Features to know about

Extra Power

If you've got more RV to cool, or you're chasing summer across the Southwest, a standard AC unit might not cut it. This 15,000 Btu rooftop system from GE Appliances gives you more cooling power for bigger rigs, hotter climates, or anyone who just wants to beat the heat. It gives you more muscle to handle hot days, high ceilings, and sun-baked campgrounds without breaking a sweat.

Ties Into Your Existing Ductwork

This ducted air conditioner pushes cooled air through the vents in the ceiling, delivering consistent airflow across multiple rooms in your RV. With a GE ducted system, the rooftop unit connects to a ceiling assembly that ties into your existing ductwork, giving you whole-RV comfort with a clean, built-in look. It's a great choice for larger RVs or anyone who wants to control airflow from front to back, not just in the room below the AC. If you already have ducts in place, this setup gives you full-zone cooling without compromising space or layout.

A Smarter, Future-Ready Choice

A lot's changed in RV cooling over the years, and one of the biggest shifts is what's inside the system - not just the tech, but the refrigerant itself. This model uses R-32, a newer refrigerant that cools efficiently while producing significantly less environmental impact. It's cleaner, more future-friendly, and already becoming the standard across the industry. If you're replacing an aging unit, you're not just upgrading your airflow you're upgrading what's behind it.

Video Transcript for Review of GE Appliances RV Air Conditioners - 15000 Btu Black Deluxe Plus Ducted AC System - GE35ZR

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this GE Appliances 15,000 BTU black Deluxe Plus ducted RV air conditioner system. Now, this is going to be a great option to consider if you're looking to upgrade or add an air conditioner system on your RV's ducted system in your medium to large size camper. This 15,000 BTU per hour air conditioner is going to cool evenly and it's going to also handle harsh road conditions, all from a brand that you trust. Now this does use the more energy efficient R32 refrigerant, which is going to meet the 2025 EPA regulations.

I do wanna let you know that this unit is not backwards compatible with any air conditioner system from 2024 and earlier because of that R32 refrigerant. This will be a bolt-on installation with the included hardware that you see here. And this is going to fit roofs from two inches to six inches thick, with an opening size of 14 3/8 inches long by 14 3/8 inches wide. Let's talk some measurements of the unit itself. So looking at the overall length from back to front, we're sitting pretty close to 32 13/16 inches long.

The overall width, 26 1/8 inches wide. The overall height, about 13 15/16 inches tall. The unit itself weighs a little under 80 pounds. Now, this is gonna run quietly. The motor has sound-dampening grommets, and that's gonna help reduce annoying humming.

And this is going to be a pretty easy swap for most RVs. This is going to pretty much seamlessly install over your roof's preexisting roof vent opening. And this is built tough for the road. High-grade materials that this is constructed from, it's going to withstand extreme UV rays and constant vibration. The black hard automotive-grade polymer shroud is going to do a great job of protecting the internal components from water, dirt, debris, and it's gonna be able to be removed pretty easily if you need to do any maintenance or cleaning.

