Does Brake Output Wire on USCAR Harness Need To Be Hooked Up To Use Redarc Tow-Pro Link?

Updated 02/20/2026 | Published 02/17/2026

Question:

I really like the Tow-Pro Link design and features. I would like to use it as part of my solution to add trailer wiring to my 2026 Toyota bZ. Since the bZ does not have a USCAR connector pre-wired I will need to add one, and was planning to use your TK37CR and your 20147 USCAR replacement. I have a kit from Torklift for a plug-and-play installation of a 4 pin flat connector, and I have what I need for the power connections, My question is where should I get the supply for the trailer brake pin on the USCAR? Can I tap into the brake light circuit or do I need to run a wire to the front to pick it up at the Brake pedal switch? Either way, do you have a tee plug for this or will I need to splice in? Thanks!

Hey Andrew.

The Redarc Tow-Pro link will indeed work just fine for your 2026 Toyota BZ, and due to it not needing a brake output wire you do not need to hook up the brake out put wire at all. You'll plug the USCAR pig tail # 20147 into the Tow-Pro Link, and then the other end will plug into the 7-way # TK37CR. The controller will pick up the signal from your light circuit, and will output the braking power through the 7-way.

Just make sure to hook up constant 12v power to the 7-way with 10 gauge wire and a 30 amp circuit breaker, and hook up the light functions, and ground.

Seems like a cool vehicle! I actually had to look up what a BZ was lol. What are you planning on towing?

Thanks, I like it when all the pieces come together nicely! Occasionally I borrow a large utility trailer. The bZ is replacing a Highlander I used to use for this

@AndrewH I do too! Sounds perfect for ya, let me know how the install goes when you get to it, and if you need anything else, you know where to find me.
