Video Transcript for An In-Depth Look at the Pin and Clip for 2" and 2-1/2" Hitches

Today, we'll be taking a look at the Pin And Clip for Class III, IV and V trailer hitch receivers, part number PC3. This 5/8ths pin and clip is going to fit 2" and 2-1/2" square receiver tubes. It's 5/8" long and has a pistol grip shape handle. That way, it can be easily installed and removed, and it won't slide all the way through. It's great for standard ball mounts or more complicated ones, like weight distribution chains. It's also great for cargo carriers and bike racks that don't have an anti-rattle bolt.

In fact, you can use it for any hitch-mounted accessories that require a 5/8ths hitch pin and clip. Now, let's go ahead and see what it looks like when it's going down the road. That's going to complete our look at the Pin And Clip for Class III, IV and V trailer hitch receivers, part number PC3.

This is actually the second one of these I've installed. I helped a friend put one on his 06 Outback and it was really easy. So when I needed one for my 05 Outback I knew where to buy one.

Super-simple installation and looks good too.

They are all working just fine still.

After balking at the cost to have an auto-shop add a trailer to our Toyota Highlander, we found etrailer.com and decided to take a chance. The "how to" videos factored considerably in our decision to buy ... they made it look so easy! And surprise! It really -WAS- that easy. We used standard block-type ramps (the kind you can buy for $40 ) to get the SUV up off the ground high enough to get underneath to do the work. Everything came off as easy as it was showed in the videos. Other than the fact this bar is a heavy so we had our teen daughter help hold it steady while we bolted it into place (i.e., get help for when you go to lift it), it went super smooth. Thanks for saving us $280 over the cost the car dealer quoted us! P.S. - be sure to watch the linked videos so you get the right trailer lighting attachment and ball hitch for your new hitch.

We are very happy with our trailer hitch, and all the accoutrements that we purchased with it. Your videos were enormously helpful, the hitch went on easily with a bit of help from our teenage daughter to lift it up into place, and we recommend your business to friends when they express an interest in getting a camper.

Nice spare Pin & Clip!

by:

Purchased with a Draw-Tite hitch that has the bracket welded to the cross member. No sweat to install onto hitch.

Remember to mount the bracket to the hitch before installing hitch. Also, the vertical tab with the slot must face the rear of the truck to accept the plug from the wiring harness.

Pulling the pin on my new Tacoma was a pain in the rear with the old pin from a 2005 Tacoma. The new truck has an extra lip welded on the receiver. So I got this one, out of the box I thought it was exactly what the old one was. Not so, just a bit longer so the pin slides right in ??
Thanks

The Oem hitches on the 2005 Toyota Tacomas have extra width around the receiver and will need a hitch pin that is made for a 3 inch hitch. I recommend Curt part # C21506 Hitch Pin and Clip. This hitch pin and clip is 4 13/16 inches long.

by:

Extremely poor design. Do NOT purchase this junk! Go to a hardware store and get a real one. This pin has no hole for a cotter pin. The weak spring clip is unreliable at best. I would not take a chance on a clip design like this.

We got this so we could open our tailgate without having to unhitch the trailer. It works great! Product is good, service was fast... it made our trip to Alaska much happier (our dog needs the tailgate lowered so she can jump in and out for potty breaks). We still need to have the truck and trailer pretty much straight in line with each other... if there is too much angle left or right, we can't fully lower the tailgate. We drive a 2015 Ford F-150.

The pin and clip were exactly what I was looking for. The quality and finish of the product seem to be top notch. I would not hesitate to recommend this product.

The product hasnt disappointed. Its done its job even when I managed to damage the hitch cover by scraping it on the ground rough, rough road.

by:

When you Google "customer service" etrailer has to be first in line! They care and they want it right!
In addition, my new hitch sleeve insert/cover is the highest quality I have seen. Talk about rock solid!
etrailer is the first place I am going to go for all of my trailer towing needs. Top of line people, outstanding products and very competitive pricing. I'm all in!

by:

I am only rating this item poor because I don't really use it. I upgraded to a locking pin. I just did not feel safe with this pin. I use it as an emergency back up if I ever can't use the new locking pin.

To Whom it May Concern:
I highly recommend
etrailer.com com. I ordered a trailer hitch and bike rack by phone. The sales agent was professional, competent, helpful and friendly. The prices of the products are fair and the delivery was timely and arrived in good condition. It is rare to have a purchase experience of the level of high quality that I experienced with etrailer.com. I am highly recommending this company to others, based on my first experience with them, and I would not hesitate to purchase from them again. 4 stars out of 4. Thank you. Jim B., Falmouth Maine.

Quality Products & Quality ServiceThis is my second time ordering from etrailer.com. I am so pleased with the selection, pricing, and customer service, that I will look here first before ordering products elsewhere.

I have not yet tested the process of adding the Thule ski carrier to my Thule bike rack (our snow melted but is forecasted to return this week); however, I foresee no issues. I love the Thule rack and the ski carrier appears to be of similar quality.

The hitch receiver cover was of even greater quality than expected, and a huge hit. As confirmed with etrailer.com customer service before ordering, the pin/clip were exactly what was needed to secure the cover.

The order shipped out earlier than expected and because it was close to the holidays, the shipping speed was upgraded at no cost. All in all, a terrific experience with etrailer.com.

I should close by saying that I do not regularly submit product/business reviews, but feel compelled to do this one because of the wonderful service and quality products. Happy holidays!

  • Is B&W Tow & Stow With 5 Inch Drop Most Popular For 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver
Yes, you're on the money because the most popular B&W Tow & Stow ball mount for 2 inch hitchers is indeed the one that has a maximum of 5 inches of drop or 5-1/2 inches of rise. There are actually two versions of this, one being a 2-ball mount and the other being a 3-ball mount, and a couple color options: - 2-Ball Mount: B&W Tow & Stow - Browning # BWTS10037BB or Black # BWTS10037B - 3-Ball Mount: B&W Tow & Stow - Browning # BWTS10048BB or Black # BWTS10048B Both ball mounts have a...

  • Can Draw-Tite 76138 Class III Hitch Be Installed on 2022 Mazda CX-5 Without Using a Lift
The Draw-Tite Class III hitch, part # 76138 is indeed a fit for a 2022 Mazda CX-5. Because the muffler on your vehicle is very large and is positioned at the center of the vehicle, it'll need to be temporarily lowered as shown in the linked install video. It will be very difficult to lower the muffler without the rear of the vehicle being raised, so I'd recommend using a set of ramps such as # FT11909MI to provide some room under the rear of the vehicle. The # C13281 and # e72TR Class III hitches are the exact same hitch, both are manufactured by Curt. The etrailer brand hitch has a matte powder coated finish, while the powder coat on the Curt hitch has a glossy finish. Some feel that the matte finish is a bit more desirable, as it tends to match the black underside of the bumper cover on the 2017 Sportage better which makes the hitch a little less visually obtrusive, but other than that (and the brand sticker affixed to it) the hitches...

The center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the gusset on the Draw-Tite Ball Mount # 80248 is 5-3/4" which means this ball mount sticks out enough to where it will not hit the bumper on your 2016 Jeep Renegade in the rise or drop position. Both hitches would install in the same manner, but the Curt # C12177 wouldn't require any fascia trimming and would hang lower by about 3-1/2 inches. Because no trimming is needed, that's the hitch I'd recommend. To get the proper height to keep your trailer level, you'd need to choose the correct ball mount with the proper rise. Great question, and I think you're on the right track.
