeps loads clear of the truck bed so you can still use the space below. The 78" crossbars give you a wide platform for bigger loads, and the included front and rear uprights keep everything balanced and stable while driving.
Each crossbar includes adjustable load stops that slide along the bar to fit your cargo. Just loosen the bolts, move them where you need them, and tighten them down. They keep things like boards or pipes from shifting around and also double as tie-down points for securing straps or ropes when hauling boats or gear that might roll or slide.
You can mount this rack without drilling into your truck. The patented clamps secure each upright base to the bed rail using two clamps per post. Once the bases are set, slide the crossbars into place and bolt them down. The universal clamp system fits most beds and even works with bed liners or toolboxes when properly positioned.
The steel frame gives this rack serious strength and stability. A black powder coat finish protects it from corrosion, chips, and scratches, while yellow-chromate-plated hardware keeps bolts and nuts from rusting. It’s a solid setup made to hold up through rough use and all kinds of weather.
The crossbars are shaped to cut through the air and help reduce drag when driving at highway speeds. That makes for a quieter ride and lowers resistance when carrying tall or heavy gear overhead.

Sturdy rack. Because it was a somewhat generic fit I had to modify my truck bed lining to get the rack to fit. Was not very difficult. I’ve had zero problems with this rack over the last year. I expect it to last many more years. Great item for the price
Great ladder rack. Purchased for 97 s10. Was pretty easy to install with just basic adjustable and socket set. Have had it for about 1yr and still looks and works like day 1. Best bang for buck

Easy to install (takes about an hour) good quality for the price. using it to carry ladders during the week and kayaks on the week-end. I have a 2016 Ram 1500 with an 8 ft bed, but the rack is pretty universal.
1) The black paint has rusted thru in many areas.
2) The J hook bed rail clamps do not align well .
3) The rope cleats are too small for anything larger than twine.
4) Welds and finish are marginal.
I regret the purchase and have removed the item.

I had hoped that the rack would offer a little more height to allow my canoes to clear the cab of my truck. With a little bit of work I came up with a satisfactory solution. The truck has been waiting for a rack for several years. The Erickson rack certainly serves my purpose and is a well made product.
Excellent quality and value for the money. I researched a lot of rack systems and am very happy with this purchase. This is a heavy duty system that should give years of good service. Mounted mine on a F-150 quad cab.
Rack is extremely strong and easy to install. I used it to support two ladders, 16 ft. and 23 ft. for months. Never any problems with movement or slippage. I noticed a little inconsistent paint coating around the tie downs on the arms. I have small spots of rusting around them. When asked, I suggest this rack to my fellow workers for their vehicles.
I have a 2001 Silverado with a soft-topper cover on the bed.
I purchased this rack as it was easy to modify so it would go out side and over the soft topper. It’s worked out fine though it’s heavier and stronger than I usually need. I don’t keep it installed on the truck all the time but it only takes about 10 minutes to put on or take off now. I have only carried two kayaks or a 24 foot fiberglass ladder on it so far but will soon use it to pick up some 26 foot PT 2X10 for a deck ab
Nd expect no problems ,as I said this thing is heavy duty. It doesn’t have the prettiest cleanest lines of any rack I’ve seen, but definitely gets the job done without the premium price.
I bought this rack to haul two 16' canoes on my truck when I'm pulling our camp trailer. We just finished a 500 plus mile trip to the Sawtooth National Forest in central Idaho. The canoes rode right where I strapped them. The rack, while I was assembling it on my truck, felt a bit shaky. But once everything was tightened up it was rock solid. Easy for one guy to assemble. It can be put together with the side posts in one of two positions depending on whether you want a narrower or wider top surface. The adjustable tie downs are very convenient to get a secure tie. The only word of caution I have is, if you're hauling longer canoes, put foam pads on the edges above the cab of your truck. My experience is, this is a great and affordable rack of good quality.
Only took a couple of hours to install by myself. Fairly simple. Should have no problem carrying lumber this summer.

One year later and the racks have paid for themselves on saved delivery. These racks are perfect for the DIY guy.
The brackets holding the tube guides used to secure loads do not close tight enough around the pipes to securely fixate them in position. They are too big or the pipe is to small by at least several millimetersI have ordered a plastic sleeve to sliup inside the bracket. Disappointed

Rack arrived before the expected promised date. Assembly and instructions were simple and easy to follow.. I appreciate the 800 lbs rating and look forward to the additional storage opportunities.
I bought this to make carrying my kayak easier, as it was less than a regular 'kayak rack.' It has also carried bits of camping gear at times. It has performed beautifully and has not interfered with my use of the truck at all. Highly recommended.
Packaging could have been better, parts are scratched but it is a ladder rack so not a big deal. Was also missing one of the plastic plugs on the cross bars.
Great rack for the money. Installation took about 2 hours as I didn't have the right sized ratchet socket pieces in my set. Once on it was great. Solid construction. Took my 14ft stand up paddleboard quite a few times and held up with speeds over 65mph.
I'm extremely pleased at the way etrailer/Erickson truck rack turned out, and how easy it was to assemble, just one glance at the instructions and I was able to put together without even thinking about it. etrailers videos were also very helpful. rock-solid, no swaying or movement, no noise or sound coming from it whatsoever, very aerodynamic. I bought this strictly for hauling kayaks. The price was great and it is made of metal and not an alloy. Putting it together is a little bit of a pain BUT, once everything is in place and tightened down it is solid! No vibration/shaking from the kayaks/rack as I drive down the road. This is the 3rd time I have ordered from etrailer and have always had someone contact me after the order was delivered to see if I'm satisfied. Excellent customer service and on-time deliveries.
The product itself is of good quality. It is a heavy duty truck rack. They say it is adjustable but that is only if you have the wrenches with you. It took several hours to assemble it alone. The bolts need to be a little longer especially on the mounting sleeves and the top of the cross bars. The sliding mounts were quite difficult putting on as the sleeves were very tight, I recommend WD - 40. When it was to the point of installing the cross bars it was necessary to loosen the mounting sleeves and move them. I called customer service and sent several e-mails and received no responses . I plan on using it to carry my kayaks while pulling a travel trailer.
Install wasn’t horrible but I can’t imagine removing it often. The stops naturally don’t slide on the rail but can be relocated without tools which is nice. Seems sturdy.
The cons, it’s steel and has started rusting after two weeks in places the paint wore off during install. I will have to clean it up and repaint it to keep it from looking horrible. In addition, the J bolts sit pretty far off the side of my 2007 F150 so the bracket is hanging off the rim inside about an invh. Once all together it doesn’t seem to matter but would be more comfortable if it sat tight.
Overall, it gets the job done but if looking for pretty, get something that doesn’t rust.

After a year, the rack looks exactly the same. The surface rust has not gotten any larger. I have noticed that during installation the brackets did bend up the lip of the bed a little but that could be my error or because of the bed liner. Happy with the purchase still.
