Features to know about

Stable Hauling for Big Rides: 60 lb Weight Capacity

Heavy bikes don’t have to be a struggle. The Kuat Transfer V2 carries a single bike up to 60 lbs, making it ideal for e-bikes, mountain builds, or any ride with extra gear. It fits wheelbases up to 50", supports tires up to 3.0" wide, and works with 18"–29" wheels. At just 26 lbs, it’s light enough to handle easily while still sturdy enough to stay locked in over long drives.

Kuat Transfer V2 bike rack approved for use on cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, and flat-towed vehicles, not approved for fifth wheels or motorhomes

Frame-Free Security: Ratcheting Hook and Pivoting Cradles

This rack grips your bike by the wheels, not the frame, so paint and carbon finishes stay untouched. The ratcheting front hook clamps the front wheel solidly, while the pivoting rear cradle adjusts automatically to fit different wheelbases and locks the tire down with a built-in strap. For fat tires, just add the optional strap extender kit. The U-shaped frame lets you stand closer for easier lifting and won’t block your backup camera when folded up.

Hands-Free Access to Cargo: Foot Pedal Tilt and Fold

Getting to your cargo shouldn’t mean unloading your bike. The Transfer V2’s foot pedal tilts the rack down even with your bike loaded, keeping both hands free to steady the weight. When you’re done, step on the same lever to fold the rack flat for compact storage. The design keeps everything smooth and steady, whether you’re grabbing gear or parking in tight spots.

Quiet and Secure on Every Trip: Anti-Rattle Cam and Cable Lock

A tamper-resistant ball cam tightens the rack inside the hitch to stop movement and noise on rough roads. It uses an 8-mm security wrench that’s specific to the Transfer, adding a layer of theft deterrence. The included 1/4" braided steel cable lock secures your bike directly to the rack, and you can add the optional Hitch Lock (HL1) for full rack security. The durable steel body with black powder coat stands up to the elements, keeping it looking clean season after season.

It was easy to put together. It is light enough for me to to put on my car.
If one more feature could be added…… a way to “drop” the rack down for loading. I have a hybrid e-bike and it is a little heavy to lift onto the rack.

It works fine. I would like it better if there was a ramp I could add to it for easier loading.

Hm, I think we have a method that could help with the weight. If you first adjust the front arm with the hook as low as it will go. Then, wheel the bike up next to the bike rack, so that the front wheel is sitting just forward of the front wheel cradle. Then, apply the rear brake while holding onto the handlebars with your right hip up against the bike. Walk rearward while hanging onto the bars and the front wheel will come up, swing the bike slightly to the right so the front wheel comes down in the cradle and move the front arm and hook over the front tire, snugly enough so the bike won't fall over. Then lift the rear wheel up into the rear cradle and secure. Tighten the front hook, and you're done. To remove the bike, reverse the process. If you do this method, then you should only be lifting about half the weight of the bike when loading. Try it out and let us know if it helped.

I ordered the Kuat Transfer V2 bike rack for 1 bike to install on my 2014 Jeep Compass and couldn’t be happier. I only transport one bike and I wanted a bike rack that would let me use my tail gate when it was in the up position without having to lower it. This rack fit the bill. It is easy to load my bicycle and it securely holds the bicycle in place.

I would have given this a five star rating, but the 1 bike rack comes with a combo 1 ¼ - 2 inch shank and the 5/8 inch lock pin hole does not line up with the hole in the receiver. The rack comes with a smaller diameter pin and to go through the hole. I had to order the 2 inch only shank that comes with the 2 bike carrier to get what I wanted. Now I can use a locking 5/8 inch hitch pin. I wish there was an option provide to by the 2 inch only shank when ordering the carrier for 1 bike.

I am sorry to hear that it is not lining up properly. Inside the receiver hitch on the actual vehicle, do you notice any excessive rust or maybe some extra powder coat that may be interfering with the alignment?

Sorry to hear that, Porfirio. Do you have the 2" adapter installed? I have never heard of one of these not fitting a 2" hitch before, so I am a bit surprised.

This is a well engineered product. It was easy to assemble and install. It perfectly did the job of transporting my bike on a 600 hundred mile round trip vacation.

