Individual Rotating Cradles

Swagman XP 5-bike Hanging-Style Rack Anti-Sway Cradles

The Swagman XP has cradles that secure your bikes by the top tube, down tube, or seat tube. Each cradle rotates to ensure your bikes hang level on the rack, reducing the risk of ground clearance issues. You can also adjust the spacing of each cradle to help keep your bikes from bumping into each other.

Swagman XP 5-bike Hanging-Style Rack Anti-Sway Cradles

Soft rubber padding inside each cradle protects your bikes from scratches and scuffs. The padding has grooves on the surface that prevent your brake and shifter cables from getting pinched.

Easy Tilting for Cargo Area Access

Swagman XP 5-bike Hanging-Style Rack Tilting

The rack tilts down without your bikes loaded for easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area.

Swagman XP 5-bike Hanging-Style Rack Lower HitchSwitch Lever

To tilt the rack down, pull out the pin above the base of the rack, lift the mast out of the groove above the pin, and lower it. When you're ready to go, lift the mast up and re-insert the pin.

Threaded Hitch Pin and Hitch Adapter

Swagman Titan threaded hitch pin

A threaded hitch pin is included to help eliminate rattle in the hitch receiver during transport. It fits the threaded hole at the end of the shank. To tighten the pin in your hitch, use a 5/8" wrench (not included). Clips are also included to keep each pin in place.

Swagman Titan 2-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Hitch Adapter

You can install the rack in a 1-1/4" hitch or in a 2" hitch. To use it in a 1-1/4" hitch, simply remove the adapter with the included Allen key.

Bike Security

Swagman Titan 2-Bike cable lock

A lock on the hand knob secures your bikes to the rack. Once locked, the hand knob will spin freely so a would-be thief can't operate it.

Swagman Original threaded hitch pin

An anti-rattle hitch lock (sold separately) is available to secure the rack to your vehicle.

Available Adapter Bar

Swagman Bike Adapter Bar

If you have a women's bike, kid's bike, or any other bike without a straight, horizontal top tube, you will need an adapter bar (sold separately) to properly mount your bike. The bar fits between the seat post and handlebar stem post of your bike to create a top tube so your bike hangs level on the rack.

  • Replacement 2-Inch Shank for Swagman XP 5-Bike Hitch Bike Carrier S64970
Thank you for describing the replacement part you need for your Swagman XP Folding 5-Bike Hitch Rack # S64970. What you are looking for is a 2-inch shank. I called Swagman to confirm the correct part. What you need is part # SP129T.

  • Carrying 6-8 Bikes for a Family of 6 with a 2016 Acura MDX
To carry up to 8 bikes on your 2016 Acura MDX I recommend a combination trailer hitch mounted bike rack and roof mounted bike racks. Starting with a trailer hitch, I recommend the etrailer hitch # e98840, it is an excellent choice. This hitch has a 2 inch receiver so it will be compatible with many bike racks. I have included a link to a video showing an example installation for you. Then for a bike rack I recommend a model that can hold 5 bikes such as the Swagman XP, # S64970. This rack...

  • Hitch Bike Rack with High Weight Capacity Suitable for Use on Motorhome
Any accessory carrier such as a hitch bike rack or hitch cargo carrier that is to be used on an RV, either a motorhome, trailer or camper, has to be built with reinforcement to withstand the extra stresses found at the rear of such RVs. The extra stresses come about due to the typically greater distance between the rear axle and hitch tube on such vehicles, as compared to that distance on a passenger car. The greater the distance between the two, the more leverage and movement there will...

  • Will the Swagman XP Work With the Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk
The Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk Trailer-Mounted Bike Rack Carrier part # CC-275 has a weight capacity of 100 lbs. The Swagman XP part # S64970 weighs about 45 lbs therefore you have 55 lbs left over for your two bikes. However, the Swagman XP is not rated for use on a trailer so I cannot recommend this. Instead, I recommend the 2 Bike Hitch Mounted Folding Rack part # 63120 which only weighs 25 lbs so that then leaves you with 66 lbs for your two bikes. The 2 Bike Hitch Mounted Folding...

  • Adapter Bar for Mounting Irregular Bike Frames on Swagman XP 5 Bike Rack
There is a product made specifically for your requirement. Mounting bikes with unusual frame sizes or designs on a bike rack can be simplified by using a bike adapter bar. Bike adapter bars (many are shown on the linked page) connect between the seat post and handlebar stem to provide a straight and level attachment point to mate with the cradles on the bike rack, such as those on your Swagman XP # S64970. These adapters also work fine on racks with dual arms, such as the Swagman Trailhead...

  • What is the Max Weight of the Swagman XP 5 Bike Rack for my 2001 Honda Odyssey?
The maximum weight capacity of the Swagman XP Folding 5 Bike Rack, part number S64970, is 40 pounds per bike and 200 pounds maximum with 5 bikes. This weight with the weight of the bike rack, 40 pounds, should fall well within the tongue weight rating of your 2 inch hitch but you will need to check your vehicles tongue weight rating to be sure you are within the vehicle limits. The Swagman XP is one of the best styles of rack for alternative framed bikes such as kids bikes and womens bikes....

  • Bike Rack and Roof Rack Bike Carrier To Carry 6 Bikes On Long Family Roadtrip
The quality of Yakima HangOver 6 Bike Rack for Mountain Bikes part # Y02485 is solid, so I do not foresee any issues with taking the Yakima on a 15 to 17 hour road trip. The rack holds the bikes steady and high enough off the ground you won't need to worry about ground clearance with the Yukon. However if you have kids bikes, I do not recommend the HangOver for a family trip, it doesn't do well holding kids and adult bikes at the same time. According to Yakima all of the bikes need to be...

I would be happy to help you get a bike rack installed on your 2020 Ram 2500 with RAMBOX, and you are correct that it should have a 2-1/2" receiver. You can confirm this by measuring the inside opening of the hitch. The Yakima HangOver 6 Bike Rack for Mountain Bikes - 2" Hitches - Tilting # Y02485 can be used by adding the Brophy Hitch Reducer and Extender - 2-1/2" to 2" Trailer Hitch - 7" Long # HR26. I recommend the Hollywood Racks Road Runner 5 Bike Carrier # HR520 because it's going to offer the most stability and security for your bikes. The Swagman XP also includes an integrated lock to lock the bikes to the rack. I recommend Locking Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin part # S64027 to lock the rack to the hitch. Between the two racks you mentioned I would recommend the XTC4 part # S64665. The XP5 part # S64970 is a great rack, but the XTC will be much easier to load and unload. Hanging racks can be a bit cramped when you get several bikes on them. Especially when the rack only uses one frame cradle like the XP5. The XTC4 is a fantastic rack that just works really well. It's not the most expensive or fancy rack out there but it just works really well. I attached a review video for the rack for...

Something like the Swagman Standard 4 Bike Rack, part # S64400, is as large as you could safely go on the back of a 5th Wheel Camper. It can carry 4 bikes, up to 35 lbs per bike.
