Features to know about

Extra Power

If you've got more RV to cool, or you're chasing summer across the Southwest, a standard AC unit might not cut it. This 15,000 Btu rooftop system from GE Appliances gives you more cooling power for bigger rigs, hotter climates, or anyone who just wants to beat the heat. It gives you more muscle to handle hot days, high ceilings, and sun-baked campgrounds without breaking a sweat.

Fewer Parts, Faster Setup, Direct Cooling

Ductless air conditioners move air straight into the RV without relying on ceiling ductwork, making them ideal for smaller rigs, retrofits, or any setup where simplicity matters. With a ductless system, what you see is what you get: a rooftop unit connected directly to a ceiling assembly that pushes steady airflow into your living space. They're also perfect for adding a second AC to areas that never cool down properly, like an upper bunk or bonus room. If your RV has no ductwork, a ductless setup gives you cooling power you can feel.

A Smarter, Future-Ready Choice

A lot's changed in RV cooling over the years, and one of the biggest shifts is what's inside the system - not just the tech, but the refrigerant itself. This model uses R-32, a newer refrigerant that cools efficiently while producing significantly less environmental impact. It's cleaner, more future-friendly, and already becoming the standard across the industry. If you're replacing an aging unit, you're not just upgrading your airflow you're upgrading what's behind it.

Video Transcript for Review of GE Appliances RV Air Conditioners - 15000 Btu Black Deluxe Plus Ductless AC - GE72ZR

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a quick look together at this GE Appliances 15,000 BTU Black Deluxe Plus Ductless RV Air Conditioning System. Now this is going to be a great option for you to consider if you're looking to upgrade or add an air conditioner system on your RV's ductless system in your medium to large size camper. This 15,000 BTU per hour air conditioner is going to cool evenly and efficiently for you. And this does use the more energy efficient R32 refrigerant and that's going to meet the 2025 EPA regulations.

So because of that, this is not going to be backwards compatible with any air conditioning systems from 2024 and earlier. This will be a bolt-on insulation with the included hardware that you see there. And this is going to fit roofs from two to six inches thick with an opening size of 14 and three eighth inches long by 14 and three eighths inches wide. Going over some measurements of just the unit itself. The overall length, we're sitting at 32 and 13 16th inches long.

The overall width, 26 and one eighth inches wide, the overall height, 13 and 15 16th inches tall. And the air conditioner unit weighs right under 80 pounds. So this is going to run pretty quietly for you because the motor has sound dampening and grommets to help reduce that annoying vibration and humming sound. And this is gonna be a pretty easy swap for most RVs. This is going to seamlessly install over your roof's preexisting roof vent opening, and this has also been built tough for the road.

It is constructed of high grade materials that's going to resist extreme UV rays and that constant vibration. And this, as you can obviously see, features, a hard automotive grade rather, polymer shroud, which is going to protect those internal components from dirt, debris, and water. And it can also easily be removed if you need to do any cleaning or maintenance. And then the wiring harnesses included underneath. All you have to do is when you get this on your roof, you'll just pull the wiring harness from underneath this unit and run it through that roof vent opening in your camper.

Now when you do get this installed, it is important that you keep the rear of this air conditioner at least 18 inches away from any obstructions. Let's take a closer look at this side of my table to look over the components of the system. You are going to get your air distribution box. This has also been built to handle road vibrations and everyday RV life. Looking at the overall width and length, we're sitting right at 21 inches. And then when you have this installed in your ceiling, this is going to stick out roughly about two to two and a half inches from the ceiling. So it's not gonna take up too much head clearance at all inside of your camper. You are going to get this black, single zone thermostat. And as you can see, we do have easy to use buttons. You've got a large display that's also backlit, so you're gonna be able to see the settings in all types of lighted conditions and it's gonna be very easy to install. It does include the hardware here. And then we also get our control box here. And as you probably know, this is the brains of the operation. This is what's going to control and manage how your air conditioner runs and operates. So this is also going to be included. So basically everything that you're going to need here to get your system up and running, air divider, and as I mentioned, hardware, and this is all coming from the trusted GE brand, a reliable name, a reliable brand that you know, of course, inside of your home with appliances in your kitchen and elsewhere. So you're gonna bring that trust and reliability into your RV. Now, if this is a system that's pretty close to what you want, but maybe you're looking for a different BTU rating, a different shroud color, maybe something for a ducted system rather than a ductless system, as this one's for, we've got you covered. We do carry multiple systems from GE. So take a look at those other options that we have available from GE. And I'm confident you're gonna be able to find exactly what you need. But if you do determine that this is going to be what you need, that's great. After you get this and you have it installed and up and running, we would definitely love to hear back from you regarding your experience with the installation and the operation. So drop us a review or a comment on this product page. Let us know how everything went and how everything's working out for you. And send us some photos as well if you would like of this installed on your rig. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me.

  • Is a New Thermostat Required When Installing a GE AC Unit?
Hey Tim, thanks for reaching out! If you're replacing a GE AC unit, then the GE Appliances Deluxe Plus RV AC # GE64FR will work with your thermostat, but if you're replacing a different brand of AC with this GE, then we'll need to get you a whole kit. You'll need the kit # GE35ZR if you have a ducted system (like in your house) or the kit # GE72ZR if you have a ductless system. What AC unit are you replacing?