Im still very happy with the Transfer V2 after a year since I purchased it. There was an upgraded part to this assembly issued by Kuat, informed via email and mailed to me directly. Im not sure it was needed but it was easy to install. It shows Kuat is on the ball and cares about the integrity of their products. Im very pleased.

by:

Super fast free shipping, I received the rack the very next day. The quality of the Kuat rack seems excellent so far. The tilting feature does allow me to lower the tailgate of the pickup with the bike on the rack which is a nice feature since I have a camper top installed on the truck

I have been very pleased with the bike rack, no issues whatsoever. I particularly like that I can open the tailgate of the truck with a bike loaded on the rack and the rack tilted down.

by:

The rack is great for a senior single. Lightweight to install into hitch and seems pretty sturdy.

However the directions for assembly need help.
1.The Tire Hook Arm Assy and Arm Kunckle and Arm Installation: The pictures show assembling the Hook Arm and Arm Knuckle in one way. And Installing the Arm show the cutout of the Arm Knuckle for the screw another way. I think the 2 diagrams don't agree with each other as far as which side of the rack the arm is installed on.
It added more time for assembly.

2. In the Hitch Shank Assembly, the holes for slipping in the bolt were not lined up - at all.
Tried to wiggle, somewhat force it - no success.
I finally figured out that the plastic wrap that was put into place to hold the Foot Pivot lever at a certain tension - wasn't really holding it at all. Once I pressed on the Foot Pivot tension lever, the holes could be aligned for an easy insertion of the bolt.

I hope this helps

This rack is exactly what I was looking for for my 45lb E-bike. I worked with Chris from etrailer and he came through with flying colors with information, manuals, and even a fair price match for the part. The Kuat racks are best known for durability and great customer service with a Lifetime warranty. It solved the problem of being able to confidently have a heavier bike on the rack which has an impressive 60lb rating. This rack was changed from last years model of 45lb limit. That sealed the deal knowing that this rack will carry a very expensive E-bike without worries of it coming off on the road. Great peace of mind! Cheers to etrailer and their team!

Hey Gasper. That sounds super frustrating. Would you be able to send me some pictures showing what's going on? I'd be happy to look into this for you.

by:

As you may know, the rack had some problems, with a part being recalled. Küat sent a replacement at no cost to purchaser. However, the cradles that hold bike tend to slip, even when tightened. I've overcome this by attaching velcro straps to bike and rack.

This is not a review kinda. I have a 2024 dodge hornet, and put on hitch first, then I got bike hitch next. The only thing I didn't like was the 1 1/4 inch setup. I have a 2" receiver and didn't like the way it fit, wish they had 2" model. This Wednesday didn't have bike rack on car, and got hit in the back of car the hitch saved me from about $700 more damage to the rearend. It moved the hitch down about 1" it just moved where bolts were, no bends in hitch. The rest of car had about $700 dollars to plastic rearend. Good solid hitch. Thanks for that

Donald, I am so glad you're okay! The Kuat Transfer V2 rack does have an adapter that should be used with a 2 inch hitch like what you have. I just wanted to make sure that you are using the adapter. I'm glad that the hitch receiver took the brunt of the impact for you. Please keep in mind that once a hitch receiver has been through a collision, it should be thoroughly checked by a mechanic for any damages. You will want to replace the hardware as well with item # RHK for your hitch part # DT42PR.

by:

Absolutely love this rack!

by:

I've had no issues with this bike rack. My bike weighs approximately. 35 lbs and I've taken it several 300 - 400 mile journeys using this bike rack. This bike rack is very easy to assemble, install / remove from the car, and secure the bike for travel.

by:

Rack does not work in Curt 2” hitch receiver. Removed and reinstalled several times. Wobble is horrible. All locations are tightened. Will not drive with this on my vehicle. Reached out to customer service and the response was “ what would you like me to do for you?”

by:

The Kuat Transfer V2 Rack and hitch were the perfect solution to carrying our new ebike. Recommended by an employee at the bike shop, we've been pleased by the ease of use for securely carrying the bike, and how it easily tips down for easy access to the back gate of our station wagon. It's easy to remove from the hitch, which we did for the winter to spare it from the elements when it wasn't going to be used for several months, I can recommend this carrier without reservations.