And it does include a wiring harness which will be found underneath. Now, let's go ahead and take a look, a closer look at this side of the table. I wanna go over the other parts of the system that you're gonna be receiving. So this is gonna come with an air distribution box. It's gonna be built to handle road vibrations and everyday life. And let me go ahead and see if I can show you the backside of this here real quick. I hit my microphone there. Hopefully that didn't disturb you too much there. And this is going to be a pretty simple install. And talking about measurements here, we just went over the measurements of the unit. Let me give you some measurements here of the air distribution box. The overall width and length, it's gonna be about 17 5/8 inches. And then the thickness is going to be right at about 5/8 of an inch. So when you have this installed in the ceiling of your RV, it's gonna be sticking down from your ceiling about 5/8 of an inch. So all that to say, it's not gonna take up a whole lot of head space in your RV or camper. Next we have this black thermostat. Let me bring this up to a closer view here just so you have a good look at it. So this is a single-zone thermostat that's going to include easy to use buttons and a clear large backlit display. And just to give you some measurements of this as well while we're here, the overall height and width, right at 3 1/2 inches, and then the overall thickness, about one inch. And then we have our control box here. By the way, you will get hardware to install that thermostat. And this is a fireproof control box, or control board that's included. It's gonna send the instructions to your air conditioner. And some measurements with this, right at 7 1/2 inches long or tall, however you wanna identify that measurement. And about 6 7/8 inches wide and about 2 3/8 inches thick. So this is going to be included. And again, there's the bolts to install the air conditioner unit on the roof of your RV. We do have foam pads here and a gasket underneath as well. So that's gonna help with sealing it and keeping down the vibration and the noise. And so this is obviously from a trusted brand name GE, it's a reliable name that you know from other appliances. So that same reliability and brand name recognition is going to be exactly what you're gonna get from this unit, from this system from GE as well. So you're gonna be bringing that into your RV. And we do have other units available as well. So if you don't need a 15,000 BTU unit, we do have like a 13,500 unit from GE. If you want a white shroud over a black shroud, we have that option available as well. So we do carry a wide selection of air conditioning systems from GE and from other companies as well, if this isn't exactly what you're looking for. But if you decide that this is going to work for you, once you get it installed and up and running, we would love to hear back from you, specifically regarding your experience with this system. Drop a comment or a review on this product page letting us know how things are working out for you. If you have any questions, if you have any issues, give us a call, let us help you walk through some troubleshooting options with you. And we would also love to see photos of this in action on your rig. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that our time together was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

Had this unit installed professionally and immediately went in a camping trip. Unit is not working properly. I have been told it is probably a faulty temperature sensor. No one at GE will help me because they will only speak to a technician. Every technician I have called in my area will not work on GE telling me they are a nightmare took in and with.

  • Replacement AC for Coleman Mach 7000 on 2003 Fleetwood Discovery 38U
Hey Keith! I just got your questions so I'll address everything on this one. All of the replacement AC units have switched to the new R32 refrigerant so a complete replacement is necessary. This will include a wall thermostat so you don't have to worry about compatibility or if the existing one even works. The GE AC you were looking at will work as a replacement for the Coleman. The correct system will depend on whether you have a ducted or ductless setup, the color, and if you want the...

  • Is a New Thermostat Required When Installing a GE AC Unit?
Hey Tim, thanks for reaching out! If you're replacing a GE AC unit, then the GE Appliances Deluxe Plus RV AC # GE64FR will work with your thermostat, but if you're replacing a different brand of AC with this GE, then we'll need to get you a whole kit. You'll need the kit # GE35ZR if you have a ducted system (like in your house) or the kit # GE72ZR if you have a ductless system. What AC unit are you replacing?

  • Will Current GE Deluxe Plus RV AC Unit Replace Older Model
Hey Cameron, the GE Appliances Deluxe Plus RV AC # GE64FR that you referenced is very similar to what you have but since there was a law change that requires a new refrigerant your current lower vent assembly would not work with this unit or any other unit made currently so you'd need to replace the entire thing like with the part # GE35ZR for a ducted setup or the part # GE72ZR for a ductless setup.

  • AC Upgrade Recommendation for a Forrest River 29VBUD with 30A Power Supply
Hey Chris, thanks for reaching out! The 15K Btu GE Appliances Deluxe Plus RV AC System # GE35ZR is the perfect upgrade for your current 13.5K unit, and it can be run just fine on your 30A power supply. This is a completely new system so you'll need to replace your current thermostat and all of that as well. If you aren't used to doing something like this, then I recommend having a professional do the install for you. An 18K could work, but you'll need to install an additional SoftStart...

  • Replacement AC for a GE AC Unit Model ARC13AACBL2
Hey Eric, thanks for the information! Your older GE ARC13AACBL2 with 410a refrigerant is not going to be compatible with any AC components that came out this year. Everything has the new R32 refrigerant now so it's made all the 410a systems and components obsolete. I recommend upgrading your entire system now because spare parts for the old 410a systems are not going to be around long and you won't be able to source replacements down the road. Here are the options I have to replace your...
