Question:

Is this salt/sand spreader hitch mounted? I need something that attaches to the hitch I don't want it in the truck bed.

Hey Ryan! Yes, the Meyer Base Line 400 Motorized Salt and Sand Spreader # ME26FR is designed to fit a 2" receiver. If you have a 2-1/2" or 3" receiver you can use a reducer like # e26YR or # e33YR. You will also need to run the wire for the controller up to the cab for installation.

Hey Ryan, how did the Meyer Base Line 400 spreader work out on your hitch setup? Did the reducer sleeve give you a solid fit? Your update could make it easier for the next person looking for a hitch-mounted spreader.

If I use this with the reducer will that reduce the capacity of the hitch? I don't want to end up overloading anything. Thanks.

@Jack a reducer sleeve does not reduce your hitch capacity. You will have the full capacity of your hitch to handle the # ME26FR so it won't be an issue.