@JamesM Awesome! What kind of bikes have you been loading on it? Are you more of a road biker or a mountain biker?

by:

My husband and I are in our 60's and had no problem putting this together as per instructions. It's a good solid rack, no wobble even with my big 35 pound 29'er. It easily clears our steep curb on the back of our Subaru Outback. The hatch clears the bike and there's plenty of room to move between the car and bike in that tilt position. We loaded our car for vacation with the bike on the rack. It's a bonus to be able to leave it all on the car in our garage. We also bought the Drawtite 2" hitch from etrailer.com. We're very happy with this setup!

This rack is durable. It carries my bike securely and damage-free on or off road. We leave it on the hitch most of the time but its easy to take off when we want to. We use a locking hitch pin for added security.

Great single bike rack!

by:

Best bike rack I have owned, I have owned at least 5 racks on the past 19 years and this one is the best one. Durable, lightweight, and fits the profile of my car perfectly!

by:

Great product. Solid. I purchased the single, and it works great with MTB. Bike has wide handle bars. So I was worried there might not be enough space between tailgate and bike. No issues though. Easy to get bike off and on rack. Steady on the highway. Love it.

by:

Overall I like the product, installation was fairly simple following directions. Haven’t taken it on the road yet as I just put together.Seems sturdy although I do have a lite bike.I do have one complaint and that would be the flimsy hitch pin.Its paper thin and I believe the hole should have been made bigger to accept a standard pin.Its paper thin, also doesn’t come with a lock pin which I just purchased separately. We will see how it holds up on a 2600mile trip it will be going on.

by:

I knew I wanted this specific bike rack, and I was 100% right. It's amazing. Takes me less than 5 minutes to attached the receiver to back of my car (I'm using a Stealth Hitch on a 2024 Volvo S60) and to insert the bike rack, tighten everything down, and load the bike. It's so easy, I think I could do it with my eyes closed. It's perfect for someone with one bike. It does stick out a bit with only one bike, so keep that in mind if you plan to buy the add on's for future bikes you want to carry simultaneously. It also does obscure the camera view a bit when reversing, because obviously. All in all, I love this thing as much as I love my bike. Perfect companion.

by:

Very solid rack for one e-MTB. Was concerned about the 1.5”/2” “variable” fit for receivers and I am happy to report that it sits very securely with the retaining ball mechanism.

For Tesla owners - My car uses FSD and with the rack folded, there hasn’t been interference. So, the one bike version doesn’t interfere with the rear camera. I don’t know if the 2 or more bike rack would interfere. Printed, clear instructions would be very helpful.

Great rack - thanks

by:

Very difficult to load bike on rack. The connection to the hitch wobbles. Took a long time and expense to get hitch installed, but that isn’t a fault of the bike rack.

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack for 2023 Toyota Prius Carrying E-Bike
Hey Kris! A Class I hitch like the Curt # C67RJ is the only option for your Prius. There are no Class II options available, and no way to really modify this to make it one. It is possible to gain clearance with the use of an adapter like the # e93YR but you're going to reduce your tongue weight capacity by 50% down to 100 lbs and add in extra movement. If you decide to use an adapter I would also add an anti-rattle # RM-061-125. For a bike rack that is similar to the # HLY68RR you were...

It can only be used with racks that were manufactured before 2021. You should not be using a threaded pin with the rack you have. What...

  • Adapting a 2" Bike Rack to a 1-1/4" Trailer Hitch
Hey Sharon, Thanks for your question! I'm happy to help. My main concern isn't the weight of the Trailer Hitch Adapter - 1-1/4" to 2" Hitch - 4-1/2" Drop/5" Rise - 6-1/2" Long # e93YR, as the adapter itself only weighs about 10 pounds. These expanding adapters also act like extensions, moving the weight away from the hitch and vehicle. By moving the bike rack and bikes farther away from the hitch, they create additional leverage on the receiver. Because of this, using an adapter can...

It supports up to a 50 inch wheelbase bike and the Trek Pure Sport has a wheelbase of 46.25 inches so it does fit your bike. • Recommended Hitch and E-Bike Rated Bike Rack for a 2013 Kia Soul
The best combo I have for your 2013 Kia Soul is going to be the Curt Hitch item # C11110 and the Thule Epos Bike Rack item # TH99XE. The Curt Hitch item # C11110 is custom fit for your 2013 Kia Soul and bolts to it with included hardware. It is a class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver and it is the only option. This class I capability really limits your options for bike racks. The Thule Epos Bike Rack item # TH99XE fits both class I and II 1-1/4" hitches along with class III 2" hitches....
